Hi folks,

Here is a link to a gallery containing photos of my various Titans, including my pride and joy, the "Vae Victis".

http://www.5000plusgames.com/armies.html  (then go to "Forgeworld / Titans".)

She's a WH40K scale (54 cm tall) MK II Warlord Titan, with a MK I style head. I was inspired to go with this "model" from a piece of artwork in the first Firepower magazine... and 18 months later, here we are !

She's (as with anything this size) still a WIP - next job is some custom made Legio Titanicus transfers, and to finish off some other weapon fits for her.

Also in the gallery are my other Titans ( Armorcast - 1 Reaver, and 2 Warhounds) and my Forgeworld stuff, plus a heap of other stuff from other club members.

Enjoy - any constructive criticism gratefully accepted !

Padre^. (AKA Jim Archer.)

Padre, that's quite a project and a huge model! Major kudos for the effort and the result. Like the old armorcast titans, your looks a bit cartoonish. It all works together well, however. I would love to see some weathering and small details that convey the sense of scale more.

I wonder why your site is banned in Red China.

Looking at it from work I can see it I really like it.  I agree with Scarab (hey man, how's tricks) that it needs more weathering, the big spaces of solid color look a bit too fisher price to me.  MOre bitz will also help.

When I did mine I used tons of skeleton shield sprue skulls, plaster skulls (now OOP but the ones on the new skully stonehedge should work) and so on to make mine all GW-Gothik.

To be fair, the lack of surface detail does fit in nicely with the Armorcast Titans...

The head looks a tad large, and the weapons a tad small, but otherwise I like it. Some extra detail would be nice, but it's a perfectly serviceable titan as is.

Thanks guys.

Scarab, Insaniak - by mentioning the Armorcast Titans, you paid me a high compliment (!), as that's exactly the effect I was aiming for. As you would have seen in the gallery, I've got the other Armorcast Titans, and I was trying to match this one in with them. (Next project is my A'Cast Eldar Phantom...watch this space...)

Scarab - thanks mate. I'm going to stick some more smaller details on in the next few days...purity seals, extra armour plates, some FW skulls etc.

Insaniak, agree with the call about the weapons being a little small - I'm working on some carapace mounted Quake Cannons to give it a little extra oomph.

KK - "Banned in Red China?" Our webguru doesn't know anything about his site being banned anywhere ! Thanks for the link and the feedback - I'm going to do some work on those plates, Legio transfers being the first step.

So, would the 3 of you have any suggestions for weathering effects on something this size ? This is my first scratchbuild, so any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Cheers,

Padre^.

You webmaster woulnd't know about your site being blocked by the 'Great Firewall'. Sometimes it's a case of an out of context keyword, or your site being housed on the same server as something objectionable. Sometimes it's just a mystery. They certainly don't bother to tell anyone.

As for weathering, well you've seen my meger skills. My best advice is an unven coat of brown ink across the flat areas and maybe drill in some bullet holes. Scarab would have more specific hints.
