Ok I have not played in quiet some time so my friend is dusting off his marines and I'm bringing my tyranids back. I've come up with this list. Its not geared for winning but more for fun. I've loved the nid concept and looks so here it is. Alot of the choices might not be best, Lictors for example, but like I said, for fun. I was temped to drop the genestealers down to 8, so I wouldn't have to buy more, and then bump up the other guants and nids, but having the extra bodies sounds nice. Oh, as for not having the Extended Carapaces on the Tyrant and Carniflex I don't tend to see many missile launches around here, just lascannons so that upgrade would do little for me. So I guess, tell me what you think please. HQ: 1xHive Tyrant 145pts -1x SC, BS, STR, VC Elites: 3x Warriors 111pts - Init, BS, STR, 1x SC, DV, EC 3x Warriors 111pts - Init, BS, STR, 1x SC, DV, EC 2x Lictors 160pts Troops: 12x Termaguants 72pts - FB 12x Termaguants 72pts - FB 12x Hormaguants 144pts - Init, WS 12x Hormaguants 144pts - Init, WS 15x Genestealers 240pts Heavy: 2x Zoanthropes 130pts - WB, SYN 1x Carniflex 166pts - Init, WS, BS, BE, VC, SC

A couple of immediate comments:
Lictors are extremely expensive for what they can do. At the 1.5k mark, even for fun games, I'd have at most 1 of them. Personally, I think they're much too killable and not killy-enough at 80 points to warrant using at all (which is regrettable, since they've always been one of my favorite Nid units fluff-wise).
The warriors look slow. If your friend is using any heavy bolters, these warriors won't really be doing much. I feel like the Leaping biomorph helps alleviate that issue somewhat, but that would really suggest changing them to a more CC role (aka. Rending Claws as opposed to the Devourers).
Termaguants - have you considered the ubiquitous spinegaunt instead? At 5pts/model, they're a really nice way of getting lots of body on the table. Also...aren't Termagants 7pts/model (your numbers point to 6/model) ? I don't have my book on me, but I could've sworn they were more than 6.
Genestealers - 15 of these suckers in one unit makes a really really big target. Why not split into 2 smaller groups? keeps roughly the same numbers on the table, but with more flexibility and better ability to hide being cover.
Carnifex - I'd highly recommend Yakface's article on Carnifex builds, it provides really good analysis of what's good/not good to take on Carnifexes.

You can't take +1 Initiative and +1WS, you can take one, or the other, but not both. I think I'd drop the lictors and add another brood or warriors. That leaves you enough points to either give that brood wings (which they'll need once you're hormagaunts outrun synapse) or with 49 points left over, you could beef up the hive tyrant and/or carnifex.

Ok, I've had some time to revise my list and push it out to 2000pts. I did double check and the Termagaunts are 6pts each, 4 for the gaunt and 2 for the gun. For the single point more than the Spinegaunt I like the option of potentially shooting at light armored vehicles or weak rear armor if the option arises. I've been noticing a trend in most tyranid armies of seriously pumped up carniflexes, warriors, and hive tyrants. I'm trying a different approach. Little to no upgrades. Why pay for an upgrade of +2 armor over +3 armor when the enemy has mainly AP2 weapons? I'm sure many will disagree with the lack of str, ws, or init upgrades on alot of these, but I think its worth a try.

I'm not that familiar with 'nids, but I'm pretty sure there is some kind of relatively cheap upgrade you can get your HS 'fexes to give them an additional wound. Why would you not do this?
What is the HS 'fex with Talons going to accomplish? I don't see how he's going to successfully close to CC with anything at all (maybe a drop pod, or an immobilised vehicle!). You'd be better off with a second VC/BS 'fex.
Why not shooty Tyrants?
