Painting the interior walls of the caboose black*, will help with the light blocking greatly!

Nice. Good advice too. I'll probably start with that as a light blocker then go with something more prototypical as I "decorate" the interior. Lots of photos of wood caboose interiors out there.

Well, bushido for sure... but I'm kinda thinking I might play around with some 40k stuff as well. Just for nostalgia's sake.

Thank you. Actually it was part of an airbrushing lesson for a friend. You'll note the back of the rhino is missing in an odd way. I was happy to get a decent blend with someone else's airbrush after so long a time not using my own.

I also discovered that if you airbrush Vallejo's "blue" over black primer... you get a really deep violet color, not blue. You need to add white to the mix to bring it up to a recognizable blue.

The spark came back two days ago. Here's what I've been up to. Getting ready for Adepticon by cranking out objectives for the six boards I'm bringing.

First, the "small" objectives. Been working on my granite... think it's coming along pretty well.

Here's the whole group of six sets of small objectives.

Quick and dirty 4" area-of-control objective to go on a lava (grey stone) board. I just HAD to put some foliage on there... but I made sure it was all dead first. I figure some pioneer grasses and dead leaves blown in by the wind is OK.

Lastly, I got an idea for an extra set of objectives... paper lanterns on poles next to a path. The log on the ground is actually filling in the slot for the base, but it'll make for a nice separation of the background and the path (in grey). These are far from done.

Nice job on the objectives . I’ve placed another order now that the newest wave is available. It should have the newest Minimoto Clan and the last two (non-exclusive) ninjas in the order.

Where are the paper lanterns from? I was trying to create some of my own but those look far better.

Thanks guys!

@Theo: I'll be getting the Tengu spear babe as her sculpt is just kickin'! Also the little crabs for my pirates. (Pirates with crabs, who'd believe it?)

Paper lanterns are from Master Crafted Miniatures in the UK. He's got a bunch of other great stuff too.

@graven: Not sure there's going to any more on the rhino, at least for a while. It was just an airbrushing lesson after all.

Nice to see you again Stonelessword! I'm no where near as productive as I used to be... and now scattered across a bunch of hobby things. But I hope you'll still find interesting things to look at.

Thanks! (though if you're talking about the green marble tabletop... that's real... belonged to my grandmother, circa early 1900s)

I will definitely have progress to show tonight. Going to throw myself at those lantern objectives & the 4" wood discs I use as the base for my area-of-control objectives came in yesterday... so I'll be busy with those as well.

So cool Gits! I really like those lanterns, what a cool idea but that rhino just screams Night lords to me! great job on it even though it's a practice piece :-)

Adepticon prep continues.

New set of 4" area-control objectives. Here you see the direct application of my model railroading diversion applied to a gaming application (powders used to weather the vinyl bricks).

Posts for the paper lanterns are done.

Also putting together the tables I'm responsible for bringing so I can make sure they are complete and well designed. Have 3 finished and the other three nearly so. The tables below are all finished except for the lava table which needs the crystals painted. The tables are in the orientation that you would play on them.

I'm working on some interesting stuff right now, but there's a lot of "hurry up and wait" and there's a lot of drying time involved for glue, flocking and washes. I need to remind myself that Adepticon is NOT next week... but still a few weeks away. If I keep working steadily, I should be way ahead of the game.

Update... finished a public announcement sign. I managed to get all 3 types of Japanese writing on here... which isn't good for a period piece... however, it'll do for now.

Is there any form of height advantage in Bushido? I'm concerned the first table provides both a higher level of terrain, and a place to 'hide' starting miniatures. Seems very biased toward that 'far' side.

Otherwise, gorgeous! Frankly, the 'harbour' table is amaze-balls.

One more table down. Kind of a sylvan/conifer forest theme going on here. Color is all wrong on the photo but you get the idea.

Are the trees made from chimney cleaner brushes? They look like that model railroad trick . Also how did you do the hay/straw objective markers, they look ace.
