The first #FalloutFriday has arrived and hopefully players and painters are getting ready to reveal their efforts with the Undiscovered Vault on social media with the #FalloutFriday.
We've also added the next scenario for December's #FalloutFriday, the Vestiges Resurgent, featuring the arrival of the Enclave to the game.

We've also got the updated PDFs with a new errata (and one card change), updated points for all the models up to an including wave 4 (yes, that includes Mirelurks and Enclave troops).

For new product releases, the Enclave are now out of pre-order and shipping. This includes the new card pack for the wave, as well as the long awaited wave 1 fundamentals deck that gives you the stat, AI and item cards to cover all the releases from wave 1 that used to have cards packed in. We've also put the Glowing Ghouls and Stealthboy Coursers into general release to allow everyone the opportunity to field these cool clear resin figures (as lets face it, we won't be at shows any time soon) so if you missed your chance to get them, you no longer need to worry.

Also releasing is the print and play version of Into the Wasteland, the solo module that lets you build and explore a living, breathing wasteland (then shoot it to bits if you are that way inclined). We look forward to hearing how folks get on with the expansion and hopefully in the future we will be able to finish our plans to release a physical copy.

So, quite a busy month. Looking forward to checking out everyone's #FalloutFriday over the coming week when I will pick a few worthy winners of some store credit as recognition of their efforts.

Into the Wasteland is pretty awesome but boy are there a lot of new things to keep track of. Despite all of Jon's comments about them I think he likes cards. And Tokens. And lots of things on the table.

Honestly when this getting put into the app may be what gets me to rebuy things for the app.

I caught it at 3am last night, stayed up late, and read through it. Worth the money if you enjoy the game. While it['s intended to be used solo/co-op I think it would easly work in a vs campaign but you'd have to not use most of the provided objective cards.

I will say, between this release and the card packs for elder scrolls, Modiphus really doesn't like telling people what they're getting and I don't understand that. There's lots of new monsters in here that weren't advertised, though they line up with a card list that was published weeks ago so I guess there's that, but the only way we found out what's in the ES Card Pack is people buying it and posting the list. I don't get why it's hard to say x creature cards, x spell cards and so on on the product page.

With this you're getting:

  • 24 page PDF with a 8 page kind of choose your own adventure campaign at the end.

  • Rules for Legendary Creatures (deathclaw, mirelurk queen, rad scorpion, Swan, mongral) that are like Frank from the enclave. Multiple cards that you swap between as you damage or start at for a weaker version .

  • 16 creature cards (including the Legendary stuff). Bloatfly, ragstag, brahman, Yao Guai (surprised about this one), Bloodbug. The equipment, mod and AI cards for them.

  • 8 battlefild cards, 12 Environment cards, 20 purpose cards for a total of 10 objectives.

  • Anyway enough of that. Into the wasteland, from a quick read through, is a somewhat laborious set up process as there's lots of card decks and you need to use a lot of tokens. The basic flow is:

    1) Draw a Battlefiled (map size) card. These are different shapes and the largest is 2'x3' so you never get to the full 3'x3' that is default. There's also one that's 4' x 1'. Smaller maps are more densely populated so more chances of other factions/figures being present.
    2) Draw and Environment. This gives suggestions for terrain, creatures and then lists what type of items are more common, less common and so on. Pretty straight forward but they're a bit inconsistent. Some cards have you roll die to see whos there (and I believe the icons for these are wrong) some just say one or the other but not both.
    3) Set up your playing area
    4) Build a local population deck from a list of new and old wildlife as well as what the environment card states (or your own if you want).
    5) each 1x1 part of the map gets a certain number of inhabitants tokens. Once those are places half of each count gets drawn from the deck in step 4 and places on the map. The other half are unknown and are represented as tokens that randomly move (based off of scatter). Once you, or they, meet certain conditions like LOS you see if the token is a figure by rolling. If so roll a die to see how many things are at this encounter and draw from your deck.
    6) Then you draw objectives for the map (or make your own). Some of these are more like traditional scenarios other are just get all your units to the other side of the map.
    7) Make the loot deck based off of the environment (this is probably the thing that will take the most effort).
    8) Make your event and other decks

There's a new AI system called Natural Behavior. Basically a way to try and simulate NPC behavior when not engaged with the player. I'll need to play it to really comment on this but I like the concept. But it's a lot of pages.

I'm going to set up a game tonight or tomorrow for this. From reading it it seams to be just what I was wanting.

Also there are lots of missing page numbers in the book. Only a few are set when there's a reference to go look at something. The farther you get into the PDF the more common it is. Like the person that was supposed to do this only did it for the first 2 pages and called it good. And there are two Occupited Countryside cards that have apparent icon typos as they list you rolling one Special Effect die for outcome but don't list what you need to roll for each icon but instead more blue dice icons.

Please do feed back the typos and missing page numbers.

It seems the prof reading protectron failed and this isn’t the expected final version of the rulebook.

Good news is, being digital we can get the updated version out to everyone who bought it easily enough.

