So RiTides, are you specifically a fan of swamp type beasts, like the Mierce Peat beasts, and DC's Swamp Thing, or do you just like Plant/Earth creatures in general, like the Mierce Fenn Beasts, and Groot?

I think it's a golem thing, so creatures made out of stuff?

Be warned, it is a VERY big miniature!
Thankfully it was cast as hollow pieces, which works really well...Mierce actually would have preferred a solid hunk of resin, I'm glad it wasn't done that way!.

Yes this exactly

The size is the one downside downside for me, I'm continually shocked at how big Mierce's monsters are in-person (I should know better by now!)

All miniatures have gotten so big over the past decade or so, kinda annoys me...
My first minis were 2-3 cm tall...a BIG minis was 10cm...
a HUGE mini was 15cm.

Nowadays these are considered small...

Yes, we are now heading towards 1/35 scale.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you my newest commission job. Still WIP, but very advanced one. Really nice alternatives to the GW Ogres. These ones are made by Mierce Miniatures. I hope you like them! My main inspiration was Maui from the recent Disney movie Moana

Bohun is doing a commission with some Mierce Oghurs and posted it on facebook so I thought folk here would like to see (and be terrifyingly impressed by the tattoos)

His work is one of those where I'm not sure whether to be inspired or throw my painting equipment out. Generally I fall on the side of being inspired....just about.

In any case: those are brilliant!

Well jeez, that makes mine look lame (of course mine are part of my big red ogre horde now, but whatever).

Some of the latest sculpts! Good stuff!

Spoiler:
The Hrafnen Bowmen are now done! Huzzah! Bob's sterling work for these guys means they're going to be blimmin' awesome, and no mistake!

The champion - Logmar - has been seen before, of course, but here's a reprise...

You'll get a pile of skulls and a tree stump for him to stand on (see the Vidkun the Brave in the Darklands: Savage Hordes IV update later today). Then it's your choice!

The ex-banner-bearer, Folki Svensson, now has different legs...

...because the old ones made him look like he was on the toilet standing up. A bit.

Now the ones you've not seen yet - here's Alvíss...

...named after Alvis the awesome car makers, of course. Well, once-car-makers.

Another warrior, Bjorn is not a member of ABBA.

Well, a different Bjorn was!

The last warrior of the unit is Haraldr - our favourite!

We decided to get Didier to Do Daghdha Lúg, and he's certainly come up trumps. There's a bit to do - not least the "glowy thing" as Didier puts it - but he's getting there!

He'll hopefully be a Wave 21 shipment, and we advise you to purchase him now, because he's turned out a bit bigger than we thought he'd be!

Brude the awesome Albainn host champion is looking utterly superb, as you can see! We'll mould him and then send him back to Valentin for his alternates, of course...

He should be a Wave 21 shipment in this form, though!

There's a lot I love about the varied kindreds in Darklands, and the figures most certainly don't disappoint either. Every kindred has a very interesting trait, whether it be the historically accurate infantry, real life (though slightly exaggerated) heroes, or mythical creatures re imagined in interesting ways. It really is tough to choose just one army over another.

Mierceday!

A Birdy Wizard, Some Hurty Snakes and Some Shooty Snakes

Well this project is, rather amazingly, almost complete - and that's down to the sterling work of Bob Płociennik, of course (although the last miniatures to be done will be by Stéphane Camosseto).

Here we go:

We have some Awesome Things for you this week and no mistake. We have a fantastic resculpt for the Norse and an amazing set of reworkings and a superb set of conversions for the Khthones!

With the miniatures shown today done, that just leaves the Ceorl Freemen for this project, amazingly - and Stéphane Camosseto is already working on them...

With the completion of the Hrafnen Bowmen recently and the Hrafnar a while back, we had another look at the Holumann Bowman Support Host which included Birna and Brynhild the raven-wizard. With Birna soon to be resculpted, Brynhild got all jealous and petulant, so we gave in and handed Bob another resculpt.

Here's the new Brynhild Gunnblindi - Brynhild Battle-Blinder - for the Norse!

She'll come with two head options, with raven-hat (for want of a better term) or fancy free and footloose, i.e., without raven-hat. We spoil you lot!

You can pre-order her in the Darklands: Savage Hordes category:

Brynhild Gunnblindi, Gythja of Hrafnen (metal)
Brynhild Gunnblindi, Gythja of Hrafnen (resin)

Now, if you ordered her as part of the Holumann Bowmen host and haven't received her, you'll receive the new one without having to purchase her. If you've not got her, go get her now!

She should be a Wave 22 shipment in resin, Wave 23 in metal! We've tons of things to print and sort before her and it would be unwise to give improper dates.

With Bob converting the Gorgórar into Gorgóraxo (giving them bows) we thought it would be time to correct a few things on the original Dawn of Khthon sculpts - namely, thickening up the spear hafts, sorting out a few errant flappy things that just got in the way of casting and making sure the tails fit properly into a 50mm base as we just weren't satisfied with the physical moulds.

These Reworked Gorgórar are available for pre-order in the Savage Hordes category, of course:
Dawn of Khthon, Gorgórar Unit (metal)
Dawn of Khthon, Gorgórar Unit (resin)

Again, if there are any Gorgórar in our orders that haven't yet been sent, unless you state otherwise we'll send out what we have until these guys are printed and moulded and cast. So say something to us if that's the case!

The champion of the unit is Myrinna...

