Loving the advent pics, makes up for me forgetting to get myself an actual advent calendar

Thank you!

Spoiler:

Today we have a selection of minis from Cell Entertainment. Car from KRASH, mech from RONIN, Demonic Trooper from 1999. They made great games with clunky but endearing minis. Until they didn't. One of my great game laments is their sudden demise. However, I bought enough of their stuff to keep me and the group playing for as long as we could want.

Thanks for looking!

All those guys ooze style.

Thanks, Nev. A chunky, clunky style, but dang were those games fun.

Spoiler:

Love the Assassins. From Jaku Dihardis and Tarik Gortsucker from Chapter Approved on down. Just cool characters. Never had the space ninja, but snapped these guys up as they were released. They have been touched up since their initial paintjob. Have another round waiting for the right paint scheme, along with 2 DCA. For the fun of it, here's the two new ones I painted.

Thanks for looking!

Nice work on the assassins youwashock. The Culexus design is so strange and unnerving, always a treat to see them get some attention.

Going back a bit, I'm fan of your Vamps as well. Lovely old sculpts in there.

Great selection of minis in the advent. I like how the VASA lady is holding her gun one handed even though it’s basically the same size as her torso! The SMH Sgt is a cool starting point for your commander, that lightning claw is a great choice

Great looking assassins. I especially like the Eversor? guy and the Vindcaire behind him.

Who are you calling chunky?

We were cast with metal.

Thanks, guys!

Yeah, that's the Eversor, brushcommando.

gobert, yeah, since this version was based on Samus Aran I wanted her to have a little more OOMPH in her firepower. The original is armed with a much more reasonably sized pistol.

Cap'n, that's the truth.

Spoiler:

Speaking of metal. Here's a couple minis that aren't, but are painted like they are. Canned beef from Reaper's BONES line. Fun models. You can always count on Reaper to fill the hole in your collection you never knew existed.

Thanks, aku!

Well, this is it. Last advent for the year. Thanks for following along and I hope you have enjoyed this mini walk down memory lane. Now, I have a promise to make good on.

Spoiler:

MORE ZOATS!

Merry Zoatmas. I have one more Zoat to make, and hope to do it this next year. Can't let the leftovers from making the first Jugger go to waste.

And that's a wrap. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday, Dakka. And as always, thanks for looking!

What a way to wrap it up! Love the zoats and all the fun stuff you’ve posted in the advent.

Happy holidays!

It had to be Zoats to finish off the advent calendar! A fantastic herd and collection of minis all through the month. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Had to get caught up on the Advent calendar, so much great stuff and obscure games with lovely minis!

And the double pistol space marine between them looks great already.

Thanks, guys. It was fun to do, and helped keep me engaged with the hobby a little. This year was a bit of a mess. Spent way too much time in my own way, and let myself get bogged down with the lack of progress and attention. And then, at the end of the year when I had time to actually devote, we all caught covid. Still haven't done Xmas with the extended family. Thankfully, none of us were hospitalized, but it still lasted a while, felt awful, and ate an even bigger hole in my mental well-being. Heck of a way to see out the year. Weather was the suck, too, so I couldn't even prime the Marines yet.

This year was not my best, but for what it is worth here is the rundown on what I painted.

Started out well enough with the Blitz Bowl team.

Then wrapped up the last two House Guard, finishing the first squad for the Exodites.

Then it was time, apparently, to paint my Celtos minis. They were a lot of fun, and I think they went well. Eriu, the greatsword champion, wound up one of my highest rated minis ever.

After the barbarians, knocked out the Judiciar I wanted to make. Still very happy with the way his face turned out. Contrast does a lot of the lifting, but I did some pre and post work to define things a little bit more.

Shortly after, he and his buddies were crushed by a mysterious ball of hot glue. They got better.

Next up was the first Exodite Wraithguard. Ended up getting three done. Two to go.

Marvel United Heroes up next. These are a lot of fun. Which is good, because by the time my pledge for the X-Men version arrives, I will be swimming in these little guys.

Boba Fett from Star Wars Legion made an appearance. Still have the rest of the Mandalorians to do. Sabine will probably be next. Also keeping my eyes peeled for the upcoming version with the gaffi stick and skirt.

And a large black ooze. In a pear tree.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 minis for the year. Not great. But there's some fun stuff in there and something is always better than nothing. Here's to more in the coming months. Current tentative plans have Exodites and Marines on the fast track, with hopefully some Limbo Division sprinkled in. Hope you all had a happy new year.

Thanks for looking!

Hope for your full recovery youwashock.

Painted models are painted models...and you did more than many in 2021. so don't be so hard on yourself.

Cheers,

The volume might be lower than you’d like, but there is no faulting the quality. Amazing work across the board.

Looking forward to what you do in 2022.

Great recap and love seeing all the minis together. Again very diverse range of stuff and color schemes well done. And love both glue experiments, that stuff looks so otherworldly. Celtic tattoos are ace, but the Wraithguard are my favorites, the concept is just great and really well executed!

Great recap youwashock! There’s no denying the quality of your output has been fantastic all year! I agree with gorge high ratings for the celtic lady; the tattoos are stunning!

Even if you didn't get as many finished as you would've liked, you did a pretty amazing job on the ones you did!

Hopefully 2022 is a better year for everybody.

Happy New Year YouWaShock, hope you and the family have made a full recovery. Echoing what others have said above, 30 minis is an impressive output especially considering the quality of your work. Looking over the advent calendar you must have some serious shelf space to store all those minis!

Look forward to seeing what comes off your desk in 2022!

No wonder the champion is so highly rated, looks fantastic. I got the dreaded plague too, it is a bugger. Hope you are recovering well.

Thank you all for the compliments and well-wishes. We are doing OK. Better, but not amazing. Still have this lingering fatigue. Meh.

zahnib, yeah, there's a few shelves. I do try to do purges from time to time to keep things from getting TOO crowded. Marginally successful.

Trying to finish a model. Dire Cabbage. Just need to polish off the base. No time, no energy. However, a Facebook memory reminded me that I used to draw, so I thought maybe I would share it here. Spoilered for undressedness.

Spoiler:

She was originally supposed to be dressed, but I couldn't decide how, and then it was too late. Plan ahead, kids.

Thanks again for sticking around and thanks for looking.

Thank you, zahnib. That's very kind of you. I rustled up a few shots of some more pictures I will sprinkle into future posts.

I painted a mini! Actually finished last year, but illness and weather kept me from vanishing and basing until now. A silly thing with a sorta sloppy paintjob. Reaper and their weird minis.

Also a WiP on another Marine.

And this. Circa 2019.

A great collection of awesome minis last year!
You sure have talent with the pen in addition to the brush!

Been trying to practice drawing as well with no luck so far. But I guess it's the same as with painting: practice, practice and practice.

Nice start to the year, the cabbage is well done. How’d you get it’s mouth to be so shiny? The drawings are really good, very well defined!
