Quick question, do the plastic turbaned guys for LotR has seperate arms or would it be too hard to rearm them with pistols or rifles?

I was looking at them for possible cultists if the codex SPACE DEMONZZZZ happens.

Pretty sure they're all one piece, both spear and bow guys. I'm a fan of them myself, have schemed up many many possible ways to use them ... but haven't moved on any of them, despite the cheapness

Hopefully someone else can help you in your convertings, would make descent cultists in general. Once upon a time I was going to use them as mutants, simply because of their armament. Also, turbans clearly = T4

Most of the Harad guys are one piece, but some of the spearmen are two piece, with the second piece being usually a hand and an arm attached to the spear. If memory serves, the guys holding the spear over their head and the ones holding the spears out at waist level are two piece.

The guys with the spear overhead are relatively simple to convert to a two-handed weapon pose - glue the hand to the wrist but not the elbow to the bicep when attaching the second piece, then snip the spear and the left arm after the glue had hardened. The right arm can rotate down on its peg and the left gets glued into position and a greenstuff sleeve to cover the cut marks on the left elbow.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

Maybe putting them on a bit higher level would balance them out with guardsmen. Like put some flat stone or something on the base to give them a bit more height. That would make them fit in a bit better because the height difference isn?t too big but a little help would make them seem much taller.

Then they'll probably only come up to the waist on a Vostroyan! Seriously, while the models are nice, I personally think the scales are to disimilar for them to work together unless you're considering pygmy cultists.

I don't think their size would be too bad, I would expect miserable beragged sewer dwelling cultists to be a bit smaller than well-fed upstanding defenders of the Space Empire.

Even if I never use them it will be a fun project.

Thanks guys.

It's not so much size that's the issue as the style. Most LotR figs are "natural" in scale rather than "heroic/comic book" like 40k. So you don't get the exaggerated musculature, hands, feet and weapons that you get with 40k and WFB models. It's probably worth a try though as plastic Haradrim are cheap as chips on eBay, and nowadays mixing ranges is tourney-legal.

Are you sure about that?

From the 2007 GT rules PDF:

"The Lord of The Rings models may be used only in The Lord of The Rings tournaments. You cannot field an army of Uruk-hai as Warhammer Orcs. The same rule applies in reverse – you cannot use Warhammer or Warhammer 40,000 models in games of The Lord of The Rings."

Also, I'm a little confused about what's actually legal for a Chaos army at Baltimore, going from the approved army lists.  No LatD because of the new Chaos book being out, but legions from the Books of Chaos are legal as are mounted 'nettes??

Yeah, but if you have 40k limbs on a LotR body which background does it come from? Both is the answer... so the tourney rules need a FAQ for conversions!  Yet more quality rulings from a company seemingly incapable of writing rules with any more structural integrity than Swiss cheese!

At the last UK LotR GT I saw a rule that said LotR armies converted using parts from WFB were legal for play, but would only be unable to win the "best painted army" prize because they would be unable to publish the pictures in WD...

Go figure...

Guys, thanks for worrying but tourney legal is SO not important to me. I mean I'm going to arm them with AK47s (assuming I do this). They can then play double duty as EVIL ARAB TERRORISTS.

Oh I feel so un-PC.

I'll have to model up some rightous Arab freedom fighers to go with them.

Who were those guys in Rambo III? They seemed pretty decent God-fearing folk.
