Thanks graven!

@Clensing Fire: Kinda looks like that doesn't he. Actually he's wearing my optivisor (magnifier).

Finally finished the grot bomm launchas! You'll note that I didn't paint the eyes which is unusual for me. Just ran out of creative gas and rather than forcing it through now I just figured I'd let it go until the muse strikes me at some later date. I hope you like them!

On a side note: I'm really loving my new Quidisi brushes... those clean little triangular embellishments are so easy with them.

LOVE the algae reference WW, fantastic! My only disappointment as that as Legacy units, I'm at the mercy of my opponent to be able to field them. That being said I understand why and already plan a slight modification of their existing rules (downward) to make them a little more sensible.

Next Projects:

I'm doing everything I can to try and make reasonable progress on my model back-log. That means sending some models off to Nerdfest for painting, selling models I know I'll never use (just sold an army of very old, unpainted orks) and working like mad to get as many things painted as I can. This (as you guys have seen) has been a combination of both terrain that's been lying around for years and regular models. The two groups up for painting next are models I've had for a long time. A group of 10 of the original wraith-guard which are getting a quick-and-dirty repaint so I can field my 2000 point old-hammer eldar army, and a group of 7 servitors, which will allow me to field a full 3 units of 4 (when added to the 5 I have already). Eventually, the wraithguard will get stripped and re-painted when I finally get to work on my Iyanden wraith army... but for now they'll let me field an eldar army for giggles without looking too horrid... hopefully.

Why lots of servitors? Super cheap objective or table quarter sitters as well as deep-strike denyers & can fill elite FO slots cheaply.

Wraithguard, spray-can blend. Will look much better with sepia lining, blackish guns and a colorful loin cloth. As I said... quick-and-dirty temporary paint job.

Fantastic work on the grotbombs! I do miss the odd, ragtag nature of some of the legacy ork kit. A little bit of chipping on the bikes might be good. The bombs, obviously, need to be brand new and shiny, but the bikes are likely to have seen repeated action

Oh I loved the old wraithguard models. Can't wait to see what you do with them, even if it is a quick paint job.

That's an excellent idea entrans. They do have rust in the metal bits, but chipping on the fenders especially would be a good add. Consider it done!

Just a couple of shots from my shellacking by Carl last night in the campaign re-boot.

"Wait!" you say. "Isn't Carl at school in Richmond, VA while you're at home in Wisconsin?!"

"Yes!" I say. "However Carl joined a Zoom meeting with a view of the table, and also opened a video call on our phones. So we could play like normal, I just acted as his hands for the game (moving models, rolling dice, etc.). It worked very well and we both had a great time. I loved hanging out with my son for a couple of hours too. It was remarkably seamless and something we'll be doing often.

Carl says "Hi!".

I can set up a more video-friendly table in the future... big LOS-blocking terrain on the far side, away from the computer so he can see most of the table from the wide view. I could also get a better camera hooked up to the lap top (which wouldn't take much frankly... and would probably give me better options for positioning as well).

That's guys, appreciate it. Yeah, it was a fun daddy moment... The brothers are playing on Wed morning. We'll see how that goes.

Busy week.

Made painting progress on my eldar wraithguard, AdMech servitors and "hell drake" (the awesome giant bat Cam sculpted for me). Re-based my old grim-reaper from the Halloween army so he can be used as a Dark Apostle with he acolytes. Why? Because I discovered that I can field all but two of my EC 30k models (I will never play that game) into a perfectly legal 2000 point 40k chaos army! Built 3 slightly different ork meks. Spent hours going through old stuff and set aside an 1800+ point oldhammer SM army for sale, as well as all of my space wolf stuff and a few odds and ends. Found Things 2's lost SOB army (if you have any old sob stuff you want to get rid of reasonably cheap, let me know). Finished a partially built retributor/rhino for him and what will be an EC predator for me. OH, and I got that game in with Thing 1.

What kills me is even after getting rid of all of this stuff, it's just a drop in the bucket. I have so much stuff. *sigh*

TOO much stuff.

