According to this http://forum.blpublishing.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1473
He puts out some pretty turgid crap sometimes (most of the GG series among others) but he's still probably one of the only decent BL writers now that Spurrier and Brian Craig don't write for them anymore. I am looking forward to this book, I like Titans.

I am reading a new Black Library novel about Word Bearers. Some of their terminators manage to crawl up the leg of an Imperator Titan and blow it up with melta bombs. That was about the most stupid thing I think I have ever read. If the Titan could have kept moving (and there was nothing to impede it) the terminators never could have made it onboard.
The Eisenhorn trilogy by Abnett was really excellent.

IMO, Dan Abnett is by far the best 40k writer out there. His Eisenhorn trilogy would be a great fantasy trilogy regardless of 40k.
I agree with your assessment of Gaunts Ghosts. The series had its moments. I particularly liked it when the Ghosts were being manipulated by the eldar. However, the series more or less just turned into a never ending description of battles and I pretty much got bored with it into the 3rd book. But as dry as was, the writing was still great and each book definately had its moments.
His work on the Eisenhorn and Horus Heresy series is enough to guarantee that I will buy and eagerly read this new novel. Besides, he's already given us a taste of Titans in action in Eisenhorn III.
I'll be looking forward to this book, but I'm really excited about Legion.

i agree with Lifeafter, Dan Abnett is by far the best 40k writer. Gaunt's Ghosts novels are excellent novels. The only Titan "backstory" we have is the comic. I welcome the Titan series of novels.

A series on Titans could be and I plan on looking into it.
I can't wait for the next Horus Heresy book, Legion, by Dan Abnett. Currently reading Decent of Angels and Mitchel Scanlon is ruining it for me; as he did in 15 hours.

Geez...let's give Dan a little more credit than the pages you have listed. Dan knows his stuff. I would hope its a lot like the background on Heilsreich Hive on Armageddon where a Titan took a muclear blast and stumbled around for a little bit and got back-up.
