Great work on the Juggers, one of those classic designs that needed very little design work to bring them bang up to date.

inmygravenimage wrote:They looks ace but I'm with youwashock - I would colour up the icons. Red, or dark copper to keep the solid metal look. It'll really pop.

Definitely will do something with the icons, but leaning away from red. I’m going to get further on before tackling those. Thanks

JoshInJapan wrote:Yeah, some spot color is called for here. Your steel looks great, but it's kind of hard to make out a lot of the details on the model.

I’m going almost for that scene in the old movie Excalibur where all the knights are charging with their glistening armor and blinding their opponents. Or like when Gandalf is charging down the hill at Helm with all the riders and he creates the blinding light. Little details, to busy being slaughtered to worry about the opponents armor .

Maharg wrote:You're certainly putting my progress to shame Theo, an impressive start to the year! Agree with you and others that a little splash of colour would help the juggers. As another option, some blood splatters could add a bit of colour if you can't be bothered with the more fiddly job of painting the runes

Oh don’t worry, I get a lot done in spurts, but basically haven’t even walked downstairs to my painting corner in days. Blood will probably happen, but will be added to the army as a whole when I get all these done.

mcmattila wrote:Lovely work on the Khorne guys, the pale skin is wonderful. It's like they're so Khorne that they've given all their blood to the Blood God already!

As others have said, the bigger models do call for some additional color. I'd probably go for some metallic, and leave red out all together from the models. Speaking of which, the Slaughterpriest's red pouch is hogging too much attention, I feel. Maybe paint it in a more neutral color? Or add it somewhere else as well.

I hadn’t noticed the pouch, but now that you mention it, it really does show. Will work on touching it up later, maybe the same ratskin flesh as the cloth of his tabard and the Knights skirts. After thinking about it I think red will only feature in eyes and the bases, so I’ll need to touch up his scars as well.

Yorkright wrote: Those juggernauts are Ace Theo! Too bad you don’t game would love to throw down against your armies.

I’d love to get a game in sometime, just work, family and life get in the way. Thanks

Snrub wrote:Really liking the limited palette on those khorne guys. It works so well for them!

Yeah, I think the red is an all or nothing deal. I couldn’t pull it off with my old Blood Angels, and didn’t really like it that much with the Khorne guys I’ve done before. Probably the main reason I never built a Khorne army to begin with.

ListenToMeWarriors wrote:Great work on the Juggers, one of those classic designs that needed very little design work to bring them bang up to date.

Definitely loved the plastic versions they have come out with. I bought a box of the demon juggernaut riders and converted them ages ago for iron warriors. It’s believeable robotic parts to me at least.
Spoiler:

All three pieces next to the iron warrior hero were made with the juggernaut body as the core. Came up with these after seeing the Contemptor dreadnought when they first came out.

Well I haven’t felt the desire to paint for a few days combined with a sinus infection and weird weather here my sleep has been way off the mark. Finally the antibiotics have kicked in and starting on the mend. First guy I wanted to tackle is the glaive wielding looney.

His shoulder has come out awesome in my opinion.

Still needs basing to be done, but I’m really happy at how he looks.

Also started on the model that kept me from AoS in the first place. The Khorgorath.

The question is do I make his skin like the blood brothers skin? Or do I do it and all the flesh hounds in more of the ratskin flesh like the tabard on the slaughterpriest? The white here actually makes me just want to clean up my messy bone work and shading and go albino with him

Albino could work nicely with the stark look you have going with the rest of the group. Especially once the blood splatter hits.
And that is one awesome shoulder.

Definitely try the albino skin he is a big model and should stand out from the rest. The blood spatter should unify the unit and yes that is a great looking shoulder.

Thanks YWS, the stark color is really drawing me in for the beast. I think it’s my best shoulder EVER

Yep, going albino. Thanks Yorkright.

So going albino in the big beast.

This is the base skin color with a Nuln oil wash in the creases. Just ruined my eyes and a cheap Chinese brush (that’s what they are for) putting a layer on top, forgot to snap a shot before heading upstairs. Maybe tomorrow.
And another Blood Warrior done.

Base is almost completed since I took that photo.

So I’ve been sidelined with what I thought was a sinus infection and the start of a respiratory infection, but it’s looking more and more like the Flu. Hopefully seeing the doctor in the morning for confirmation either way.