...her haft has been thickened!

The banner bearer is Syntyss...

...we fixed her tail and thickened her haft up real nice.

Thillia of the Thickened Haft is the herald of the unit...

...you can tell by the rattler on her tail end. Oo-er.

A standard warrior, is Phyllidii...

...and again, we fixed up her tail and thickened her spear haft.

Elthissi. Another standard warrior.

Haft Thickened. Tail Sorted. Flappy Things Now Unflappy.

Tyssia is the warrior version of Syntyss.

She's sorted now too.

Lithil is the warrior version of Thillia.

Again, these guys will probably be Wave 22 to be honest - we've tons to print before then. They'll be in metal for Wave 23, we hope.

Now the Gorgóraxo are bow-armed versions of the Gorgórar, and they've turned out rather well, we think! All thanks to Bob of course!

The champion of the unit is Yrinna...

...she has to be careful she doesn't get her tail in a twist!

Tyss is Syntyss with a bow, of course...

...her tail's carefully wrapped around herself, as you can see. No chance of tail entrapment there.

Illia is the sister of Thillia...

...ah yes, the tail pointing upwards is a bit of a warning.

Lliddi is a version of Phyllidii...

...a version with a bow! No tail worries here.

This one's easy. Selthi is the bow version of Elthissi. No, really.

Again, these guys will be Wave 22 and Wave 23, we hope!

The Good - the newly sculpted (digitally) humans are WAY better then the originals!

The Bad - now I have to re-buy all the stuff I already bought.

As surprising and nice as the new Citadel gorgons are, seeing these Khthon snake chicks again reinforces that Mierce is king of the animal people

Also something-something thickened shafts, erect tails, flappy bits

Mierce do like their double entendres

Another update:

Tree Wizard, Fire Demon

It's another update for Darklands: Savage Hordes II, and things are getting tasty!

Let's make a start!

There's two miniatures to show this week and they're both bloody awesome, although we would say that. The Érainn and the Byzantii get the treatment!

The In IV Herod, Ignilegionarius Incaendium contains three hellfire-throwing Demilegionarii, and will all be sculpted by the amazing Yannick Hennebo (just like the originals). Here's the first one...

Frantius is an Ignilegionarius warrior, and looks mighty impressive (and rather barrel-chested!)

What a fantastic miniature!

The unit, we think, will probably be a Wave 22 shipment. We can't wait for the rest!

Didier Fancagne has been happily sculpting Daghdha Lúg, as you can see - he looks great!

He's finished, so he'll be a Wave 21 shipment we think.

Was just checking on the Ballista and the Hrafn unit, shown here if you scroll down a bit:

http://www.mierce-miniatures.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=709#p6298

That page shows that the 3D print is in-hand for both of these, were they done in-house or are you still waiting on / setting up your machine? I'd love to see some printed masters from it when it's ready

There're not going to be showing masters as the colour of the resin & support placement will give away what printer they've gone for and that's a trade secret (annoying for us watchers but probably understandable),

but from the sound of it we may get to see the first casts from the home printed masters next time round as it's up and running and producing quality stuff

Tim Fisher (Chief Mould Maker and 3D Printer keeper)

Won't be showing prints - once the prod moulds from the prints are running we'll show you the casts, as that's what you'll actually receive. You've seen the sculpts and you'll also see the casts. No one will receive prints (and some people still think we'll be printing and shipping prints - we won't, that'd cost a fortune!), we'll be using the prints as masters to mould from.

Reason for not showing off the prints is entirely selfish on our (my) part. I spent a lot of time researching 3d printers, set up meetings with various reps, sorting and reviewing samples = many hours spent.
I can identify most 3d printers just from the prints (especially resin colour and supports) - so I'll be damned if I'm giving anyone else looking to buy a 3d printer capable of proving master mould quality miniatures/prints a leg up. They can put the graft in, just like I did, rather than them taking a short cut off of our back. We do get asked about what printer we purchased and just like our resin, silicone and other 'trade secrets' we tell people to go and tickle (we get asked all the time about our resin and silicone and no doubt we'll be asked about the printer too). We've spent a lot of time and money on our production and the printer is a part of that and we keep our cards close to our chest. There's a fair few people that want to make minis as awesome as ours and they can go and learn the hard way.

Printed so far
Garric (all variants) - printed him first as he's summat smaller to start with
Gallon Garreg - then we had a go at summat a bit bigger.
Uulo (Nucranca) - bigger still and LOADS of parts (about 20 per Nucranca)

WiP
Rest of Nucranca and then Thullac next on the print list followed by Banbreca and pretty much 'in order of date sculpted/KS campaign' from there on.

Garric and Gallon are now in the Q for master and prod moulding. Just need to clean up Uulo's prints and he'll be in the Q as well (after today) - I'd expect pics of Garric and Gallon's casts in the Mierceday on the 23rd March (which is also the day I take a week's vacation with my family so it's a day to look forward to for all of us! :0P )

The printer is fantastic - details very good, on par, if not better than the Dreaguth, Gasts etc. It takes 4-8 hours per print build - as a guide Uulo's parts have taken 6 separate builds, he has some pretty big and chunky components - ( also at the KS price the Nucranca are a bargain! I'd get some now as the RRP may well go up!) , so it does take a while. (should have been 5 builds but a couple of parts needed re-printing and that happens as we get to grips with the tech, I don't approve anything that isn't top quality so there's an occasional re-print required on some parts)
