Well that was weird.

I happen to have two copies of issue 50, the Chaos Cultists one, and decided to assemble all the lads tonight.

One of the sealed sets of bases was one base short. Rats, I thought, I'll dig one out from my junkyard later. Carried on and opened the second issue to assemble those in the meantime. That packet happened to have an extra base?

Win I guess?

Another exclusive coming up. A paint guide for Silver Templars, this includes paints (looks like 10, but can't tell if 12ml or full size pots), 5 Intercessors and lieutenant, transfers and flip-over paint guide. This is subscription only and automatically sent, unless cancelled. The cost £34.99. My rough calculation is (based on full size paints) around £50 worth of stuff.

Not everyone is on the same delivery pattern, but my letter came with issues 63-66

Saw that, and quite liked the idea of it. I did a quick review of the Silver Templars book and said at the time that I could see myself doing a few marines from the chapter, but there was no way I was going to freehand the chapter symbol.

Problem solved!

Got my letter yesterday. I'm on the fence with it - would be nice to know which lieutenant and paints you get.

Haven't touched my Primaris figures (except an extra dreadnought I got), so IF i get it, I know what I'll do them as. Especially so if they are full size paints.

had the delivery today with the letter, looks like full sized paints.

wondering on the colours, guess yellows will feature as we already have silvers.

seems the idea is "(moderately) high standard painting", so guessing will use a mix of whats already been sent then a bunch of paints you may not use much of but visually make a difference.

wondering if they would stick a couple of contrast ones in? you know, to introduce that? from the pots guessing not but one of them in a light colour looks larger than the others so who knows?

actually enjoying this series, have signed up for the Sigmar one as well.

doesn't help that I've been moving house so haven't been able to actually do anything since August

Just received an email from Hachette, relating to my 2000AD Ultimate Collection subscription.

That Email Wot I Received wrote: We wanted to let you know that we are currently in the process of moving to a new customer care centre. We are aware that a large number of customers have recently become frustrated with our customer service and we have decided to appoint a new customer care company. Hopefully this will bode well for the future of Conquest and the forthcoming AoS equivalent.

That could be good going forward, although for me Conquest is nearing the finish line and I can't do the AOS one due to having far too big a backlog.

Hopefully it's positive news and not them running off to India (or similar)

but they certainly needed to do something as when you regularly mess up getting the magazine to huge buyers like WH Smiths the poor individual customers have no chance

TBF Good customer service is not related to a country, it's who you hire, guidance provided and how much you invest in technology to aid it. Amazon of sgreat and its outsourced largely to India and the Phillipines. Capital One is the Phillipines and Malaysia. By contrast some of the worst service via phone I've had has come from many UK centres.

I'm not 100% certain Smiths is blameless in this, it looks like a lot of local newsagents like mine had no problems at all provided they ordered in time, I think it's more likely that Smiths needs to improve its subscription system...... Forbidden Planet likewise had very few stated problems.

The final covers are up on Forbidden Planer.

75 - 78 are confirmed as the Repulsor with the final two containing a magnavent walkway.

Nice that I don't have to change my advance order for the Repulsor issues.

Thanks for the heads up alphaecho. I've ordered some extra walkways. I'm not bothering with the Repulsor, I already have 3 I bought before, and will get a 4th with my subscription.

To be fair, I've had one issue with them and it was quickly dealt with. Landspeeder magazine came with a duplicate of one of the sprues instead of 3 different ones, and they sent me a spare one after a quick message to their Facebook page. I have seen a lot of people moaning on their posts though, so it is possible there's been a lot of problems. It's also entirely possible that entitled man-babies have failed to contact them politely with useful info. I'm not necessarily including everyone who's had terrible customer service from them in that, but that, combined with the ease of making your dissatisfaction visible on the internet could give the impression they've been worse than they have. (I did hear a lot of negative things about Hachette in regards other parts works prior to Conquest starting, but again...sometimes the makeup of the market might skew things a little)

Bit sad that they have taken so long to make a change to their customer service team if there's been as much warranted negative feedback as it seems, what with Conquest ending, but maybe it'll help for people taking up the AOS version. They certainly seem to have taken the feedback on board about the Premium Subscription's value, looking at what the new one has compared to a couple of pizza boxes and some cards.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page

this "man baby" has tried to contact them, took three weeks to get an address change done.

mostly because after five minutes their phone system hangs up on you, and when it does occasionally connect its the very worst VOIP line I've ever come across

no issues with the magazine, but whoever thought that call centre was acceptable wants shooting

How many spruces does the repulser have I thought it only had 3 yet its spread over four issues

3 sprues, a base flight stand and transfers (which I've not seen in conquest yet) so the 4th could be those extra bit

or normally 1 in 4 issues is paint so it wouldn't surprise me if one of the issues is a pot or two to paint it

Coming to Germany from 8 Jan 2020.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/12/27/warhammer-conquest-germany/

Enjoy!

I've found it to be well worth it, not having a Death Guard or Primaris army previously.

any idea when the extra paint set and book is shipping? or any idea what colours are in it yet?

I expect it’ll be in the January shipment - in three weeks or so.

Looks like a couple of yellows (Base and Layer?), three reds (Base and 2 Layers), two browns, a light grey and a beige (looks like a Layer) plus what looks like a medium or varnish.

I’m halfway through the painting process, following the instructions in order. Not looking forward to edge highlighting fifty-odd models in one go when I get to that issue ...

Primaris Marines I find a pleasure to edge highlight. Death Guard I absolutely hate though!

I joined an Escalation League in the states, i guess that's my next best option. I even looked into a mail forwarding service, but it just doesn't make sense financially.

doing my own scheme here, discovering that basically I have one army in blue (Napoleonic French), and thats a different blue so have a bit of blue paint left over..

saw that set looked like yellows and its partly why I fancied it.

as for edge highlighting, I feel your pain, I have a fair few marines (already had a starter set of them) with probably six or so edge highlighted, and that mostly via drybrushing

have to say the actual paint guides have been a heck of a lot better than I expected and have been cleverly done around the paint choices. Just a surprise they didn't do the Silver Templars (?) as the base marines, given the silvers are also used on the Death Guard for weapons and it would have been a bit different (with the chance for a mini codex as part of it), seems odd to have the focus on them while the models are all smurfs

wonder if the only reason its not come to the USA yet is they think they may struggle meeting the volumes required?

I've been waiting for Conquest to hit the states for a while now, i've heard all the arguments against it, and there are other options, but nothing quite like what GW is offering.
I was hoping to order this for my nephew whos just getting to that age, and i figured this would be a great way to introduce him to the full hobby.

I have no clue why this hasn't been released here, although GW does have a pretty piss poor record when it comes to this sort of stuff (see SoB).

What do spur from Issue 46: Plague Sorcerer + Blightbringer + Space Marine (Models: Models from Dark Imperium) look like?
I can’t find it in my junkyards.. Because I always slashed all spurs in the junkyard before my wife see what Conquest magazine come with. Just start building and painting Death Guard this week.

[Edit]
Never mind. Found it! Didn’t know it wasn’t green.

Spawn issue arrived. Now I’m wishing I ordered two. I can’t decide what bits I want to use, too many I like!

Though I do have lots of old pieces of things, I’ll see if I can find a body like part, build the spawn parts from there maybe..

Actually thinking on it, I may expand that search to non GW parts, Mantic and such I’ve got stuff from, something somewhere might suit..
