Those guys had an AMAZING team display: an ork drive in movie theater. I've got many more pictures of that along with the other great "orkified" movie posters. (Waagh of the Worlds, etc.)

I agree that eldar army is quite nice.

GW could only dream of promoting their own products this well.

Russ, youre a TEASE!

More, more!

All you guys who didn't go have no idea what you missed.

89 four man teams played on Sat. My team (Cold Steel Mercs) came in 14th in our first outing. Waaaagh!

Friday my old-school Wood Elves got two massacres for and one against (bad dice against Forest Spirits), Sunday my Fallen Dark Angels (Word Bearers rules) got two big wins against a solid Dark Eldar webway army and about the most maximized mech Tau list I ever saw, and a big loss to Death Guard (dice again, mostly).

Adepticon 2015: Team Tourney Best Imperial Team- Team Ironguts, Adepticon 2014: Team Tourney 6th/120, Best Imperial Team- Cold Steel Mercs 2, 40k Championship Qualifier ~25/226

Youre halfright. I may not know exactly what I missed, but each time a new development arises, I know its a shame that GW cannot promote their own products this well.

This is what a Games Day should be like. Which is why I swore I would never go to another GW games day after the first one they held in Chicago in 2002. The let down after travelling so many miles was tremendous. Now, I dont have to travel nearly as far to see something greater than any GD, I can drive a few short hours to Adepticon.

Not quite as much as you think. The subtext is actually "I got my codex five days before I flew to Chicago, and I was also playing on an all-Chaos team."

After the event I repeatedly commented that I/we might have actually done better if I had used DA rules. The scenarios strongly rewarded armies with lots of scoring units, and there were several occasions on which a big ordnance template (like from the Vindicator which is standard in my DA lists) would have made a world of difference. Next year I'll probably bring a Defiler, though, as I expect we'll keep the Chaos theme.

Ohh, don't worry... remember... "Teaser" pics.

"Treadheads Dream" was not their team name.  I have it written down at home and I'll give them credit when I post the rest of their pics.

I believe their team won either best general or best overall.  Can't remember which, but they went home with a big pile of well deserved goodies.

The Eldar Army is a friend of mine. Its a combination of several painters contributing but the Falcons and the Wraithlord where done by a Golden Deamon Winner.

Funny story, another friend of mine was having his army done by Scott Bowser. And as these two armies where being done both of them would be displayed in our case at Sci-Fi City in Orlando. So one Golden Deamon painter would drop off his latest work, look what the other had done and say that he could do better. So we litterally had two Golden Deamon Winners trying to one-up the other over these two armies.

The army in the pictures was Robert's Altansar. He was going for a really dark "touched by the warp" look to them, playing up the skull motif that Maugan Ra has. If you look closely at the Falcons and Wraithlords, you can actually see small runes and writting. Also (not picture) was the best Maugan Ra I have ever seen.

I can see this Saturday if I can take better pictures.

Current Armies: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard (40k), Skorne, Retribution (Warmachine), Vampire Counts (Fantasy)

Thanks Russ.  While it seems somewhat dark days for the hobby, Adepticon shines again, and you were there to highlight some of the good stuff for those of us who couldn't make the trip.

The armies remind me why I used to love GT coverage.  Nothing beats a well-painted, creatively themed army.  Nothing at all.

Looking forward to the Ork Drive in pics.  Get to work!

I had the pleasure of playing the Tau Army the first round with my Word Bearers on the Galeforce 9 table.

I think the Organizers just wanted to get too well painted armies on that table for pictures (though to be far, my army doesn't hold a candle to his or a lot of the other armies out there).

Each missle on the Skyray was detachable.

Hey Russ!

You didn't by chance get some pictures of the Kroot Mercenary army did you? That was by FAR the best scenic board at Adepticon. I took some pics of my own, but some of them didn't come in too good.

Not only did it look wonderful, it even SOUNDED great too! Amazing work this year by all the contestants....long live Adepticon!

I have some GREAT pics of the Kroot Mercs. And I agree, they were gorgeous. I loved the woodland sounds from the base of the display.

For 2 years running, Mechanized Guard have been pretty damn visible at Adepticon (last year, Best Tacticians; this year, Best Overall).

And people say Guard aren't competitive. Heh.

I also was on the team with that Eldar army. The Saim-Hann guardians and the shining spears were actually mine (painted by Capt k). He had to use them as he didn't have enough points done in time for either the gladiator or the 40k championships. We also had another amazing eldar army on our team. Once the Adepticon photo gallery is up, there should be a lot of pictures of both of them, I saw dozens of photos taken of them.
