Zombicide: Undead or Alive by CMON

MAKE SURE YOU PAY AND SUBMIT YOUR SURVEY BY THE DEADLINE. Please be advised that this is the final deadline to guarantee your pledge and that we will produce based on the numbers of confirmed orders in BackerKit. We will no longer be making limited Late Confirm Packs available, so if you fail to confirm your survey by the deadline, we will be completely unable to offer you a pledge later.

> You know that farm that CMoN said they took Dark Age to? Well...

There was a shed in the back and several shots were fired???

Well, that's two out of two dead CMON lines I mentioned, someone said otherwise, and I was right.

Anyway, regarding any PM, wait and read the comments for any common issues that crop up. CMON's using a different PM, and a common issue is that it's not obvious what to do if you want to change your pledge, and that you cannot add to or otherwise your pledge in the PM once it's closed. To change your pledge, it's not obvious, but click on your pledge level on the first page of the PM to change it. I suppose you could contact CMON support to reopen a pledge, though.

And, fwiw, I saw a few Dark Age models and Wrath of Kings models on sale at the last Miniature Market sale. WoK prices seem to be going up in the sales, and I'm not seeing the starters there at the same price I paid for, or at all.

And, not related, but FFG's Armada no longer has new models made for the game line, although FFG says it will support them with "reprinting previous releases, and also supporting organized play."

I suppose it was foolish to assume that this trend would continue forever, but at least the Ghostbusters stuff will get 1st Ed rules.

I'm sure the delay is pandemic related. New Wave will get onto it lickity split right after the supply chain disruptions stop.

Oboy. More digital content I don't want to go along with that electronic Zombicide game that I'm not buying, either.

Yeah, I get it that CMON's looking for revenue that's outside of China's supply chain and shipping problems, but there's a good reason I'm dropping $150 on a zombie boardgame and waiting a year for it, when I could be dropping $15 on a zombie videogame and download it right now. (And if that game is Zomboid, I'm getting a penny back.)

Unfortunately, I'm gonna admit that I can't think of anything better. At best, a CYOA Zombicide game that can play solo and doesn't require much setup, but still requires physical components available at local stores to keep CMON sales. (I call this "painting at a dedicated paint desk" but this could be still be an app or something...). EDIT: CMON could scan their OOP miniatures and create Dark Age .stl's...

I legit have no idea what "non-fungible tokens" or "digital collectables" means in the context of my boardgaming/wargaming hobby, and why I should be...excited? ...should I be excited? ...that CMON is trying to bring blockchain into said hobby.

The snarky response is that you pay a ton of money to get a receipt showing that you own the original image (NFT) in question. Naturally, you can't physically hold the image, and copies of it are everywhere. But guess what! You have a piece of paper showing that you legally own the original image.

Non-snarky response: pretty much the same as the snarky response. You get the legal ownership of the original image in question, and all the rights accorded with that ownership, including in most cases, any income involved with the ongoing display/use of the image.

Unless it is a Banksy piece, I cannot image any form of status that owning the original image would bring...T-Shirt and poster production maybe?

It's not limited to images. People want to attach it to any bit of data they want to introduce artificial scarcity to. They want to make sure they can have Kickstarter exclusive digital content and NFT's are currently the "so hot we'll burn down the rainforest to compile them" way of generating security that makes people feel like they got something unique or limited edition or whatever.

I keep thinking of that Cosmic Encounter boardgame power, The Fungus, when I read non-fungible tokens. Anyway, for those who have an incomplete lack of interest here's how Steam (the videogame guys) do it. Apparently, if you work hard enough, you can make tens of cents selling them on the marketplace (although, given the price of Steam videogames on sale, that can still mean a "free" game . Of course, if CMON ties in physical content to the virtual trading cards like they did with the CMON comics...

This went live about 12 hours ago. At 675k atm.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cmon/masters-of-the-universe-the-board-game-clash-for-eternia

110 for base game+SG. 220 for base game+SG+plastic grayskull and expansion.

Daily unlocks and SGs. And I'm surprised at some of the includes like "Heyeyeye" Adam as a toke for a scenario..

Spoiler:

With only half their market available to purchase He-Man, I wonder how well the project will do. It seems like 10-15k backers are the best they'll be able to do.

Also it's always hard to tell if you're dealing with a 150 miniatures for your 100 bucks 'mega-blow-out-buy-it-now' CMON campaign, or a Trudvangesque, we got 80 minis and we'll write the rulebook later, campaign. But that will definitely be a big factor in how well it does.

Look like it will outsell Archon's which ended at about what CMoN's current backer and earning amount is right now.

I'm sure neither were happy about the regional restrictions. The games are different enough they easily could have both done world wide and even done a cross over pack. I think fans would have eaten that up.

The He-Man campaign has reached it's final 48 hours. For all the hype it felt like this one got, it's proven to be a rather minor affair.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cmon/masters-of-the-universe-the-board-game-clash-for-eternia/description

Behold the All-In Gameplay and All-In For Real Pledges!

The core pledge is $110 and comes with 79 miniatures and 18 terrain pieces, and rising. They just released an 8 mini He-Man stretch goal that really padded those mini numbers, and if they follow it up with 8 mini Skeletors it'll pad it even further. So, not incredible value from a plastic perspective, but you do get all* your favorite He-Man action figures as plastic minis to bash each other.

*They're still missing some big ones but probably they'll be in the stretch goals.

The completionist in me is very tempted by this stuff, especially with the She-Ra add-on.

I have to resist...

Most larger CMON KS draw in low to mid 20,000 backers this ones approaching 6,500 the licensing has obviously blocked a good portion of their regular backers.

In the end I couldn’t back either MoTU projects Archon didn’t even get a full European license probably just as well as somewhere between the 2 is the game I’d be interested in but I wouldn’t go in for both.

[sigh] I was never going to NOT back this one all the way.

At least I've recently moved to the same city as my childhood friend who was also a huge He-Man fan!

Didn't see it mentioned here, so just for awareness

From the CMON Facebook page on September 29

If there's something spooky in your neighborhood - let's say some zombies... Are you gonna call 911? No!

Introducing the Limited Edition Ghostbusters packs for Zombicide Modern! Quantities are limited, and preorder bundles with special prices start on Tuesday October 5th at 3 pm EST. Stay tuned for more information!

Curious reference to a special price for preorders. Personally I would have assumed there was only the one opportunity for purchase/preorder, making the "special price" the only price. Was there excess stock leftover for the TMNT promos, or did they only make what was ordered in the BackerKit?

And it's not something we didn't already know, but damn, that content split is irksome. I'd imagine the overwhelming majority of customers like myself always intended to get the full collection anyway, but splitting the team in two like that just seems a ridiculous thing to do for the people who only want the Ghostbusters themselves
