A simple proposition should normal CCW be able to cause penetrating hits on vehicles. Well what I'm trying to ask is should only power weapons and grenades be able to cause penetrating hits

To cause a penetrating hit, you need need S5 or better anyway against AV10, S6 vs. AV11 and S9 vs. AV14.

It's reasonable that such Strength could cause penetrating hits - it represents your ability to lift the tank over your head and throw it.

While I doubt that a S5 model could lift a tank and throw it, I agree with your general point... It's not the weapon involved that matters. It's the strength of the person wielding the weapon.

You have to remember that weapons in the 41st Millenium are not the weapons of today.

Even a CCW could (COULD!) be plunged through the sarcophagus of a Dreadnought.
Note that I didn't say it was LIKELY.

Ya people tend to over look that because better weapons means cooler explosions. Which I for one wholeheartedly support!

Ok. It obvious from the fluff that most, if not all of the weapons of 40k are far in advance of what we have today. And the armours often seem to be constructed from adamantium and/or plasteel which are both fictional metals. My point being that you cant really argue it from either standpoint. We dont know the wattage of a power sword or the yield strength of adamantium. All we can know is that if something hits something else hard, will it break? Maybe, maybe not. But its not hard to imagine a tyranid warrior putting his fist/claw/leg/assorted appendages through the armour on a warbuggy with relative ease

Frankly, if you're strong enough to splatter a human with one good punch, you're strong enough to punch through light armour. The S+D6 system makes a lot of sense to me.

He says ‘punch through light armour’ and you read ‘tank’.

'Splatter' being 'convert to paste', which is analogous to 'instant death'.
'human' meaning 'toughness 3', which mean you have to be Strength 6.
Light armour being that found on LIGHT tanks, APCs, and so forth. Thin, weak armour.


S6 is LOW for a monster, but about average for a human wearing a powerfist, which is a high-tech construction designed to give humans the power to punch through light armour.
A space marine, a genetically and surgically enhanced super-soldier capable of tearing a man limb from limb without one, can do damage to the heaviest armour with one. Mostly by hammering on the side and making things break.

I think if you read my first post if Specifically says should Normal CCW be able to cause penetrating hits.
I think it comes down to THINK BEFORE YOU SAY SOMETHING STUPID!!
