By the gods man your insane. That gloriously fantastic. Did look the other day and meant to comment on the wip's, but now have to comment on that. The wip shots of various figures the other day were very inspirational and really great work.

Cheers chaps !
Not been doing much hobby related work for a while .. i realised its been seven years since i fist posted on dakka trying to get some motivation going so i thought i would pop up a photo of a new project .. a necromunda gang of outcasts starting with a beastman to coincide with forgeworlds release of gor one horn..
oh and i just updated the sister of battle diroama post
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/718996.page
and i also have a new blog for those that like the occasional narrative sprawl.. cant guarantee it will be open permanently though..

I too have mostly moved on from Dakka so I'm glad I happened to check and see your update!
I love the red beastman! Kind of halfway between hellboy and an Oni or Tengu.

aye up Mate , yeah my hobby has been at a low ebb for ages now , thought sharing my workbench stuff might help .. i tried insta and facebook but neither are for me , and as i get social anxiety when i have the blog open for more than ten mins , i thought going back to my hobby roots might help..
Never thought about tengu.. but yeah good spot.. love Japanese mythology.. so scary... big red did come to mind.. but i was trying for the classic devil look.. highlighting red is a pain .. but it has more than the camera shows
anyhow I had you in mind when creating the scenery for these dudes your Russian constructivist style hive, and JB's angled necro art where both at the forefront of my mind when trying settle on a theme or style..
Fulgrim showed me your fantastic technodudes.. really impressive as usual
so i made a blogpost on this project.

I do miss the days when all the activity was focused on blogs and forums but it's hard to fight the pull of Facebook and Instagram.
Glad you like the techs! I'll try to post them here soon ... just have to sort a new image hosting system.
That newest update is just phenomenal. As you might expect I absolutely love the angled terrain — so incredibly evocative. Necromunda tables rarely manage to suggest that they exist beneath miles of city, instead looking like catwalks or spires at the top of an urban/industrial assemblage. The texture and solidity of those big industrial slabs really sell the illusion (more than my scrap-assemblages) and manages to suggest the immense weight of the Hive above. The Sector Mechanicus support struts look so great canted at those angles. And the chains stretched at all angles is right out of the original JB art (also gives everything a sort of nautical vibe that fits with your harpooner).
And I'm a big fan of the new Abhumans. The Ogryn is a wonderful bizzaro version of a Spyrer, and it's great to see Spider imagery given it's proper place in Necromunda.

Yeah lovely work I've often found it quite difficult to get beastmen to look like they actually fit as a part of the 40k universe as opposed to them looking like they're a direct port from Fantasy (same with lizardmen), but you've done a great job here
I'm also interested by the draw of Facebook and Instagram. Haven't tried Facebook yet, but I can't quite see the appeal of Instagram. Just seemed...hollow to me. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right place...

aye up folk.
Thanks all .
@Camkierhi cheers mate , would love to expand the setting of this area, buy a reel of jewelry shain and really go to town making chain webs and such.
@kestral Thank you , I haven't been updating this blog nearly enough the past five years , but i hope to rectify that, I hope you like what you see. I have a better backlog of my hobby stuff on my blog , its missing the entire 2016 because i deleted the blog and forgot to back that year up but i will get around to re uploading that content at somepoint
https://distopus.blogspot.co.uk/
@weirdingway I use blogger as my image host , you can create a blog and not publish posts , just upload them and link to them really easy , i would be upset if blogger went down like photobucket did though
I loved your original techs but your new ones upped the ante ! yeah the ogryn does have a spyrer vibe doesn't he , unintentional thogh , he also looks a bit like a eldar warp spider.. allbeit a chunky one and yeah nice to see spider iconography back in munda !
@Ynneadwraith thanks! insta was really easy almost to easy to post and follow other, it got a bit distracting for me , as i am like a puppy .. ooh shiny ! facebook seemed a better balance but its facebook ! they have a great inq28 scene though.. I like the fact that beastmen might have been genetically modified to be that way during the dark age of technology ..
@ LL cheers buddy !
So i just completed a quick build of a scale model hive .. scaled at 1cm to 1km and the height of the hive is about 20km : 20cm , painting suggesting would be welcome . cheers!

that is definitely not from this world...that much is clear...
some pieces i can detect and possibly name...but all in all it is something i would have never been able to replicate...this is so way out of my league...
as for paintjobs on this piece...i´d go with monochrome...on that scale...i doubt if it would be able to see different colors at all...
by the way... you need to put that in a small glass dome...just like the ancient city of kandor....

Thanks for the shout-out, Llamahead.
I have been quietly following along here for a long time, Neil101.
Great work throughout.
Nice tiny hive build.
Yeah, painting details at this scale is... tricky. But it's good to add a little to put the idea over that details exist, without trying to accurately depict every detail. Think about how comics do background detail off in the distance (a window here and there, but not every window).

Dude! That is stone-cold awesome absolutely love the BFG ship for scale. The hive dwarfs it and we all know how massive 40k starships are.
Definitely chuckled at the scale pictures of the lord and titan. Couldn't see the writing in the first pic on my phone, and could just make out 'Lord something' and thought 'wow that is a big city!'.
Then I scrolled down and saw...no...the figure is a titan. The Lord is the little pixel beside it
