The busiest stand at Salute was the FW stand, at times swarmed by hordes of fans desperate to purchase the Macharius on limited release, pilots, DKoK riders and the other shiny new models.

But IA5 in full on the table was the big news...

I had a long chinwag with the staff there (at 2.30 when they started relaxing and catching their first meal of the day) asking about the Malcador's release date.

Malcador and Traitor Guard
Mid/late May it will be out and other the next two months three more variants will follow, they see it as a breakthrough tank (duh) and they are debating whether to make it structure points or not. I enquired about a tank destroyer variant and they simply said 'wait and see'.

Most excitingly the Malcador will be released with different crew options, loyalist AND renegade (something we can expect to see almost as standard from now on).

IA5
Very detailed, just had the prototype back from the printers and comes with a seperate MAP of the conflict and full unit designations etc on the rear of this - they are very excited. Photos were outstanding, and the background - life in the trenches etc was stunning. I preordered my signed copy there and then - it really sold itself.

DKOK
The Macharius was fantastic to see in print - its a super heavy slot and has 2 structure points and costs over 300 points. Quite a nice piece of kit and very popular at Salute. It also has 2 battlecannon.

Death Riders are a command choice for DKoK armies and (an expensive choice in points but even so highly attractive.)...

Centaur is capable of ferrying troops around, Grenadiers are Elites with Thudd Guns, Heavy Mortars etc, and the ONLY Troops option open to the DKoK are Infantry Platoons, no armoured fists (think tehy are fast attack from memory)

Tanks are fielded in units of 0-2 in heavy support. Bombards are also in the list.

Renegades
Hive workers - cheaper than conscripts and... looked fluffy. They also have access to limited Artillery and Minefields.

IA6
New Dark Angels
There are mumblings about new dreadnought parts, for the Dark Angels and a new character for Imperial Armour six (an interogator with nasty rules...)

Chaos Space Marines
Concepts for 'chemical warfare daemon dreadnoughts' and some... very... very nice new chaos space marine models were on the table, so that is another exciting future...

General News
Imperial Navy
Not this year... but in the near future expect even more Imperial Navy

Space Marines
Landspeeder Typhoon was regarded as an attempt to make a light space marine fighter aircraft (but FW has admitted this has failed) as it deviated far from their concepts.

Flying Rhino... on the drawing boards - under much debate "such a deviation from what has been done before..." and if it was to appear, a future - probably not IA6 - IA book would see them described as 'a lost piece of STC still in use by this chapter' but a debate still being held at FW.

Manta
30 sold so far made only because 'they said we couldn't do it...'

Titans
Expect additional releases, Reaver and Warlord will be released, but not time scale as yet or pricing.

And no... I did not ask about plastic baneblades...

Hope that was remotely interesting.

I just saw the concepts of the CSM... but they did look... substantially different.

Regarding the Macharius: As it has structure points possibly the battlecannons would be able to fire at different targets...

The militia were very much a defensive artillery/minefield/horde army - whereas the Krieg has the possibilty to wreak havoc with fast cavalry, light personel carriers, and an absurd number of tanks...

To reiterate.......

1. Malcador -NO RULES EXIST YET - IA6 release (IA5 is in the printer, too late for inclusion)
2. NO HIVE WORKER MODELS WERE THERE. Just the rules in IA5.
3. The map was NOT on show - hell its only been seen with the prototype.

Regarding DKoK: Centaur is an option for troops (probably 2 per squad or something - cant remember).

1x Command platoon
2x Krieg Infantry Command Squads
4x Krieg Infantry Squads

That is the minimum you can have in an army (even so thats still around 200-300 of models...) hence I'm using Cadian models with the weaponry!

Death Riders are fast attack as well as command models, I didn't glance at the Special Weapons slots for Grenadiers (should have but was too lazy).

Dude, hasn't bloid gotten its fill of painting 3 million models every year to Bloid standards?

I wonder if they ment the LandSpeeder tempest? I thought they did pretty good as a light space marine "fighter"

And there I was joking about a new hover rhino just this evening. Prophetic.

"Bloodstorm! Ravenblade! Slayer of worlds! Felt the power throb in his weapon. He clutched it tightly in his hand and turned towards his foe letting it build in the twin energy spheres and then finally! RELEASE! The throbbing weapon ejaculated burning white fluid over them as Bloodstorm! Ravenblade! laughed manfully!" - From the epic novel, Bloodstorm! Ravenblade! Obliterates! the! Sorry it's horribly off topic....but you're kidding right ?   Nothing says Bloid more than way too many models painted to an incredibly high standard.  Right?  [if this topic were under army lists, rules or tactics I'd say nothing sayd Bloid more than losing horribly to first timers even using loaded dice]

Let's hope Adepticon Rules Committee decides to allow "Imperial Armor Variant" lists before I start full-scale Bloiduction.  I think I have a call to make....

I am actually trying to figure out how to build a decent Warlord Titan at the moment. I am totally confused as to how to build the legs.

Although I somehow doubt that they would actually make one, I want one SO BAD.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

How can the Malcador not be a War Machine with structure points? If it's a normal vehicle it means that it's five heavy bolters that are pointed in all different directions won't be able to fire:

A). At different targets.
B). At all when the Demolisher cannon fires.

It has to be a War Machine, otherwise it will be the worst vehicle FW makes.

A Flying Rhino? Now, if this is some sort of Spase Mahrune (hurr) Valkyrie, then I'll be totally stoked and will finish my scratchbuild of the same, but if it's literally a flying rhino... :stifles urge to vomit:

Everything else sounds great though.

Flying Rhino is originally a reference to the original sculpt of the Thunderhawk in Epic Space Marine.  It was... well, it was ass actually.  And it looked very much like a flying rhino with a big round shield in front.  GW was really weak in the quality control department when that figure was made.
