My son picked up Rimworld recently and I have also been sucked in
I have tried not to, but I had to roll back to an earlier save when a random attacker rolled in, torched my fields while half the group was away on a caravan and it spread to my base :(
Otherwise, my main problem is getting components. Need to get my trading game on with all the cotton I appear to be producing.

I think I saw a 40K expansion for it the other day.
There's a lot of cooking (legit be a fast food worker), cleaning, goat simulator and similar games lately. Half surprised there isn't a "watching paint dry" simulator game yet getting rave reviews.
------
Aside from all that nonsense i have been playing more terra invicta and it's off and on boring or not. The last of my moon orbitals is about to be wiped off the map and it's about to look dicey around Earth. Of course i have other fleets i can send and they will be superior fleets so it's not all bad. However there are a couple enemy alien fleets causing trouble but others which i will wipe out easily. The only real fear i have is the enemy aliens are sending 5 alien transport ships to Earth and that may still take many months to get there but if i can intercept them in time then it won't be really bad. Otherwise i have 15 alien armies to contend with and probably not enough armies without nukes to handle them with.

Really getting into Hyrule Warriors.
Korok is my favourite fighter so far. Super swift. And lobbing deadly fruit and veg around will always amuse me.

I have bribed my neighbours in Rimworld into a more pleasant relationship. Hoping this leads to more trading opportunities, and less face-shooting!
I have also tamed some Muffaloes, and muffalo babies are now arising. My son is offended by the idea I might want to use the calves for future food supply purposes
This from the boy who needed to be instructed that harvesting the organs of captured attackers would be frowned upon by the parental units.

Plugging away at Darksouls still. I haven't yet encountered a single invader/summon in the few weeks I've been playing and I've been unhollowed for the majority of it. It's completely dead. I guess everyone finally moved on to Elden Ring.
Time was you couldn't go 2 minutes unhollowed without being invaded by some jerk looking to get behind you for a quick bit of dark hand action.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

I think I saw a 40K expansion for it the other day.
I was reading an article at work the other day about the rise of what the author is calling "dad games" . . . The author went super deep into researching it but, the short version is that these "dad games" popularity can be explained by aging demographics among gamers, limited game time due to professional/familial commitments, and the psychological hit of the "job well done" that so many dad games provide.
So, dad games, as a "definition" are typically games wherein one does a Job, the game starts as chaotic looking, and you make it orderly: so, car mechanic simulator, tank mechanic simulator, train simulator, euro trucker simulator, power washer simulator, stadium renovator, ship scrapping simulator, etc. All of them are designed to be pretty simple to grasp mechanically (even if there are "deep" mechanics, they make sense, are intuitive and pretty easy to get to/use), tend away from frustration, etc. So, basically, the opposite of what all "the youths" are on with their fortnites and CODs and battlefield and whatnot. It's a way to unwind without all that excess drama and "excitement".
Ya, I guess when you're young you wanna blow stuff up but then you get old like me and you want to fix things and tidy them up. Looks like I should try Power Washing Simulator....
