If it helps I wasn't 100% happy with this next one, but I managed to salvage him in the end... Another unit for my Raptors, and another model from Shadowspear – the Captain in Phobos armour with a minor conversion...
If by salvage you mean made it look awesome then yes, you really salvaged it!
Have to say, you've pretty much mastered painting marines at this point. All the highlights and shadows are placed perfectly on each bit of armor panel and done in a consistent manner across all the different armies you're painting now. Your raptors collection must be getting pretty big now...got a recent army pic to share?
With this model, I can finally call my First Founding (Loyalist) project complete! For some reason both the first (Space Wolves) and last (Iron Hands) schemes were the most difficult to crack.
Damn you make those primaris models look good. Loving the biker and the iron hands colour scheme looks fantastic in your implementation. Keep it coming!
This marks the culmination of a project 18 months in the making. To paint one marine from each of the First Founding loyalist legions (now chapters), and document the process in a series of PDF painting guides.
The plinth on which these mighty heroes of humanity stand was made for me by my dad, and the plaques on the front and back were made by Little Plastic People.
As they are traditionally less ostentatious and more prosaic than other chapters, I felt the Sergeant Jovan model would make a good captain for my 2nd Company. I gave him an older and more austere appearance with a head swap, and made him feel more like a captain with a company banner.
I went a bit more grimdark than normal on the paint job, with some streaking grime and oil paint mapping.

He does look pretty pissed about being shot at
Next up, second unit from Indomitus – Judiciar conversion. I used the Bladeguard Ancient as the base model, swapped the head for the one from the original Primaris Chaplain and the banner for the axe head from the Adeptus Custodes Captain-General Trajann Valoris model. I did some micro-surgery on the axe head to move the trigger handle for the built-in bolter up to the top section.
