I mean why not? They remade talisman....

This is taken from warseer, who stole it from "game board geek" but I presume they mean "Board game geek".

Either way, I cannot find the article they speak of anywhere there to save my life to reference for credentials, so i will repost what was said on warseer.

[edit]
I have found the article:
www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/159094
(which in turn was stolen from the space hulk yahoo group)
[/edit]

Destris has confirmed that this rumour is correct.

Ed Holzman (Bearcat89):
"I had the pleasure of meeting Jervis Johnson a couple of months ago at the Chaos Cup BloodBowl tournament at GW's Midwest US Headquarters "Battle Bunker". I was pleased to find out he is a great guy, and I had a very relaxed and enjoyable conversation with him. After talking a bit about BB and 40K, I brought up the subject of Space Hulk. I told him that I was a member of the Yahoo SH Group and that at times there are still heavy debated views here concerning the game. He got a slight chuckle out of that. I can not remember everything discussed, as all the BB coaches hit the bar afterwards and we were talking about tons of stuff while watching the World Series (US Baseball), drinking, that - and the nice scenery of Hooters waitresses were quite distracting....

Anyway's, here is some scoop I do remember that I wanted to share with the group here.

It seems as though GW knows that the demand and customer base is there. Basically he is pretty sure that there will be a new Space Hulk game released in the not too distant future. He said they will have to work with marketing to figure out how to put this out, as it must be known there will not be regular additional releases for it like the other Specialist Games, and will remain a stand alone game. I asked him about how they could do it reasonably as 5 Terminators now go for $50 so the 10 Terminators alone would go for $100. Then add on Genestealers and board pieces and nobody would be able to afford it. He said they would do it similar to how "Battle For Macragge", less detailed and simpler designed minis, to cut back on total overall costs. He mentioned something like that they were researching and believe that the card tile pieces will be replaced by something else (I'm drawing a blank, but he may have said plastics?). I brought up the subject that I read that the designers of 2nd edition wish that they did put the timed game play for the SM player. He agreed it adds so much to the game and said that they looked into sand timers (fairly costly), but that technology has come way down in price, that it looks like they would use a digital timer - where they could even put sounds in there as time is running out (like a heart beating fast he put it) and another sound when time is up (I'm thinking a death groan would be cool for that). He says that this timer is less of a cost from a supplier than the old sand timer. Towards the end of the conversation I said that would be really cool if they did come out with it, and the impression I got from his reactions is that it is seems that this may go through - and if so fairly soon!

So that's all I have. Who knows with GW's ever changing situation if it will indeed make its way to final production and the shelves of retailers, but I know I'll (and probably everyone here) will be getting it if it does come out."

If GW remakes Space Hulk, it will reaffirm my waning faith in them. Hopefully destris sint having an april fools joke on us....

Not according to my sources. They reissued it in order to retain copyright. That was all. Hence the low print run, high price and general unavailability of the game

And someone else (T-Tauri?) in that same thread has already shot this one down...

Too bad, would've been nice to see it out again.

Not quite, Jervis did indeed attend last years ChaosCup. Whch was only less than 6 months ago.

So while the rumour may not be the newest, t-tauri was a bit incorrect.

Still, I am on the fence myself.

On the one hand, Destris did indeed back the rumour up as correct.

On the other, it is getting close to april fools....

I so want this rumour to turn out to be true.

They might do the same with space hulk. If they do, I will fight tooth and nail to get atleast two copies.

Space Hulk was the game that got me into GW's vices.... Bring on the deathwing!!! I still have my old school stuff, I think its time to bring out those unpainted Terminators and start them up again.

GW needs to do something, fast. There is a strange silence crawling over the world, and there are upstart clix games taking up my limited attention.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

there's 2 easy answers to the cost issue, 1 is rescale it as 15 or 20mm, termis are smaller, no danger of people using them in 40k and undercutting GW.

OR (I'd perefer) instead of termis vs genestealers make it Navy Boarding parties vs 'stealers. I never liked the idea that the Imperium was squandering ultra rare termi armor against people who can cut through it like butter.

Clix games?!?

Really?

There is atleast one good clix game out there. Horrorclix.

I bought into it because I owned Great Cthulhu but since they have come out with the aliens versus predator sets, I am sold.

Its been years since any company has produced minis for aliens. and these are not only done well, but the poses are quite good too.
Here are the 7 aliens poses:

www.itswickedfun.net/reference/monsters/AvP007.html
Here is the alien queen (which come with her own egg nesting area:
www.itswickedfun.net/reference/monsters/AvP008.html

Which bring me back to why I bought these in the first place, as considerably better quality genestealers than what GW makes.
Perfect for space hulk.
Plus I get dual use out of them, as I suppose you could always use them for horrorclix as well....

Wont happen. Its too good of an idea to do, which is why GW wont do it.

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

New Talisman is already up for Pre-Order. Black Industries appears to be handling Board Games (althought Fury of Dracula and several others like Warrior Knights are available from Fantasy Flight Games).

Well, If Black Industries is in charge of it, it *might* actually happen.   If it's a studio release, then It'll take four or five FAQ releases just to have something playable...

Gentlemen, we're in luck. These aliens speak American!

Oh my god... it's TALISMAN. Unless they introduced stats for all the characters this game is impossible to scew up. Have you guys actually PLAYED the original version??? Not the one with miniatures, the one with cards? It's a beer and pretzels board game... not a wargame.

So while the rumour may not be the newest, t-tauri was a bit incorrect.

I said I couldn't find a more recent attendance than 2003 anywhere.

I still think this is a very old rumour from Portent days ressurected. I'll be happy to be proved wrong-I've got two full sets of first edition Space Hulk- but I don't think it's that credible at the moment.
