Cheers Gobert! I have seen some cool diamond pattern designs on the old instagram that I'd love to try but I'm much too chicken

Well my old Eldar army was basically reversed Saim-Hann with white bodies and red helmets. Originally I considered doing the same but the thought of painting that much white filled me with great sadness and woe. So instead I've gone for a scheme basically replicating my High Elves. Dark red body with a yellow helmet. Robes and that will be white/grey.

My wife and I are going to be moving house soon so I'm trying to get a few things done before then.

Hello one and all! It's been a bit of a while for an update. I was working for a little while in Saudi and me and my wife have just moved house (temporarily before another house move.. but that will be permanent!)

So most of my warhammer has been packed away but there is another little project I've been working on.. Some Rohan / D&D minis.

The homebrew campaign I run is basically a fantasy Saxon setting and although there's a lot of viable Early Medieval historical minis I could have picked up, a lot of course don't have armour on which is difficult for D&D. Although I do have my eye on some Victrix minis because they look great.

We've been playing online but finally moving back to the homeland so I can play with mates in person, so I ordered some Rohan minis. Although they are primarily for this purpose I really want to give Battle Companies a shot because that looks really fun.

So here are the first two minis I spent a few hours on yesterday.

In warhammer terms these are just some basic rohanus stabbicus and rohanus shooticus..

But in D&D the spear armed lad is known as Jaques du Beaumarchaid, from a realm known as Augille. The archer is Baelryd, both are local guards.

Hope you all like them! It was so nice to be able to sit down and paint again!

Thanks Gobert! Yeah I went for the blue for the Dungeons and Dragons purposes but to be honest I like different schemes for lotr minis.

Another 4 warriors of Rohan, bringing this up to a neat little warband. Just 4 to go and I've finished my first batch and all the ones in blue. I have a fun little conversion idea planned for the next 12. I'm looking forward to it and I'll pop up a tester soon.

And in 40k news, I've been building up one of my birthday presents, finally got myself some Sicarians. I've gone for the taser goad option which I hope was the right choice. I think narratively, infiltrators fit perfectly with my explorator theme, the next few I will do some little kitbashes with.

That's all for now!

Thanks folks! I'm happy with how they are looking, got a few more to do before the warband is finished. I've got some fun conversions planned for the rest of the box.

However, let me pull your attention back from the wonderful wilds of Rohan and the wonders of Middle Earth and off we go to the grim darkness of the far future.

So these are the last 5 of my Delaque box which if you cast your minds back I put together in a Kill Team. I had a hell of a lot of fun last night putting these guys together. I love the Delaque gangers, so tall and spindly, perfect for my admech. They look even better with the rust stalker Sicarian gas masks that I had spare.

With the previous 5 I was worried they wouldn't look "skitarii ranger" enough so I made sure they had the ranger heads, but with these I figured why not experiment.

This stubber gunner is possibly one of my most favourite kit bashes that I've worked on, certainly since I got back into the hobby. My old armies used to have tons of daft things like this in. Of course in game it works as the usual skitarii sniper, pinpoint machinegun fire works the same right? I'm particularly fond of my servitor made up from spare parts. I really wanted it to look like some kind of twisted homunculus and hopefully that comes across. He is a lovely Horrible Little Man.

That's all for now, hope you folks enjoy!

Thanks Gobert! Yeah he's gross and therefore wonderful

You may remember my Reclaimator Haryssen Fyrd who rides into battle on his wolf quad.

Well his other bodyguard servitor is now complete and therefore my kataphron breachers are finally done.

Some other exciting news, I finally found someone to help me 3D print some things so now I can finally create my Kettenkrads! It's extremely exciting and hopefully the bits will be shipped to me soon.

Cheers for now, more on the way soon!

Fourth of Plans: This is my favourite plan so far, so I've left it till last. I truly love the Serberys models and I would eventually like them, but my current plan is to pick up some of the GSC jackals and convert them into...

The mighty Kettenkrad. What a ludicrous creation. And very much in theme for the Adeptus Mechanicus. I've very much enjoyed using it in Battlefield V. My current idea is simply replace the back wheel with some treads and wallah got some raiders. I've got plenty of leftover guns and heads from the skitarii box so easy enough to convert the riders.

An idea I had nearly 2 bloody years ago has finally come to fruition. I got some tracks 3D printed and they arrived today and at last I got to make a start on this project!

Now, it is a wee bit different to how I originally envisioned them. I just couldn't get some treads small enough to fit on both sides, so this is the best I could do. In the end though, I am pretty happy. It needs some tweaking here and there and I have another three to do to refine the method. I need to figure a little way to cover the treads a bit I think because otherwise it looks to obvious that they aren't attached to anything!

