Thanks RiTides... I'm sure I'll need a lot of encouragement once the project starts.

Seriously pissed off Oni. Has a real Hellboy look. Good job on the details.

I am alive and painting. I need to set up a decent photo booth. All these crappy phone pics just don't do it for me.

Yeah Yorkright... I should do a faction pic as I'm kind of at a stopping point, at least for a while.

That Oni is rad, one of my little boys (6yo) came in the room and asked me "is that an Oni?" I was thinking "how the hell does he know that?" lol, he said he knows about them because of Yo-Kai

@HT: LOL! Well, at least it's recognizable. I'll re-build my good camera set-up and take some decent photos of my Savage Wave forces. I think I've hit upon a pretty nice list all things considered, and with a little work will have a very different variant on the theme (bakemono rather than oni).

Well... didn't want you guys thinking I wasn't doing anything at all. I know this isn't the 40k that you really want to see, but the last of the Iyanden figures are trickling in so you need to be a bit patient.

I'm working on the second "Savage Wave" list for Bushido. Both take advantage of my dog pack, an excellent group of 4 dogs plus their "alpha".

The first war-band (at 100 points) is what I call the "Alpha Dogs" (because of the "Alphas" theme it uses). It consists of two Oni (demons/ogres), one of whom is specifically designed to buff the dogs, the other of which just works well with them, the dog pack and a human slave or two.

The second war-band still includes the dogs, but instead of the Oni includes 7 bakemono (think gremlins from the movie of the same name). The bakemono are diminutive but also very interesting and tough in their own way. They have a pack mentality like the dogs thanks to their special theme called "Thousand Eyes", and as such I think they'll make a good compliment. They're also awesome figures... especially the newer characters that I can't wait to paint!

The trick has been that I decided to put them on bases with resin inserts to set them apart from the rest for the faction. However that means cutting off the "slotta-base" bits from the figures and pinning already tiny models onto the bases. I also had to pin most of the arms or they'd be constantly falling off. It also means finishing the bases first, then painting the bottom of the models, then attaching the models to the bases and finishing the painting. I suppose there's an easier way to do this, but I'm committed to this one for the duration of this project.

Thus, here is where the project stands. Bases are done. All pinning is done though the models aren't permanently attached to the bases yet. I can finally start painting! Yay!

BTW, I'll call this list "Dogs & Frogs".

Love the Bakemon sculpts, the bases look amazing. They almost look like little statues you would find in the park. A very strange park...
Can't wait to see how they turn out.

Those Bakemone are looking pretty cool! Agressive little buggers, by the looks of it.

Thanks guys. I just ran out and bought two more that it turns out I probably need to make the list work properly. They're much bigger than the others but still fit the theme. Bases are done and the inserts are finally glued into them. Now all I have to do is set aside a little painting time!

Here's the current progress on my bakemono. I'm doing them in a batch to try and make the most of my painting time. Goal is to have them done by Halloween (they are goblins after-all).

One of the models is finished... Heretsuna, the "Ghost Ninja". He's not actually supposed to be white... I was getting him ready to paint black and the white just happened. Nice thing is if I change my mind I can just apply black washes over and over again until he's appropriately black. That's how I do my blacks now-a-days anyway (though I usually start with a dark grey with light grey, then white highlights before applying 2 or 3 layers of wash).

I've gotten totally fed up with my camera's ability to take decent model pics so just ordered an inexpensive little tent & lights so I can go back to taking worthwhile photos with my digital camera.

Thanks guys. Still hoping to get them done by (and including) Halloween but hope is slowly fading. Just have way too much to do. Busy each night, work deadlines, etc. I'll keep at it though regardless.

The Bushido Grand Masters at Adepticon is set for Friday that week. 40 slots open. Nice to have that settled.

Thanks guys! Unfortunately reality has reared its ugly head and I won't be able to finish them until the week after next. But I'm happy with them so far.