Edit: forgot I took the pic on my phone.

Mostly, on my phone.

Love the albino skin; I would consider a crimson wash into the mark of Khorne, like it's been carved into the flesh and is raw muscle.

I painted a Khorgorath(sp?) once, I think it really benefits from the lighter skin tone. He is looking great thus far. I see you had an accident with one of those extra delicate ear rings of his, I just cut them off before even starting work on it.

Get well soon Theo, proper flu is a horrible thing.

Thank you everyone!

Sorry no individual posts, I spent 20 minutes typing one up on my iPad just for our WiFi to go down moments before I posted and erase it all .

So quick batch answer to the messages.

I’m feeling better now, not 100%, but I can basically focus now. I’ve been back to work on Thursday and Friday but off this weekend to regain some strength. Bright lights were really bothering me so not much time online as backlit screens were bothersome. I’ll catch up soon enough with all your amazing blogs in short order.

After a couple Dr. Visits it turns out no flu, but concurrent viral and bacterial infections in my sinuses, ears and it was trying to get into my lungs. The antibiotics were helping some, but then the other infection was able to take its place with a weakened immune system from the initial infection. We cut it off before getting to my lungs, I usually wind up with bronchitis or pneumonia every winter at least once, dodging it right now.

New insurance from work is great and is costing about a third of the old insurance and saving me money on my kids prescriptions. Great for helping pay down some more bills.

Got possibility of a mon-fri job at work, hoping to hear back this week on it. It’s a much less physical role, but more patient contact, so more chance of catching these cooties .

Needed something without a screen to read and had credit saved up at the LGS, so after dropping my youngest off at her winter formal Langston night I picked up a copy of Gaslands: Reloaded and a $6 of cars from Walmart. Graven and others have been running roughshod over the racetracks of the world and it’s time someone got behind the wheel to shut him down .

Going to use the silver car and the gyrocopter to make a Highway Patrol sponsored team to start with. I haven’t tried a gyrocopter yet, but flying around with loud sirens throwing hazards on people just seems wrong/right.

Also started on the bloodstoker for the AOS army.

Blocked in with some washes applied, long way to go still.

The Khorgie that’s going to have to be his nickname is not yet done, but I shaved off the tassels on either side of his head as the one got broken off multiple times. It’s just bad placement of a brittle part.

Really happy with how he is coming along. As I’ve said he is the single reason I detested AOS when it came out.

Once again, big thanks to all of you for the well wishes. Means a lot .

Eyes are tired of typing this again.

Thanks YWS, the new position would be nice, but I enjoy the physical work and a desk job has never been my goal. That said I’m not getting younger, so a less physical job is my target. The new Gaslands book is well worth it. More sponsors much better layout and just packed with cool stuff. That said, the rules haven’t changed, so the old book will do still and most of the new stuff is from the Time Extended free section on their website, so you could always use the old book if money is a factor.

inmygravenimage wrote:Really, really excited to see what mad wizardry you come up with for Gaslands!

I have some ideas, but looking at my workspace last night most of my crafting stuff has been put away , so I’ll need to do a full clean up of my area and get my scratchbuilding gear back out and put to use.

aku-chan wrote:The big beastie is coming along nicely.

Thanks Aku-Chan. Did more work on Khorgie, almost time to take him on a walkie.

Khorgie, closer to done. He will definitely stand out on the table now. Wanted to do something for the tentacle fingers, so incorporated the ratskin flesh there which features on other models as well.

The tentacles are still wet I need the photo

Also worked on the blood stoker

He was another model I really did not like the look of when released. I think the change in colors has helped me to appreciate the details on this guy.

Lastly I started on the banner bearer, not even done blocking in at this point.

You read my mind on bits, but then again I have these Dreamforge miniatures bits still, and they make some nice add ons.

The blood stoker just looked fat, and I hadn’t noticed the sword arm. Honestly I hadn’t noticed much on him except the sizes were so much larger than old WFB Khorne guys. That was the problem with the games transition in my opinion.

Viterbi wrote:Nice work on all the Khorne guys and excited to see, what you'll do with the cars for gaslands.

Gaslands go a bit of the throttle tonight, so you’ll see some direction below.

Quick bits-ing on some cars for Gaslands. I used a bunch of bits from my supply of Dreamforge eisenkern troops to give them weapons. The finer details and the 28mm heroic scale looked better to me than just GW parts, though the one got an extra Juggernaut horn for the front ram.