Not ideal and I’m not going to make excuses for that.

I’d love to hear about your play experience too (and anyone else). This is quite a tricky one to playtest, we of course ran games in house but it’s such a multifaceted product it’s hard to get the hours in needed.

Cards... man they used to be such innocent little things. Now they are my bane I’m not the designer for WW, tbh this product was made on a dev cycle where I was off being head of creative rather than Wargames so it wasn’t “under my watch” so to speak, but I’m glad we have created something that starts to answer the call to enhance the light RPG side of the game (can that many decks be called light?)

We are looking at ways of providing some of the card content in other formats in the future as we move into the next phase of the game’s dev cycle. We’ll have more on that next year all being well (and with all 2020 has thrown our way, I’m promising nothing!)

While I'm still reading through my copy of Into the Wasteland, I do have some early feedback.

Could we get a revised version of the cards in a format similar to the free cards on the downloads page? The download cards are formatted so that double-sided printing is easy, with a page of appropriate card backs already laid out to match the card fronts. It'd be nice if the cards in this supplement were as conveniently set up.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write that up Monkeysloth, really useful.

One question (this one affects me the most as I'm building up miniatures and terrain for the campaign) - for item 2 (draw an environment) do you get much option over what type of format of terrain or specific terrain types you should use? i.e. does it say whether to use a ruined town, swamps etc or just let you use whatever you like?

I'm guessing I will need a lot of random 'NPCs' for this? So wandering wildlife miniatures, raiders and settlers, even 'random' Brotherhood of Steel patrol and things like that?

We need to tweak the docs as it turns out we didn't have the "final" final file afterall (our bad...) so I'll see if I can get a condensed card sheet too.

Yes, suggestions for terrain are included on the Environment cards. They're pretty top level generic for the most part but I think there's one Red Rocket station card which is the most specific (don't have the PDF here atm). Outside of that it's just giving you ideas to pull from whatever terrain you have. But it's all about the narrative you want to have so even if you pull swamp you could put some structure there that would be unexpected for the fun of it.

I'm guessing I will need a lot of random 'NPCs' for this? So wandering wildlife miniatures, raiders and settlers, even 'random' Brotherhood of Steel patrol and things like that?

It's clearly a game mode that wants to get people to buy out into other factions to get the most out of, but its also a game mode that if you like those figures will always find a use and not just sit on a shelf even if squatted in Battlemode. That being said not everyone has a large collection of minis and the rules state you can customize the Inhabitant deck as much as you like regardless of what's on the card. Say you have just the starter and a bunch of raiders and draw a BoS card (this happened to me). You can use the one included in the starter and say he's running a raider group and broke away. You're welcome to create whatever narrative you want for your session.

Point balance for the NPCs is pretty much nonexistent so you'll have to either attempt to set up your Inhabitant deck with what you think you can take (remember that you never quite know how many NPCs spawn at some encounters) but I think it really will only matter with the clear the map objectives where you have to kill everything. But from building a deck and randomly drawing some cards you can get very different swings in challenge. I think part of the challenge in this game mode will be classic D&D dungeon crawl attrition. Lots of small encounters with occasional hard one but can you make it to the end with the resources you have?

I didn't get to play as much as I really wanted to over the weekend. Got something set up (I just used a smaller 3x1 map for simplicities sake) and when through a few rounds but had some friends who want to hang out online that I haven't seen in a bit due to the pandemic. I will say that I really wish FWW had a stealth/sneak rule like ES:CtA, I think the only thing that exists is a perk in the RPG that limits discovery to one range band as sometimes you don't want to fight the 3 raiders that just spawned. I still have the board set up and will try to get a few more rounds in tonight.

Also if the gathering restrictions are lifted by the end of the month I think I'm going to get some people over for a 3-4 person co-op play through of Into the Wastelands. Well see though.

Any eta on a corrected version? I finished reading the rules manual and I'm interested in trying things out in play, but without cards ready to print, I'm missing half of the "print and play" aspect of things.

The rules themselves look pretty good. I don't have much to add to the above, except that I see some parallel-evolution hints of how Nordic Weasel and Two Hour Wargames do their solo scenarios. As typical for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, if you're willing to persevere through the cards, tokens, and some complexity, there's a really solid ruleset in there.

Errors have been identified and passed to layout.

The cards can be printed as is by combining pages, but I've requested that graphics do more cards to a page to make printing easier.

The designer assigned in on the other side of the planet, so will be waking up shortly and should be online to discuss with me soon.

So I picked up some of these card sleeve pages that work great for FWW.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CS104FE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I found that things go much quicker with Into The Wastelands if you have units already set up in these sleeves (equipment and other cards slotted) with the AI card used for the large card slot so the unit card can be in the draw deck. The downside is these sleeves are roughly $2 each and you cannot really use the backside easily if both models are out at the same time. However I think it's worth it if you don't want to use the app (which doesn't support this mode yet anyway).

I'm contemplating moving all the units into these sleeves with their AI cards and default loadouts.

