New spawns....

1. C:CSM - I have seen the enemy, and it has a very fat terminator on the cover
2. Jumpy Lord - Ugh, unfortunate in so many ways.
3. Khorne Lord - I actually liked the lumberjack lord before this pic of him built ... but I still like him ok, maybe with a different backpack
4. Termi Lord - One of the less cool builds I guess? Kinda blah here, we'll see what else comes from the kit.
5. CSM - Yep, good old CSM plastics. Enforces the heavy Corsairs theme of the Nü Chaos.
6. Spawn - WOW that eyeball one is cool! Pity about being metal, but these are very cool. I hope there are more or these are cheap enough to convert off of, seeing how you can take units of them now (right?).

Those Spawn are not metal. They are built from the new plastic kit. Believe me, it is awesome. There is an entire row of eyeballs on the sprue. There are probably over 100 parts total on the sprue. Very cool!

I actually like the Termi-Lord. Nice that its plastic. I'm super excited about the spawn. Its great that they've finally released a plastic spawn building kit. No two spawn are the same and now that'll be true on the tabletop as well.

So the spawn will be more like the WFB Giants... lots of options for the money. I like it. I like the Lord in termie armor and the CSMs are sharp.

I concur about the Termi-General. He looks like a classy bad boy, worthy of HTH combat with an autarch on the shore as dawn arises, not like the rest of the baroque on steroids boys.

 

Like the spawn as well. They have a very disconcerting feel to them and remind me more of some of the 2nd ed demons for some reason.

Even more funny, that isn't a fat terminator on the cover. Look at his backpack. He's a really fat power armored guy.


That is great news. Sounds like it will be a nice source of bits for adding possesion to vehicles.

Heard great things about the Chaos Spawn kit. Can't wait to see it.

I know they're pushing Huron Blackbeard and the Red X Marines but this is just taking it a step too far!  The Red X Marines love Red X's so much they've actually turned into Red X's themselves!

The paintjobs only seemed to hurt the cornlord and flying sicarius.

The spawns are cool though. And the termy lord is nice but that pic is of his most boring options.

The angle on the Khorne lord does him no justice, i thik from a better POV, he will look great.

The raptor CL look skind of lame, IMO. i dont care for the cahins over his head, but maybe it will be better in RL.

The CSM's look awesome, but then, they already did.

The terminators look to be fantastic, and i think the Termie lord will have cooler builds available.

The spawns just kick arse, what cool models!

I like the JumpLord. He's like: "But Ma, you bought me these clothes from Hot Topic, and now you say I can't wear them to school? That's so not fair!!"

Who is the dude on the cover? A new Captain from the Black Legion, or did Abaddon cut his topknot off(and gain a plasma pistol)?

Very bland and boring, dont like any of them.

Heck, my gf who loves all things chaos and dark even says they are too neat. Except for the spawns, but they are just ridiculous.

the new Chaos spacemarines look just like the old sprues? am i missing something? and the red and black paint skeme sucks

The lord with the Power Axe and Stormbolter, is generic, but OK. B+

The Khorne Lord with the Giant Axe is at a bad angle, but looks like pretty nice model overall. B+

The vampire Raptor Lord is goofy. Definitely the loser of the bunch. D

The Chaos Space Marines don't look much different. I prefer this colour scheme to the old one though. A

The Chaos Spawn are about on par with the Fantasy ones. Not my thing, but they look OK for those that like them. B-

Overall, the releases are pretty generic, nothing stands out as a 'must-have' model they way the new Chaos Marines did when they first were released or Typhus did.

On the plus side, the generic look allows lots of rooms for players to innovate with more interesting colour schemes and conversions to add some character to the models.

Just like all the other Marine releases that have dominated the 40k release schedule in recent years - they're very similar to their predecessors. But plastic.

You see what we're talkin' about here is an organism that imitates other lifeforms, and it imitates them perfectly.

This for instance.  That's not Chaos.  It's imitation.
