Ok, lets get things staight. I like Chaos, and like to play as Chaos and I like to play around as Chaos on threads.

That doesn't mean Iuld want to BE apart of Chaos if it were real. Yes, I would most likely join the IG, or maybe even try for Space Marinehood.

Um, he is not. And anyway, he bitchslapped Horus and killed him while suffering from a mortal wound. I read that, had the 4 Gods stayed in Horus, the Emperor's psychic might would've obliterated them. Gotta love the Emperor, keep that Pimp-Hand strong bro!

In any case, the Emperor is, at the very least, in stable enough of a condition to keep the Demons at bay and the 4 chaos gods away.

the Emperor's soul is in the warp now and is constantly fighting the daemons of chaos.

Wow! Looks like I've been away for too long and the False Emperor's stench is all over this thread now..seriously now..:

1.) He's dying/already dead
2.) His soul (the only useful part of him) is in the warp to guide the Astropaths, so it has to fight Daemons and other Chaos manifestations 24/7
3.) His lackeys (especially the Inquisitors) are tight-asses, following HIS will
4.) There is (and has been) a stalemate for millenias..humanity re-conquers a few planets, then loses some, kills some enemies, and loses some of it's own men...the Imperium isn''t getting anywhere...

Is anyone gaining ground in the grimdark future? The only measure of how well an army is doing is by how over powered the codex is...

And screw the Emperor. I'd be a green skin. At least then I could do what ever I wanted... while away from a stronger ork, and I'd have a reasonable chance at not getting killed by my one guys, cause they miss everything. ;P

Tau are sort off gaining ground. But in relation to the size of the imperium its like stealing a few grains of sand from your neighbors sandbox

I'm still in the works of deciding if my Beastguard army (basically guardsmen bodies with beastmen bitz, heads, banners, horns, etc) should be one of those "atoning" abhuman regiments, or just Chaos Beastmen.

The thing is, the Emperor and the Imperium are not one in the same.

The majority of the Imperium worships the Emperor, but there is a reason its not called the "Imperium of the Emperor" and it IS called the "Imperium of MAN"

If your a human, you would fight for your kind, the I.O.M, because you know Chaos will just feth you over, and everything else wants to kill you (Tau are just dumb).

Aswell, there's too much of a risk to join Chaos/Tau, because if anyone even suspects it, your're dead.

They put a huge fear factor into every citizen, but disguise this with the Emperor Faith.

So, a Human would fight for the I.O.M because thats HIS race, same goes for every other race (excluding Chaos, of course)

Its up to that individual if he wants to fight for the Emperor, just keep it to yourself.

We fight for the imperium so that the innocent population does not get overrun by orks, heretic, necrons etc..
That is why we fight for the Imperium of MAN as Karon kindly pointed out

I think Karon has hit the nail on the head here. You don't have to fight for the Emperor, even if you want to fight. You fight for your own reasons, be they for the safety of your friends or hating xenos or being a psychopathic bastard who delights in slaughter and would rather be encouraged to enjoy yourself instead of getting burnt alive if you joined a Khorne cult. (You could probably worship Khorne anyway if you kept it quiet, just dedicate all your kills to him, he doesn't seem too fussed about lip service or having his own servants killing each other.)

You just don't say that you aren't fighting for the Emperor and have no interest in fighting for his name. That tends to be lethal.

If you do not fight for the Emperor you are not fighting for Humanity.

Chaos is bad. They just want more bodies to use in their war.

The only why humanity can truly surivive is to fight for The Emperor.

Lost

Read this.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

Uthan the Perverse, a controversial Eldar philosopher.

The Orks plague the galaxy from the end to end with their ceaseless warring and strife. They are a race rooted so deeply in war that peace is utterly incomprehensible to them. They cannot be bargained with or bought save with weapons that they will inevitable turn against those who tried to bribe them. I pray with all my faith that some great catastrophe will annihilate them but I fear that ultimately it is they, not we, who shall rule the galaxy.

Xanthius, High Lord of Terra

Orkses is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!

Commonly held Ork view of warfare

LONG LIVE MORK AN GORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I win...

Fighting for the Emporer is like fight for Hitler.... The Inquistion seems like the SS to me... hunting down "heretics" (people who are just trying to make a honest living). I don't mind fighting for humanity just not for one man and a corrupt system of government. You can just call me a "Fallen" not for chaos but not for the Emporer also....

Yes, but you should probably save it until AFTER the battle.

Unless you're a snotling, then your boned.

Also, I think if anyone's making any progress in the Galaxy it's the Tyranids, to be perfectly honest. I mean think about it: most fluff points to the idea that no matter what we do, the Tyranids will simply evolve past it, and when we get more technology, they will evolve past that too. There's no limit to the Tyranids power. We don't know how many there are, and we don't know if the Hive Fleets we've been seeing are just the scouts of a more substantial attack. We don't know enough to judge how large of a threat they actually are. They're not like the Ork hordes, that could be deadly if they banded together, as the Tyranids are bound together by something altogether worse than a war-based culture. They are bound by an incredibly powerful Psychic presence, one so powerful that some believe it to be one of the Old Gods. Genestealers have infiltrated almost every corner of the Galaxy, ready to strike at a moments notice when the Hive Fleets arive, so they've proven time and time again that they can infiltrate the Imperium quite easily. Unless the Imperium can find out more about a way to stop them for good, there will eventually come a time when the people of the Imperium will not be able to stay a step ahead of the Tyranids, and when that happens, the whole galaxy is screwed (except maybe the Necrons, since they can't be eaten, but maybe they'll rtake the hint move onto another Galaxy to harvest).

That's like saying, "ooo I gotta take a dump but I'm going to save it till after the battle " and then in the middle of the battle when your fight an Ork or something you crap yourself, and then everybody laughs at you and you are known as "the guy who crapped themselves" throughout the galaxy.

Meh, I think the 'Nids will still die. You can't evolve to a point where getting blown to atoms means you're not dead and they're living things that still need food and internal organs so they can still be killed. If the 'Nids penetrate far into the Imperium, they'll just die to ALL THE OTHER RACES! I mean, when the 'Nids go into Imperial space, it isn't just the Imperium that fights it. And anyway, we'd just have to up recruitment by 5 times IF we even ASSUME that the Hive Fleets are scouts (from the 'Nid Codex)!

More likely, all the races will continue to fight each other until the Eldar and some Inquisitors seal up the Eye and the other races are just kept at bay. By the way, I'm a loyal servant of the Emperor, I just suggest consulting with Eldar to get more information on how to kill demons, and, if any race were to seal up the Eye of Terror, it would be the Eldar but with the help of Alpha-Plus psykers supplied by the Imperium.