In game news someone, probably John or Chris, did a write up on the Survey for a few months ago. https://www.modiphius.net/blogs/news/eyes-on-the-wasteland

Not a lot of surprising stuff in what was shared with us. But the faction break down is always intresting even with a game where half of the modes they really don't matter:

Those playing factions are running with the Survivors 57% of the time, 45% joined the Brotherhood, 33% the Super Mutants, 24% the Raiders, 8% the Institute, 10% Creatures and 14% Robots (remember you could vote for several)

The factions with the demand for new stuff is Survivors, Robots and Creatures. I'm hoping that more Ghouls (including non-farels made it high on the list). This wasn't new factions. Just what existing factions people wanted new stuff for.

But there were some hints to future plans but sadly none of them were in relation to my wanted figure which was young Herbert Daring Dashwood and Argyle.

    1) There will be a Blackfriday sale on factions.
    2) "We’re going to have some updates on factions next summer and other plans a foot should support those of you with narrative groups of survivors brought together by circumstance just trying to get through another day."
    3) This was annouced in a Modiphia issue earlier this week but Modiphius is having their own mini virtual Con early December called ModCon (I expect everyone to be dressed up from as part of the 60's mod scene with Chris sporting a wig) where I suspect we'll see things that have been hinted at light the large SLT figure for printing for FWW and the Dragon for Elder Scrolls.

    Modcon Link https://www.modiphius.net/pages/modcon

Also oddly enough it looks like all the RPG archtypes were removed from the point cost for the main game.

Jon mentioned that they would be put back. Those point costs are kind of important to my campaign system although I still have the previous version with the archetypes included.

Cool. I assume the point values are for just the archetype cards and not any of the perks that are chosen via character creation? I'm going to use the fan make character point system for Into the Wasteland and the average point value for Archtypes appears to be around 44-45 and I'll need some value for some concept of balance for it.

Right, it's the cost of the archetype cards exactly as presented in the book, without factoring in the mandatory changes that would have to be made if it was used as the basis for an RPG character.

Hey folks, just to advise we have updated the points doc to return those missing Archetype costs as well as adding the November errata and points for the Fallout Wasteland Warfare RPG.

The revised Into the Wasteland should be along in the next few days for those that purchased it.

Hopefully we will reveal the Black Friday deals shortly and there are some savings for Wasteland Warfare players.

Also, if you are about on the 4th-6th December we will be hosting our first virtual convention, ModCon where I will be revealing some first looks at the start of the New Vegas miniatures range as we head towards the 2021 release and something big for Elder Scrolls.

...and you will know me by the trail of my lead...

Morning folks, just to let people know we are rolling out the revised and fixed version of Into the Wasteland today, including updated book where we (hopefully) caught all the snags and a card set that has been errata'd and combined into pages for easier print setup.

As ever, if you spotted anything we didn't, please do reach out so we can fix it in any future errata/updates.

    Enjoy your adventuring.

Also, if you are about on Sunday night, our three day online ModCon will be wrapping up (it starts today with a weekend of game demos, seminars and reveals).

Sam, Chris and I will be showcasing some of the upcoming products from across the lines as well as updating where things are with legacy projects.

There will be some reveals and teases for Fallout and Elder Scrolls, so join us from 19:00 UK time to see the show.

I'll also be doing a paint hangout with Duncan Rhodes and Adam Huenecke so if you want to drop by and see an exclusive paint tutorial from Duncan of one of the New Vegas minis, plus get to ask us questions then please do. That kicks off at 22:00 (yes I should be in bed at that point... so expect sleepy Jon).

Details and links can be found here.

Heh, I thought you had noticed it. Glad you did.

I was going to ask "FWW the card game has done quite well. When is the miniature game getting released?" but I didn't think many would get the joke.

Ah good, now the NCR is here I can sit up and pay proper attention to this game.

I wonder if we'll see a NCR vs Caeser's Legion starter set of some kind?

From the original announcement weeks ago they're going more of a Elder Scrolls release format this time around. 2 separate starter boxes and a rules box.

I'm sure they will. The question is when as there's an obscene amount of content for them to sort through and release and we know they've got FO1 and FO3 stuff in the piepline (as we've seen sculpts) and there's more to come for FO4.

That's why the recent survey they did was important is to help them figure out how to prioritize things. We know New Vegas being the next game for releases is due to the first survey they did years ago.

Morning folks, couple of bits of news today.

The T45 box set is now up for sale https://www.modiphius.net/collections/fallout-wasteland-warfare/products/fallout-wasteland-warfare-unaligned-t-45-power-armour
This rounds out the last of the Fallout 4 sets of Power Armour (for now...) and means you can field anything from T45-X01 (plus raider Power armour and Enclave suits for you old guard).

Its also #FalloutFriday so I'll be checking out everyone's efforts online and picking a few out for some store credit that catch my eye.
Next months scenario is also up for download, so you can get planning for your January showing.

There is also a sale on Drivethru RPG for some of our STLs for Fallout and the Elder Scrolls modular fort kit, so worth taking a look at if that's your jam.
