Drop Trooper with Demo Charge
|
Hi all, I was up in the loft at my folks' the other day and under a pile of junk I found my old Necromunda and Outlanders boxed sets. A few of my mates have never played the game before and decided to bring it back with me to let them have a go. I noticed on the GW website though that they've brought out a new rulebook for the game. My question is, is the new version of the rules much different? Is it better/worse? And should I get it? Craig

I briefly skimmed the new book and found nothing different.
The old books are fine.

Ah thats cool, thanks. I wasn't sure if they'd changed the movement, shooting and close combat rules in the newer rulebook like the 40k rules have had since Necromunda came out. Craig

There's just a few minor differences, sustained fire works a bit differently using just d6's instead of sustained fire dice.

There aren't many differences between the 'new' rules and the original rulebook. Interestingly, if you buy the Necromunda: Underhive book and go over it clearly, you'll find it a near carbon copy of the original rulebook. It has everything, including all the original spelling and formatting errors!! That's how much effort GW put into it!!! The House Weapon Lists are probably the biggest change. Most people hate them, I personally love 'em, though we wrote our own versions that made a little more sense. Basically they're a way of making the gangs different at the beginning of the game, so not every gang is just Laspistols, Lasguns and Swords. BYE

I think they changed some of the Template rules as well - Necromunda was based on 2ed, and there were a hell of a lot of different templates around then...!

You can download the whole rulebook, and it's better than buying the new rulebook as it's actually been updated.
