Well, with the price drop of Terminators in the new Chaos dex, it got me thinking back to one of the army possibilities I once considered with the old chaos codex, but never followed through on - the Terminator Wing, be it regular, dustwing, plaguewing, bloodwing, or my personal favourite, lustwing. In all cases, it's a terminator heavy chaos list.

I was thinking along the lines of taking 8-man squads of Terminators, all with combi weapons, a Slaaneshii icon and a chain-fist or two to scare of tanks. However, I don't have any experience with playing the new terminators, so I don't know how viable they still are. Ideally, the squads would port in, annihilate a squad with plasma fire, and then roam around chopping things. This does leave plenty of problems of course. Tanks would be an issue if i can't get close, general mobility issues too. Big nasty things with an initiative > 6 would also shop up those nice, pricey terminators very easily too.

So, esteemed dakkaites, I ask you. Is it possible to make a successful Chaos Terminator-Wing list? And if it is, how would you do it?

Do a search - we chatted about this precise topic a week or two ago.

The original concept is dead. Daemons aren't worth the summoning, and there aren't any cult terminators (the "marked" terminators aren't nearly as useful - no sonic weapons for massed firepower, no terminator retinues for your HQ (who'll therefore show up alone), a single heavy weapon. And since Daemons aren't troops, you'll have to have some CSMs on the table, which rather blows the theme.

What he said!

Sadly, the Traitor Legions have all but disappeared back into the Eye with the release of this Codex.

A World Eaters force might be viable, I'd imagine...

I think you could still field a playable army, given the lessened restrictions and lower prices on terminators.

It's definitely not going to be as effective, and it really sucks that people can't use their converted sonic weapon termies, but it's fieldable.

Buggery. I did search, honest. I'll do a better job of it, and have a read up on what was said. Thanks for the comments, shame that this archaeotype, though not dead, is on life support.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

You can always take six man squads of noise marines with sonic blasters and plunk away at infantry squads.
