Sad? Did you read the last sentence of the article? She already knew 1. she was going to lose the title by traveling. 2. she was going to lose the title in 2 to 3 yrs anyhow due to tradition first menstration, bamn no title. So it was probably an opportunity to either test tradition, inform the world of another culture, or worst case cash in before she was cashed out.
