The site says they are 1/144 scale. But how does that translate to CM's or MM's or Inches?

Thanks,

I've got a bunch at home. Will try to measure. IIRC, they end up being ~28-35mm. The old 1/87 lead Gears from RAFM were a little smaller than a Tau Battlesuit.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Crap. I was hoping they'd be closer to 50 MM. That'd put them close to aTau battle suit. Maybe I could find some of thos eold lead guys you mentioned. Well, at least the current run would be about as big as a stealth suit. That's something.

Thanks for the measuring. Seems the DF9 is one of the few minis not on the comparison chart over at weetoysoldiers.com.

Heavy Gear come in 2 scales: the current models are 1/144 = 10mm = Warmaster.
Since the average Gear is 4m tall most Gear models are a bit smaller then GW Marines.
They are NOT fitting to GW models, really...

The old OOP RAFM Gears are 1/87 or 18mm. Here most Gears are about the size of a Tau Battlesuit.

See this pic from my website:

more Tau: http://www.agisn.de/html/tau.html
But bear in mind that the Gear is a Northern Guard Kodiak, which is one of the biggest Gears in the HG universe.

What are you planning? I still have a ton of old 1/87 RAFM Gears around...

The lower torso & leggs of that heavy gear model would be a cool conversion for broadsides w/A.S.S.

This is a good sight for scale minis.

The typical current DP9 Heavy Gear mechs are about the size of a Terminator, maybe a little larger.

The old RAFM Heavy Gear mechs (now OOP and hard to find) are clearly larger than a Terminator, but clearly smaller (less bulky) than a current Dreadnought.

In particular, the DP9 guns are very flimsy, being molded as scale model parts rather than Heroic gaming parts.

Well, i was thinking about a more Anime Tau battle suit force. Thought it might be a fun force. Been looking around for things the right size. It'd be cheaper AND better looking than the GW suits.

I was thinking something along the lines of just a VERY minned out set of troops, broad sides, stealths and suits as elites/HQ retinue.

Just thought it would be fun.
