I just stumbled across this a few minutes ago.  In a way, it's the most respectful memorial I've seen yet.  Just thought I would share.

????

I assume that you meant to say, "I'm begining to wonder if this is going to affect the contry more than 9/11. I didn't see a comic strip for that."

And if that is what you meant, then all I can say is, "????"

I suppose it helps to spell "country" right when criticizing about typing errors.

I don't know if TSOALR made a 9/11 comic... I think that's the point he was trying to make.

I think the 24 hour news coverage has desensitized me to all forms of violence. Someone could detonate a nuclear device in a major city and after a 24 hour cycle I'd probably be sickened of the coverage and zombified to boot.

Not to hijack the thread, though. It is a nice, simple gesture that works well.

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

Talking of desensitzsation, and without underestimating the devastation the families and friends of the victims are suffering, its also time to spare a thought for the families of those in Iraq at this time.

To put into context what I mean - there are on average 64 deaths per day in Iraq at the hands of the extremists (mainly).

Every day in Iraq is like two "Virginia Massacres". If only that got the same level of news coverage that these poor victims did.

Imagine what massacres of 64 civilians per day EVERY DAY would do to the national psyche?

It sort of makes you take a step back doesn't it?

I have to agree that the TSOALR is a very well done show of respect for those lost in the tragic incident in Virginia.

Yes Osbad I have to agree with you also.  You have to remember we are Americans and there is no other place then America in most of our minds.  That seems to be a very sad trend in our society.

I'm not criticizing Americans for this. We Brits are that way inclined also. After the 7/7 bombings here there was "wall-to-wall" coverage in the UK press of that tragedy, and that was "only" a handful of victims. It is human nature I think to reckon casualties from one's own "tribe" are somehow more tragic than those of another.

Maybe if we all valued each others' lives as highly as we value our own the world would be a better place.

I extend my sympathy to all those suffering for the loss of their loved-ones at the hands of evildoers.

And to get back on topic, it is a sensitive gesture of respect.

Wargamers often get targetted as "war-lovers". It is important from time to time for us to recognise the dividing line between fantasy and reality therefore.