Anyway, hope you folks enjoy.

Cheers.

Cheers Gobert, you have to enjoy the little things. 28mm is where you find the littlest of joys.

So my Serberys Kettenkrad Raiders are all finished, knocked the lot out last night while my wife was playing Baldur's Gate. I fixed the issue of the lack of connections on the new three but I accidentally chucked a bit from the first one. I'll have to think up how I'm going to fix that.

Look at that bloody mouldline eh? You always think you have them all and they pop up right in your face to taunt you!

I'd like to think you can fire on the move on my kettenkrads as well as you can riding a mechanical horse dog.

So pleased to have finally got this unit done. To think I had those guys in a box just waiting for so long. Let me know what you folks think.

Up next, I have to throw some paint on my various constructions so far.

I had a fun idea for an upcoming project but I still need to finalise it in my head.. (I'm thinking AoS Dryads for a xenobiologist version of the electropriests)

Cheers for now!

Another admech update here.

You may or may not remember I converted up some ambots from Necromunda because I wanted an excavator style to fit with my Explorator Fleet and their technoarchaeologist leader.

Well here the first one is finally bloody painted!

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I wanted this to look more like a personal creation of the Forge World which is why it is in the yellow colours. I had painted my other Kastalens very differently because I really liked the idea of them being wandering bots that just turn up unannounced from another age.

The "green and cream" on the shoulder pads was a bit of a test run for an idea I had for how to paint the Kettenkrads.

Well that's all for now.

Cheers!

Thanks Gobert! You do a lovely job as a cheerleader and it is most appreciated! I'll send the pompoms and mini skirt in the post

So this is a mini that I didn't want to touch since I built it because I was very worried my painting skill wouldn't match up. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out although I suspect I might need to add some freehand designs to the robes?

I present the leader of my explorator fleet - the chief Technoarchaeologist and Grand Magos of Labrunnia IX - Xantheos Lazarin

One thing I enjoy doing is painting skin (not in a weird way), unfortunately for me, the admech reckon the flesh is proper weak. So it's rare to be able to. I had fun with the cherub at any rate (again, not in a weird way).

I debated a lot on painting liquid in the tanks on the back, but in the end I thought a frosted glass sort of look would be better, makes it more of a mystery.

Hope you folks enjoy my admech, more on the way soon!

Really nicely done with the kettenkrads! A highly overlooked vehicle from WWII that has a lot of practical applications in the far future, where there is only war...

The level of detail and color coordination on the other pieces is enviable- really like 'em.

Thanks! @Boringstuff, @Guardling, @CaptainBrown and Meer_Cat! I appreciate it.

So been fairly busy, house move coming up to finally get moved in to our new house. Been stuck in a rental property due to the housing chain and all sorts of faff. Hopefully nearly sorted.

Last week my wife and I went to Ireland to see some family and head to the Rory Gallagher festival which was fantastic.

Anyway, trying to finish a few things before it is packed away. So I managed to finish my Sicarian Infiltrators.

Not happy with how the Taser Goads look from the front, but they look much better from the reverse so I will try and tidy those up soon.

Cheers all.

Hey all, quick update. Not at work today so I spent a couple hours making these next 5 vanguard.

Adding to the Explorator theme means I get to use a lot of the spares from the GSC kit. I love the mining vibe the GSC have so I've used a lot. I figured Vanguard would likely be using explosives so that's what I went with here. I never want my minis to look bland, so I always try to do some little kitbashes. I find the admech a little tricky because of how the models are put together. Still, complicated builds are part of the fun.

Cheers for now!

Just spent this evening reading through this entire thread. Man, you have done some amazing work over the past few years

I've never played admech in my life. But I have the same philosophy as you about making each model unique with a story. It makes seeing the army at the end so much more fun. Some of the conversions you've done have been absolutely ace. Loved the necromunda mixes as well as the ambots. Will definitely have to steal some of your ideas for my cultist army

Keep up the good work mate! Progress is progress, no matter how small or slow.

Heya Freytag! Thanks for checking out my wee blog, I really appreciate it!

So again not much of an update, haven't really got a painting set up sorted since the house move. Trying to get the remnants of the admech finished so I can put more focus on my other armies.

So as I was unwrapping them and getting them out the moving box to check any damage I thought I'd line up what I have painted for a little army shot. The quality is pretty dire because as with all my photos, it is just on my phone. Anyway, it's nice to see them all together.

I hope to get more work done shortly.

Cheers for now.
