Necromancer is pretty cool, he might even pass off as a vampire

Too bad Dwarves dont get a plastic Runelord or something. Heck a lot of other factions could use a new model (ogres for instance)

Maybe, this could be another case of Beastmen Minotaurs

Brian Nelson brings the cool.

Those magic users are all cool, the tzeentch lord is far better front on.

I have to admit this plastic in blisters came right out of nowhere. GW putting singles plastic figures in blisters??

Not that it is not very good news though, because "finecast" would have been no sale for me.

According to BramGaunt, dice will be 8€ and cards 10 € but limited as usual.
And always good to repeat it: Those 4 sorcerers are plastic (clear plastic?), not Finecast. This is a first for singles in blisters.
And according to WD, the Cockatrice is Finecast, all other monsters and terrain plastic as well.

And suddenly my spending for next month is...

Storm of Magic.
Dark Elf Dragon
Sorceress on foot.

Which means I'll have models for both a Sorceress and a Dreadlord on Dragon - that I can field at the same time.

(And as an amusing fact - one dragon dates from 2011 and the other from 1987.)

I like the scenery items and the plastice characters are a very interesting development (I'd be very interested in the price of those compared to Finecast). Sad to say I don't like any of the monsters. The leverl of detail on the Cockatrice looks out of place and the other three just look bad and this is speaking as a fan of the minotaurs and Razogore models. The Dark Elf dragon is on a par with the High Elf one as in they are both eyesores. I hope they release some of the classic Trish 'serpent' dragons in Finecast as they look much better than these.

Interesting that they should call Morrison 'Queen of Creatures' just as they called Morley 'Elfmaster' and both, whilst having good sculpts to their name, seem to be bad at the very things GW has appointed them to.

I quite like all the monsters, even the manticore.

Do you mind if I ask why? lol

I like the manticores head and wings, but the pose is a little iffy I'll grant you.
Plus from the looks of it, new chaos characters come with it which is always a bonus.

I'd prefer the cockatrice more if it was smaller, but's the old grognard in me speaking rather than anything else.

Edit - I think the problem the Manticore has, is it really does look like it's been sculpted more as a biped, than a quadraped, you can see it the most around the gut, hind legs, far too bipedal.
I looked at the area, for ease of nurglifying, rather than some deranged furry groin shots

Would be cool if they released some heftier warmachines for the Dwarfs. Would only make sense since there's gonna be a lot of heftier magic and monsters running around. New runes are cool, but newer models/toys are always nicer.

Would be nice to see a dwarf bombard cannon, the equivalent of the dwarf BFG, or maybe some kind of dwarven super shotgun squad, just some more dakka of sorts.

Maybe new munitions for the dwarf cannons, like cluster bombs, etc.

With plastic single blisters I think the question is now. What determines material used for kits this point forward. I think that most people prefer plastic. I don't mind metal or FC,(once QC issues are fixed)

Secondly I think the Tzeentch lord is so well done, that it could easily be a Herald of Tzeentchh as well except for the fact mine is usually my BSB.

So looks like book, magic cards, dice, my new herald, not sure on any of the monsters. kinda like them all. I may get the dragon and put my high elf prince on it.

...wait, what? The sorceress and other characters are plastic?

So what does that mean, that they made a tiny plastic sprue of a single-posed character with a handful of components like the metal/Finecast models? That's interesting I guess, certainly a product I would be way more confident in buying than the Finecast crap, but I thought the reason they couldn't do that is because of how ridiculously expensive the injection molds were and that they couldn't ever sell enough of the individual models to recoup the cost? Or is this more like the plastic that PP use for their jacks and stuff? And if it is then why aren't they doing that for Finecast, I would have loved plastic incubi, it would have been so much cooler than the flawed crap I paid for.

Or are they going to be doing everything in plastic from now on, and only brought out "Finecast" to replace the existing metal models until they could be replaced later by plastic kits?

Back in the dark

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

Manticore and Chimera are way too chunky for my tastes, I like the cockatrice, the plastic Sorceress and Necromancer are excellent, and will be getting both for Mordheim.

Chaos Sorceror is also good, not so sure on the Tzeentch one, and as I said in the other thread the Black Dragon isn't my cup of tea. Something about the pose is completely off for me, and I'm not sure it fits with the rest of the Dark Elf range.

Terrain is poor, except the Staircase which I will also be getting for Mordheim.

A bit hit and miss tbh.

Does anyone have better pics of the Chimera (sp?)?

The dragon and cockatrice are both pretty easy to make out, but the only chimera pic I saw in this thread was on the page crease and really hard to make out.

The manticore's hard to make out, too... but there' no need

Also, having looked at these a bit more, I have a few more questions:

1) Are the portals the correct size for a DE Webway portal (sorry if asked already, I saw in another thread I believe Kroothawk said "No", but I'd like confirmation). That would've been sweet...

2) The dice look like the previous skull dice, except with a different "6" logo, and washed different colors? Still totally awesome, will probably get these

3) Just an observation- the cockatrice foot-on-tail will be really easy to cut off and replace with something more appropriate. That model is definitely win... as is the dragon, imho, if you do something about the head. Hopefully the Chimera's good, too, once a better pic is posted.

Cockatrice is apparently finecast. Any interested I had in the model has completely evaporated.

This whole 'storm of magic' is probably gonna be a no go for me.

Went digging through my old posts, and guess what? I've been hating on mat ward since before it was cool

Same here--from the reviews I've seen I'm still not convinced about it. Maybe in 6 months or so when packing/bubbles/miscast issues have (hopefully) dropped off!

I will pick up a plastic necromancer, though.

Unless they're doing a different mold than previously, it should be. It looks like the same piece as the Vortex Grenade/Webway Portal.
