Thanks Gits! Can't take original credit as this has been done before though I've added my own BA flair to it

Viterbi wrote:Wow, those prints look so cool. Wasn't sure after seeing only the 3d model of the base decoration, that it will work, but seeing them painted on the bases those are glorious!

Thanks Viterbi! Yeah the 3d viewport snapshot doesn't really sell the final look as well but once they're painted and on the model they make it seem more "complete" now. I need to do my whole army with them!

Quick update as I ended up printing out a bunch of 40mm name plates and add them to my old space hulk models and a few HQs:

Here's a quick shot of some of my HQs in the display case with the plates:

An update on something different. I plan on doing an army showcase video soon...waiting on the warhound to be done before getting everything out and recording a video. I never liked the videos where the person talking behind the camera is pointing and waving their hands around and recall seeing a showcase video on YouTube where they used the disney magic wand with the pointing mickey mouse hand which I thought was hilarious and quite useful. Since I just got my own 3d printer, I set out to make my own "pointing stick" to use when I do my actual video - but appropriately themed...there won't be any mickey mouse hands for me!

I ended up taking a pointing power fist model on thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4073902) and mirroring the fist in Blender, scaling it up and then modifying the mesh so that the end joint was recessed to fit a wooden dowel 9.5mm in diameter.

Wanting to add some extra flourish to my pointing power fist, I took the pommel of another fancy power sword model (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3652865) and made the same type of end cap to fit on the other end of my stick:

Into the printing software it went for slicing and 5.5 hours later after hitting print I had my parts! Was so excited with the actual results that I totally forgot to take pictures of the actual unpainted model but here is the end result after painting and decal work:

That's awesome! I first thought you made that for your gaming aid but I guess it'll work for video too hehehe!

Thanks both. In case anyone is interested in printing, I've put up the STL 3d files here on thingiverse to download: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4799772

Thanks IGtR! Love playing around with the printer so far and definitely adds more to the whole mini hobby.

Another week has gone by and I've been totally side tracked from the Warhound titan! Instead I've been fiddling around with Blender and doing more 3D prints - love tinkering with the thing and am amazed with each round of prints how much detail it's able to capture.

Been getting some practice with the 3d software by making some of my own Horus Heresy era Blood Angel shoulder pads. Nothing good is available online from what I've seen and though I do have some FW versions, I don't particularly like them too much. I ended up take a picture of the HH BA icon from the FW transfer sheet and then bringing that into Blender to make my own 3d model. Once done, I transformed it onto blank shoulder pads I got from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3875032

Here's how things looked in Blender:

Printed plate full of Mk2 pads (and one nameplate that I had misspelt from a previous session):

One pad with a quick hit of black primer:

The layer lines do appear in these close up photos but to the naked eye they're not noticeable at all!

Also did the rest of my captains and elites with name plates. Here's a shot of the dreadnought army:

That pointer is both amazing and hilarious! You get a lot of use out of the printer, shoulder pads look great.

It's been a few weeks but I've finally shifted focus back to the warhound. Had a good paint session over the weekend that saw the completion of all the interior details and shading, followed by a gloss clear coat and then decals. Once the decals have fully set, will start working on the weathering and battle damage before sealing it all in a matte varnish and calling it done.

Snapped these two more WIP shots of the progress so far:

Weapon arms were stolen from my Lucius Warhound I finished a few years back that had the 4 various weapon options - 2 of them will be repurposed for the Mars once everything is finished.

When I think of titan battle damage... I think of a huge, smoking hole through the body or a leg blown off...

Ha not quite...my battle damage will be more of traitor guardsmen shooting the warhound with lasguns...superficial scorch marks only

Made a final push to finish off the model tonight which was just the weathering and final coat of varnish. All done and crammed into my display case which is filled to the brim now...going to have to get another case if I'm going to paint up anymore titans or knights!

Will try and get some final photos of the Mars Warhound this weekend.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Out of curiosity is the Plasma arm mars or lucious pattern? The mega bolter and destructor are the older lucious but the flamer looks to be a newer mars.

How'd the BA get a baby carrier?

Yup, good eye. The flamer is the only weapon that's a mars pattern...bought that by accident when I got the 4 weapons for the Lucious before. Stole the mega bolter for the mars as well and was hoping no one would notice

Thanks Gits...the BAs based a GK over the head and jacked it from them!

Mostly, on my phone.

A staggering work of art. Highlights for me - if I had to pick - are the freehand sanguinus and the servitor detailing. Beautiful work.

Thanks inmygravenimage! Hate to let you down but I do have to admit that the logo and sanguinus are both decals from the FW BA decal sheet

Viterbi wrote:Wow, the interior is simply stunning, marvelous detail work! And love the group shot which conveys the scale perfectly with all the little Dreadnoughts.

Thanks Viterbi! The interior details took forever to paint with all the small buttons and screens but was worth it - if the sculptor put in the effort to model it then I figure it would only be fair that I put in the effort to paint it. Did the same for all the previous titans.

Funny you should mentioned the dreads...I showed some others the pic and most thought the pic were a pic of AT models until they saw the little baby dreadnoughts

That is lovely. The weathering on the bullet marks and the irregular nature of the coloration on the gold and steel are my standouts. Though the whole thing is startlingly well done.

Another update here which includes the last 4 Masters of the Chapter models. I had painted up the original 4 that (in pewter) and can only wish GW made these ones in pewter as well but unfortunately they only came in finecast. :( These guys took a long time to clean up and fill of the various bubbles and in the end I think I still missed quite a few but hopefully they're not too obvious.

Too bad about that last character batch not being pewter. But they look amazing (only the Master of Rites' head is weirdly sculpted). Amazing work you put into all the details and great group shot at the end.

Agreed, they look stonking. I think the Master of Relics is the highlight, for me.