Forgot to take the silver one apart so I can prime them separate from the wheels . Oh well, plan B, prime it all. I don’t need wheels to turn or clear windows.

Busy next few days. Means quick updates when I can. Couple events at church and waiting for the secretary to have her baby (I will be painting her office while she’s out, but she’s planning on being right back to work, so will have to strike while the iron is hot). Chili cook-off on Sunday with the super bowl. Lots to do.

Now I need to source my templates for Gaslands and get actual dice, not the ones I jury rigged last year .

It's actually better to have the wheels not turn, means that they stay put after you've placed them with templates. Love the juggernaut ram, and the general builds. I quite often just fire car mesh over the windows rather than removing them.

Also, good work!

Cars look cool. The interceptor is just calling out to me and the Jugger ram on the other is inspired bitz use. If (when?) I get into Gaslands and start working on the cars I have been quietly stockpiling I will have to remember stuff like that.

Ive seen people using bases specifically to mount the cars to as well. Almost ordered some today. Might eventually do them and match them to a custom home board to play on. Need to get playing first .

No pics of the chili cook off. About 20 cooks all bring big pots and 150 or so people eat it and have a good time. Definitely need you to get into the game. I picked up a few more victims today.

I set it up, I don’t make chili as my wife and kids won’t eat it and I’m fine with canned stuff for convenience . Firepower is a good idea in this game. Firepower and speed.

Someday is gamer for “when the grandkids come over

Okay, so not much done in the past week hobby wise. Job wise I have a face to face on Monday for a much better position at my hospital which involves a desk . Talked with the corporate recruiter and he has sent my resume to some directors for consideration. All of this should have happened three years ago but the recruiter I had been dealing with wasn’t doing his part and has since left the company and now I’m getting nibbles. Also helps that I cornered the president of our facility and spoke with her.

Today started out as . Had requested today off to take youngest daughter to doctors appointment. Drove kids to school, but the car was acting funny and all sorts of lights on my console. Needed a tow, but needed a rental to take daughter. Dealt with tow company over phone, they wouldn’t pick up without me there, but I couldn’t be there because of doctor appointments . Got that resolved, got picked up for car rental. Car was too small for me so I brought it back, got larger car but another renter backed into my rental as I was filling out the paperwork . Delays, got daughter to doctor, everything fine there thank god. Car engine had been eaten by squirrels. I you not this is the second time this has happened to me. Last time it was like $1200 in repairs and two weeks as my old car was older and not very popular. Luckily This car is newer and parts are cheaper so only $500. Car I should back. Getting “live animal trap” this weekend and will modify it to be less kind .

Anyway on to the good stuff. Took a few minutes today to work on some cars of much less value.

Okay, this ones a gyroCOPcopter for my Highway Patrol. Not much done, but had to cover odd shaped door openings so it got blue painters tape and chicken mesh. Also a light bar/siren and some droppers on back as the only weapons it can have are dropped weapons.

My homage to Mr. Slam from Twisted Metal PlayStation game. Grabber arm on front, need to find a flamethrower. He is a one man show at 50cans by himself.

5 new cars for the showroom. Oil tanker truck, hot rod, food truck, dune buggy and hot rod/buggy crossover.

Found this monster truck, he’s called Crushstation . He will go with the food truck which has lobster and crab cakes listed on the side and is called the lobster cage. Or maybe the will be mortal enemies .

Lastly I picked up a set of Star Wars legion barricades. Two styles (4each) in the set. I’m going to use the one in front of the car as ramps as the design looks like an arrow pointing up and use the others as crash walls and barricades on the track.

My custom skid dice should arrive Saturday and my custom laser cut templates late next week. I still need to locate my self made skid dice and try and get some games in with my son.

Also have a bunch of blank dice coming from China , hopefully not containing any corona virus.

See you all n the Gaslands

Thanks Maharg, more Gaslands below. The ratskin flesh also brings just enough color I think to help out.

So another Gaslands vehicle.
Started with this guy and some Zinge Industries tires.

Came up with this. Unfortunately it’s illegal , because it’s a buggy (lightweight) it cannot have an exploding ram.

So I think I’ll have to cut the RPG off the fronts and attach spikes or connect them to the ram.
