So forgeworld has some totally sweet looking Tau BFG ships.  But I cannot find army lists or unit rules for those ships (so I have no idea if the Tau army sucks in BFG or not).  Can someone point me to a place where I might find them.  I'm not asking for a freebe, if there is an order button, I cant find it.

I believe that Armada is now released on www.specialist-games.com.  The Tau army list is available free there.

The Forgeworld ships are used in place of the SG models, and I believe you can find the "counts as" rules on Forgeworld for free as well.

Thanks for the info. Now I just need to find someone whos actually played with them and see if they are any good, or how severly handicapped they are right out of the gate. I know very little about BFG but it looks like it might be fun. And tau look like the only ships that I would like to field. Just too cool looking.

As far as I know, Tau are as solid and balanced as any other fleet, except maybe orks.  General consensus is that the Orks are the only "handicapped" fleet.  You can win with orks, for sure, but it's a challenge.  I haven't heard any complaints about the Tau.  So if you're looking for a well-playing fleet, Tau certainly qualify.  The BFG forums on specialist-games.com have some pretty good information.

You should be aware of a couple of things about the Tau. The Forge World vessels are (clearly) different from the Specialist Games minis. The 'official' Tau fleet list covers the SG minis, and there are established 'counts as' rules for the FW vessels. I believe that there are FW Tau fleet rules in the Taros Campaign book, but I dont know how good these are.

In addition, the SG forum for Gothic has at least four continuing threads where players are putting together a 'Commerce Protection Fleet', which covers the FW vessels. My recommendation would be to work your way through this and try it out.

All the best.

Tau is a great fleet to run.

They are almost like the 40K tau. Lots of shooting, lots of missiles.
I believe Tau are the only ones with torpedo/missiles that can turn in the game. Their ships are also quite sturdy and can take a pounding.

I would play more BFG if it wasn't for the broken Necron fleet...

The new IAv3 Taros Campaign covers the rules for the forgeworld ships, but doesn't have rules for a Tau fleet list.  They said it was something they didn't have time to develop and simply included the rules to use in the Taros historical refight scenarios in the back of the big book.  The refights look like they'd make good BFG scenarios though.

I didn't look through the BFG section to get a good feel for the FW Tau ships, but I imagine they aren't too far off from their counts as counterparts.  I'll post more comments when I'm reunited with my book.