I have learned, from starting to be a Twitch streamer, there are very nice camera/phone/tablet arms designed for 'shoot from above' camera angles. One of these might be very useful, as you could clamp it to their 'long edge' side of the board, and angle down from where they would normally 'see' from (looking down at the board at an angle, or entirely from above).

Hope this helps!

Nice virtual game! One of the upsides of the pandemic is that we are a lot more used to gather and do things virtually these days. The tech has been there for a while, but there wasn’t the need as much. But why not play games with far off family and friends?

I hear you about endless piles of minis. I’m packing up all mine, and there is no end. Some will probably never hit the table again, but I can’t bring myself to thin things out.

We cleaned up the basement this weekend and I can’t believe how much I’ve collected since 90s. I’ve never sold any of my stuff but am giving it a good think lately. But enough of that you’ve done a great job with all of your armies and these new WIPs have me excited to see how they will turn out.

Such a lot of progress. I culled a lot of stuff over the years, especially as I have now got my army plan to focus my efforts.

I would just like to know why the "second hand" miniature trade has almost ceased and now you are paying an absolute premium for previously loved models. Or is that just an Australia symptom?

See My Crazy Army plan here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/521618.page#5517409

@graven: Thanks man. It's a cool army with interesting models. I'm glad I got them out too. I really don't have anything good for HQ choices aside from the Dark Apostle. Maybe I can dress up that Captain a bit... give him a jump pack or something to make him more useful.

@Briancj: Very helpful, PM incoming.

@Nev: It was a lot easier and more natural than I thought. Maybe you're right... just getting used to it. The decision to get rid of stuff IS hard... but it's healing it its own way.

@Yorkright: I be your collection is a lot like mine. Little bit of everything over the years. Unfortunately I haven't made any progress on the WIP models as I've been totally preoccupied with going through my old stuff. Should have some things done by the end of the week though.

@Archer: Interesting point. As a result of my organizing I just had a long conversation with my local FLGS owner (who is a friend) about the second-hand market. Seeing things from his perspective as a shop owner is really interesting. Because GW keeps raising their prices every year, and because 40k is huge... the prices of used and old items just keep going up because you can use them instead of the newer, more expensive items. Means he never gets stuck with stock he has to discount deeply just to get rid of.

Funny bit. Sent a bunch of ork stuff (mostly) to Nerdfest for painting, including a batch of storm boys that I've had forever. He got them built, only to discover that there were no heads or arms! *sigh* I had the heads but not enough arms (somehow) and ordered what I needed off e-bay. When they come in I'll send them (plus a zillion gretchin & a few other things). Luckily, he has enough models *with* arms and heads to keep him busy for a while!

Been doing a LOT of frantic building to get another batch of stuff to send off to Nerdfest for painting. 30 grots, ork supa kannon, admech guns for my dune crawlers and oh yes... some secutarii hoplites to help my army with a bit of assault goodness! Now to build the two termites I bought for them and hope my ork bits (missing arms for my storm boyz) show up soon.

Gits those Hoplites look so good!! It's crazy, Nerdfest just did a converted Termite for me (using the Tectonic Fragdrill kit) . I don't have good models for Hoplites though, so was thinking of putting Peltasts in mine. Is this for 40k or 30k in your case (or both!)?

Very much looking forward to seeing the results

Thanks RiTides. I was thinking about the Peltasts for the Termites, but the last thing I need is more shooting in this army. Been trying to level things out a bit with my unit choice. Do you have a pic of the converted Termite Nerdy did for you? I'm not playing 30k until they dump 7th Ed rules, however... most of what I bought for my 30k EC is legal in 40k, so I'm golden.

Can't be helped I guess. I've gotten a lot of FW in small batches over the years. Can't afford it in large batches! I agree about the skitarii kit... pure gold.

Thanks graven. I have him, just need to figure out what to play him as. Don't have the extra $ to pay Nerdy to paint models that'll never see the light of day.

I think I've done all that I want to do on the wraithguard. They're just going to be running with a bunch of poorly painted models from the early days of 40k. Worth the experiment though as I kicked around ideas for painting my full Iyanden force. At this point I'm just waiting for some special basing material I ordered to come in.
