Weirdly there is significantly better DRM on the vault books than there are on the animations (which don't really have any protection at all other than obfuscating the URL of the file on the CDN a bit).

They use Adobe Document Reader. They don't work offline and the client is miserable to read on to be honest. It's not even skinned, it looks like a corporate PDF reader. It's really, really the weakest part of the service despite the content selection being decent.

(The DRM is still not very good, but you would actually have to write some code to get around it unlike the videos.)

Hmm, last day to decide whether or not I really want the terminator and voucher for is it 50? quid. That would make it the most expensive tiny model I have ever bought. But I would love it.

Don't forget you can also just sub monthly and let it tick over. Granted the costs aren't going to be less and you have to wait till next year to get the model, but it might mean the difference between a lump sum cost now and spreading it out. I know my plans for getting early were scuppered because FW is putting some Eldar models out of production so I caved and got one of each

Ah well, I signed up. GW won me over with a model of a 25 year old white dwarf cover for an army I don't even collect, lol, how easily bought I was.

Dunno if I'll bother buying the Chaos Sorceress lady, maybe, probably not.

It did give me a slight worry when I logged in and said I couldn't order the model until August 2023! But after a few minutes the page refreshed and now says I can order it 21/09/2022.

Yeah that won me over too. That terminator was the cover of the very first WD issue I bought. Damn you nostalgia.

Between the renewal discount and spending the voucher on paint with free shipping it works out at a little over £1/month for the digital stuff.

I didn't check other locations, but here in Oz it's 20% cheaper to go for the annual subscription.

But I didn't think it mattered when you started the subscription, as long as it was in the first year you'd get access to the model? Or am I misunderstanding how this all works? I thought if you subbed before the 25/08/2022 you'd get access to the year 1 models, but you'd have to be subscribed for a year before you could get access to the year 2 models or something like that.

Maybe I'm wrong, I found the terms and conditions quite confusing.

Quick PSA: don't order your Year 2 model now unless you absolutely need it right away. We also get a £10 voucher to spend in October and if you use it on something less than £30 you can use the free model to also get yourself free shipping despite the order being under twenty quid.

There's a very old rumour engine pic for this model from around early 2020, so yeah it has definitely been around for a while.

I wonder if it was originally designed as a store anniversary / event model and then covid disrupted that by closing everywhere.
