Mate, that is looking great! Very expressive. Love the shading on the robe, and the bindings on staff. Also, if you haven’t already, please do an OSL tute!

Great looking model bebop! I think the OSL turned out great and definitely agree with the staff swap.

Orange? Try something like a yellow ochre or raw siena first. If that proves unsatisfying, go with a raw umber. I have no idea what the proprietary names are for these colors-- Citadel, Vallejo etc and their silly naming schemes. Bah.

I like that staff conversion. If it is the sort of plastic the usual Wizkids minis have, it is a PITA to clean. The larger minis they produced for the D&D board games tend to be rather nice.

Thanks all for the interest.

@ san im not qualified to do a OSL tutorial, i just kinda push colors around until it looks close to right....then dial in any deets or cleanliness issues. I will say that i use a mix of glazing and two brush wet blendin, if that is at all helpful.

@Kavika Thanks, yeah i did ANOTHER staff swap...as stated below..

@Red It is a wizkids mini, not toooooo bad under the knife but i only did abosolute minimal work in that regard. The bummer is the "pattern" at the bottom of the robe which is just totally useless and illegible. I shouldve green stuffed over it but i honestly didnt expect to take this mini this far.....

ANNNNND shes done. As youll notice, once again i switched the icon of the staff. I did thoroughly paint it both wood, then bronze and i hated it. It was like a giant flat brown circle hovering over the mini. in hindsight, i should have clipped off the excess bricabrac like mushroom and spikes, lessened the area of it was taking up to just the moon face. that might have been cool, but either way, i cut up a piece of sprue stuck it on there, (youll notice that the ring attached cracked wheni cut the moon off....nuts.....minors....the shard came out well, im really mostly pleased with the whole model. I know i could take a few things to even the next level. But some practice is needed and i feel like any extra work at this point stands a better chance to be detremental. I LOVED painting this model. Hope you can tell!!

whatcha think??

Professional paint job much? you do realise i'm starting to build up a real urge to try some models as good as what you're producing lately! I feel very much like i'm plateauing with my paint and I'm always impressed and suprised by your models in such a good way! keep it up man!

Well done. The staff looks suitably neo-lithic. Good work on the OSL. And the base. Minis that have a base that go on a base...bah. I think your solution is a good one.

And she had a partner no? Wielding a Cleaver?

Play 40k? Why torture yourself?

That mini has the 'rage-fist' which is pretty much the sculptor's way of saying, "I've run out of ideas, and can't be bothered to think of any more." There are some other interesting sculpts in the Deep Cuts line, and the Nolzur's line. If I did not alreay have a huge, huge, huge back-log to paint, I would get a few for grins etc.

contemplating that. im going to buy a repulsor and i dont think i want that centerpiece tank to be yellow. I want all the big stuff grey.

Not where I should be

Could easily go with mainly grey and the odd panel the yellow, would look very effective.

thats not a bad idea either cam. I know that the standard rhinos/razor back cant transport primaris marines, so, once i buy the kit ill familiarize myself with it, it might be possible for certain pieces to swap out, if i decide to use it as its transport. however the other fact, is that i believe these dudes are super mobile so they may not want a transport anyways. There alot of data that keeps me in the grey arena. these guys are kinda just my spec ops commando unit and so i liked the idea of the yellow camo. everyone else will be grey

Really nice! The skin tone seems to be perfect. He looks like a Great White Man. I'm tentative to criticise the blade, because you said it's tabletop and it's still very good, but the only reason i'd do so is because the rest of the miniature is so outstanding that it draws the eye to the blade (so too of course does the contrasting colour). I'd dream of a day where that miniature looked like my tabletop standard!

Hey LDP! Thanks man yeah i hear you, do you mean that it seems maybe unfinished? If that is the case i initially painted more on it and i was just not doing anything i liked! i reset the whole process and left it at that stage for cooling off and maybe some inspiration will come to mind! im open to ideas!

That skin tone would be perfect for a certain Morlock mini. Have you painted any of those? I cannot recall.

The blade could use a touch of edge lining to indicate 'sharpness' and the cannelure, if it has one. but not the entire length of the blade.

Just a little C&C. The mini looks fine.

Not where I should be

Stunning bud, whole fig is well beyond TT, you know that right?

May I suggest either pick out the mechanics of the blade as metallic rather than blue, or as Red says pick out the edge. At the moment the whole blade is a bit of an amorphous blob, a amazingly blended beautiful and amazingly painted one, but it has no definition, and that is the only very tiny issue.

The shark skin head is fantastic. Looks exactly like it should. I'll echo the others, the sword does seem flat against the rest of the model with the nice shaded yellow and other detail.

Good work, BB. I didn't know they were supposed to have grey skin, but it looks nicely done.

@ whale: Thanks alot man! Still experimenting with the colors here on it. I need to just do like 10 test heads and nail it in.

@ Cam: Thanks for the advice. I took it and gave the edge, (but not middle) and edge highlight, its sharpened it up. It was a good medium because i sorta dug the lightsaber look lol, but your suggestion helped tighten things up. Thanks bud!

@ Dr H:Thanks, ya i didnt either until i saw a bit of fan art and they were black shark eyes and razor teeth with sorts greenish grey, kinda great white color, skin. Pretty gnarly!!

@ Damo I hate to love ya!

@ CArlos: Thanks man! All good dude, yellow is a snap. Just takes preparation!!

Gents, i have switched a gear to work on core troops for the slow grow league, which means ive halted the yellow reivers at 8/10 ( about to paint 9), to plan out the base troops for the sharks. Because i painted my standard marines BEFORE the slow grow league was started, i cant use them.. (in the league), so im kinda set back as far as a core for the sharks, The reivers are being admitted so yay for that! Basic Primaris is the new core, which is fine because i was planning to paint them up, just not so soon! No worries, i bought a box of easy to build to test out and they painted up real fast. STOKED. I can replicate this standard pretty easily. The skintone im still messing with> The grey armor makes it a bit trickier to pull off but i think i got a nice medium between flesh and grey and not the same grey LOL...anyways enough mindless rambling heres a bunch of pics.

Bebop

im under the clock so they are generally table top standard. i purposefully dont spend TOO much time dicking about with things. Gotta get a lot done in under a month >_<....

Bebop Out!
