Well, now that it looks like my lovely EC will be soon unplayable, I thought I might hedge my bets by picking up a new list. From what I understand, the Eldar make a really good mechanized list, which is cool because I love the look of their grav tanks. (For my EC, I pimped out some rhinos and went crazy with detailing only to find they sucked ingame :-/). Perusing some of the topics, here is what I have come up with:

158 Farseer: Runes of Witnessing, Stones, EStorm, MWar, Jetbike, Spear
198 6 Harlequins w/Kiss, 2 fusion pistol, Troupe Master, Shadowseer
108 6 Fire Dragons w/Exarch
315(x3) 10 Dire Avengers w/Exarch extra cat, Bladestorm
mounted in Wave Serpent-TL BLances, Shuriken Cannon, Stones, Vector engines
205(x2)  Falcon: Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Pulse Laser, Holo, Stones, Vector Engine

The falcons carry harlequins and Fire Dragons. Only 43 infantry, but 5 tanks packing some big guns..... To drop down to 1750, I lose the Runes of WItnessing, Stones, Mind War, and the fusion pistols. Still 30 shy of 1850.... I thought about dropping some gear on the farseer and adding an autarch in. Thoughts?

Looks like you forgot to pay for the Exarch upgrade on the Avengers. Ditch the pistosl and the troopmaster on the harlies, they work just fine without. The farseer probably wants a unit of bikes to hide in, and Doom/Guide will be much better than the powers you've selected. Witness runes increase your chance of dying to a Perils roll, ditch them. I'd also ditch the dragons for more harlies or some scorps, as with 3 brightlances and 2 pulse lasers you've probably got enough anti-tank. If you keep them, ditch the exarch.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Get a different second power and/or weapon for your Farseer, he has three shooting attacks, not counting the bike guns.
Ditch pistols on Harlequins if you are running Fire Dragons.
Ditch the Fire Dragon exarch, you need no upgrades. What you point your guns at is either vapourised or there to stay.
Your troupe master miniature should be just another clown.
Give the Falcons turret shuricannon, you save some points and you will be within 24".
Replace one, just one, Dire Avenger squad with Storm Guardians. Flamers come in handy.
I you havent already got bright lances for the Wave Serpent (I have the old forgeworld kit), dont. Get scatter lasers, shuricannon, or even EML on each. Save a bucket of points.

This should save you enough for some Guardian jetbikes. To keep your Farseer company. Squeeze a few more points on the tank turrets and you might be able to afford some Shining Spears.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Ok, the pistols, troopemaster and FD exarch seem to be unnecessary.

Orlanth: Why would I want BS 3 guardians with flamers? They have to get very close to be effective and still don't hit very hard. Granted, flamers ignore cover, but that still doesn't seem that great.

The new WS comes with BLs.

Does the Farseer need a unit? I thought he could just stay behind a grav tank, fire past it, and not be shot at except by ordinance.

It comes with all weapon configs.

How you choose to build it is up to you.

If youre gonna go with flamers, use defenders with a warlock equipped with destructor power. Defenders are superior to storms because they get tons of str4 shots, a heavy flamer as well as heavy weapons shots, before assaulting as opposed to a few str 4 shots, a couple flamers and assaulting with one more str3 attack per gaurdian.

trust me, there is no reason to use storms unless you need 3 templates. (2 flamers and a warlock with destructor.) I cannot think of one reason, even in COD, where storms will outshine defenders.

You cannot put defenders in a wave serpent because of the mandatory platform. DONT look at units in isolation. Defenders > storm guardians, maybe, but NOT in a mobile list.

The storm guardians are back up for the Dire Avengers. Dire Avengers in wave serpent = rank and file short range shooting and assault. They work together, but you dont really need three squads. You can afford to dilute the mobile gunline by mixing in one third storm guardians.
Its an expediency for this army list. yes also with a mobile Dire Avenger force and the targets they are after mixing in two flamers plus destructor or spear will be more flexible, it will have much improved cost effectiveness.

Where does it say a platform cannot go in a Waveserpent? I know the old book had that rule, but I have not found it in the new book. Would you give me the page number.

It doesn't.

pg 64 C:E under Transport option for Guardians:
" A Guardian squad including 12 models or less may be mounted in a Wave Serpent (See Entry).

pg 63 C:E under the WS entry simply states it is a dedicated transport for a unit of up to 12 models or 5 Wraithguard.

pg 39, C:E under Weapon Platform:
"The platform model itself is always ignored, including when measuring ranges to the unit, and when counting the number of models in the unit. It is essentially a marker; assume that the gun is actually carried by the crew member that is firing it."

Defenders can take a WS transport, though I'd rather have them shooting their Star canon or Missisle Launcher then riding around.

Maybe not in 3rd ed, but you can in 4th ed.

There is no isolation. Both units are equally able to be transported in a waveserpent, thus defenders are indeed superior to storm guardians in almost every way conceivable.
