Cheers Ragsta, yeah there was a little slip there, corrected now, but it has been on my to maybe lean towards the dark side for a little. I obviously originally meant the iron hands, as the api t scheme will attest to, however I have got a small chaos force, courtesy of the combat patrol series, and I do like the look of new iron warriors spruce that they have released.
Thanks for the advice on the painting, I like the suggestions so will move them back to the painting table and sort them out!

Hey gobert, I’m quite proud of the cloak, lots and lots of different grey layers in there right up to the white. Aes me want to go back over one or two other cloaks and improve them considerably!
They are nice models, I’ll have to decide whether the next 5 get designated blue or gifted to a different t project!

Evening all, so bit of history, I’ve had a fascination with battlefleet gothic since it was released. I loved the idea of it, however - for me - it was released at the wrong time, I was young, short of pennies and couldn’t recall justify it. If it is ever released again I’ll be in trouble, or if I manage to find a complete box set anywhere!
As a slight way to satisfy my craziness I decided to resort to the next best thing after models …. Lego!!
So as a deviation from the normal and with no paint brush raised my I present a frigate and cruiser!!

I've seen these Lego warships before, how cool one of us Dakkaites has them! I nearly ended up getting a Nebulon B in brick form myself- I linked it to my wife and requested it as a gift but then I realised it was like 20 inches long and hastily retracted the request- that's alot of space for minis you know!!!

Battlefleet Gothic... Did you see my reply to you on my thread? It's alive and well in the online community and the models aren't tooooo pricey ya know

Evening all,
So far I’ve only seen imperial ships, no chaos or xenos, although there are plenty of Star Wars ships to choose from. Temu has some benefits.
I almost didn’t get the cruiser, I thought the length was going to be a challenge (it’s only 400mm) but space was made on the shelf. Some of those other models are crazy size - they look awesome - but crazy crazy!!
Hey Ragsta - Thanks for the response on BFG, I’ve seen the scrouge scenics stuff before, it looks nice and part of me does want to get some but they are going to redo it at some point I’m sure so I’m going to wait a little for now. Although the temptation is great!!!

This weeks modelling efforts are shown below. I’ve put together a few marines (support squads for my imperials fist and iron hands) and I’ve been painting a second company tactical squad. It’s been slow going but I’m almost there just the arms to finish off, then bases and squad markings and they will be good to go.

Hmmmm, I kind of wish I hadn't looked into this thread and discovered that BFG Lego was a thing... but they are very cool! Might not be overly practical for gaming with though lol

The marines look like they're coming along well too.

Love the old school Tactical Marines. Is the sergeant metal or have you just reproduced those classic poses?

Evening all, I’ve not been able to do much recently, the youngest has decided that 5am is a good time to start the day which has done a great job of curtailing any hobby time. I really wish I had his energy and enthusiasm when I wake up but I suppose that is one of the benefits of having a nap at nursary!!

So it has taken a little longer than usual, but I have managed to finally (after looking at them not change for far too long!) complete the tactical squad. Based and transfers are still needed but apart from that they are good to go.

Afte a little deliberating I’ve decided to finally finish 2/3 of my deathwatch, so 7 have been moved to the painting table. Leaving only Cassius, Edryc Setorac and the free deathwatch minature of the month. The deathwatch have been based black and a light grey dry brush has been applied. I’ve now started on the bolt gun metal for the base on the left arm and othe gubbins, one down a few to go!!

The other more that has made its way to being painted is the Captain of the watch model. He is fine cast, which isn’t ideal, but it’s a nice old model so I’ll manage. Base blue has been done and I’ve decided for the captains I’m going to do the cloaks in the company colours they are meant to represent. Watch will be yellow (2nd), arsenal in red (3rd), fleet in green (4th), recruits in blue (10th). I figure all of them are going to be adorned in the usual golf trim of office so it should be a good way to differentiate them.

@Nev - re BFG - I figured I have a box of Lego duplo which I’m sure could make quite a good Ork Roc if I persuade the kids to try and put it all together!! Probably not what you had in mind but the closest I can probably get!!
@ Pious - what harm could a bit of Lego do?? I’m thinking it should be easy to change the configurations if you wanted…. Probably not too practical for gaming - but very fun!!
@gobert - the sergeant is the old metal model, I figured he had to be included somewhere. I do like the old school stuff when I can get my hands on it!! Although some continues to elude me!!

Evening, no or limited painting the past few nights, I think I have picked the brush up for 10min, got a little colour on one model and then that was it - better than nothing I suppose. Looking at poor photo of the deathwatch the grey highlight is very subtle - maybe too subtle - so I might need to go over it again - I’ll wait until there are a few more colours before passing judgement (and maybe try for a better photo as well!)

On the plus side I had fun on Sunday afternoon, taking down three trees in the back garden with a chainsaw. What’s even better is that I managed to make them fall away from the house so that’ was a bonus, now I just need to tidy my mess up - so limited painting during the week if I need to do that as well!!

In my lunch breaks I have managed to undercoat 15 other marines so plenty to choose from next when I’m done with the latest batch!

@syro - kids are great but nobody gives you a working remote for them - the off button just never seems to work!
@sarp - ha ha - I’m glad I could corrupt you!! Life seems to be improving gradually all the time - and who needs sleep any way….?
