As I sit here at work, not working, I think to myself, what happened to games like Mordhiem, Necromunda and Blood Bowl... Anyone else just get that feeling like, hey tonight I want to start up a new warband / gang / team and then realize ok now I need an opponent haha...? Ahh, those were the days...

Blood Bowl is its most awesomest ever. A few years ago it went to the "Living Rulebook" format, revised and edited and rebalanced once a year in the Fall by Jervis and an international online commitee of players/fans. It's available for free download on the Specialist Games website. The latest version is the best balanced, most clearly-written, and possibly most enjoyable of all GW's games.

Thanks for the info, I know one or 2 guys in my regular group that are always up for some 'hey you remember when we used to run this...' game haha. Good stuff I'll look it up and try it out, who knows maybe it will catch on again

Yep, Blood Bowl pretty much refuses to die.
I don't play online, but I know three online Blood Bowlers for everyone that plays in person.
I'm debating picking up a box so I'll have the parts needed to get a small league going. What's holding me back is that I already have my fully painted and based team, so I don't have a lot of incentive to get more models.

Theres a couple of guys at the LGS I go to who were really into Necromunda. I wouldn't mind dusting off my old gangs and starting up a campaign again.

We usually run a little 6 to 8 week Mordheim campaign right after the new year, and a short BB league in the spring... it should be starting any time. I don't play BB, though.

Posted By Mannahnin on 04/04/2007 11:14 AM Blood Bowl is its most awesomest ever. That's a matter of opinion, of course. IMHO, it's gotten steadily worse since LR3.0. I know one of the original BBRC who quit because the game has gotten so bad. Be prepared for an unfun game that's nothing like the BB you remember.

I prefer 4th edition to 5th edition.
3rd edition was a great game, but only because my first introduction to Games Workshop was watching a 2nd ed blood bowl game! By the time I even figured out what Blood Bowl was, 3rd was just around the corner.
For those of us that got used to the current incarnation, there are little fiddly bits of 5th edition that are new and, odd. Fame, Injury Rolls, and even some of the team rosters have been tweaked a little bit. The Star Players can only be hired for one game, and the underdog can buy special plays, (like the old deathzone special play cards)
Its still bloodbowl, and who's to say you can't use whatever rules you want!

They're still around. Of course, GW has an annoying habit of dumping every single non-40K/WFB/LOTR game they produce , which tends to decrease the game's publicity and hence the attraction of new players.
....oh wait, they gave it to "Specialist Games". I swear that company employs monkeys - "Let's rape Necromunda v.1 for the horrible "Underhive" rulebook. Let's keep new rules/supplements to the barest trickle." Great ideas! Here's your banana. Well at least it's free now, except (strangely) Gorkamorka?
Anyway, I still play Necromunda v.1 and Inquisitor from time to time. You might have to dig up players but it's worth it

Obviously Gorkamorka gets not attention. it's got orks in it. Orks got a new fantasy dex, you know why, cause when people say things like 40k boyz are underpowered, outdated and need a new dex, and games like gorkamorka get no attention, the GW staff can say, 'No, we just gave the orks a new rules set.' I <3 big dumb orks, and want more attention paid to the 'Largest' in population race in all of 40k! Back on point, yeah Mordhiem, I realllllllyyyyyyy want to get in a good game or two, I remember like 8 years ago, all of my group would play, we had 8 - 10 different warbands going, some from the book, some with our own rules ::cries:: I miss that more than anything....

"Orks got a new fantasy dex" You mean Orcs. GW hates Orks. They seem to not mind Orcs that much.

Orcs have always had a solid competitive build somewhere in every edition, plus a huge volume of options.

GW hates Orks. They seem to not mind Orcs that much. Yes I was a bit off, thank you; in this case, spelling does matter! GW <3 orCs, I mean, who doesn't like stomping on a dwarf (thats why there are no squats haha).... GW </3 orKs who, after cult of speed may as well have been rounded up, thrown on a Space Hulk and get hunted down by Termis.... Space Hulk, that was a good game too haha>

Gorkamorka. Combined it with some of the 2nd/ 3d edition things such as the Pulsa Rokkets, the SHock Attack gun, mounted on a truck.... Had to tweak some of the complex rules and make them alittle playable, such as the 2nd edition hand to hand. Made it a little less detailed, and a little more fun. changed the rules of the capture as well. (You catch it, you keep it.)That can make a game REALLY interesting. I miss Necromunda, because I have continued to stay on for the game. I play old school rules, the new ones suck. good times, man... good times.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

As per a discussion here a while ago, I have dug out a load of Tyranid attack/ Space Hulk stuff. The new figs rock with the old rules.
