Inspired by juddski's topic next door.

So we know that there's gamers of all sorts on Dakka here. I'm wondering how many artists that hang around here.

I started drawing 'seriously' in high school, god hooked and decided to run with it. Soon I'll be heading to Malaysia to finally finish that degree in illustration I started in the US. With the standard blood, sweat, tears, and some luck, hopefully I'll be makin a living off concept art and illustration one day.

Right now I almost exclusively work in traditional media (mostly ink and paint), but only because I haven't been able to afford a computer with enough muscle to handle long hours on graphic programs. I'm kinda behind the trends .

So who else here doodles? Considering half the wargaming hobby is craftwork, there's gotta be a few of you out there .

Everyone loves to see artwork too, so if there are any artists out there then please post some of your stuff! Sadly the sum of my art ability consists of cutting things up in graphics software so I have nothing interesting to share.

I would not neccesarily agree with you on that LegoB, I am sure you would have some way-cool Edited/Fiddled pics!

Griffu, can you please post some of your images? If you aren't worried about Copyright or such. I have no idea how those things are policed/arranged.

I've been sketching my backside off for many many many years. Since the 2nd grade. Unfortunately for me I never took it serious enough and didn't try hard enough to actually do something with it in high school and into college. Instead I joined the military and I'm now a fire fighter. I do however work on some concept stuff for an upstart game company out of Boston called Foghorn.

I've got a few things online, nothing amazing, but I have it up so I can keep my friends and family up to date on the kind of stuff I've been up to.

You can see my sketchbook here. That's as up to date as it gets, past concept work that is (legal issues of course!).

And there is more random crap over in the gallery of course. Some stuff I'm proud of, some I'm just Meh about.

I'd love to see some of your work Griffu, and any other Dakkaites for that matter.

Dumb question: how does Deviantart work? I'm not an artist, but sometimes
I doodle random crap and would be interested in having a nice accessible place
to store them. I do have a flickr account already. Would having both be
redundant or is there a reason to want to do both?

Think of it as a Myspace or Facebook for artists. Your account's gallery is specifically made for viewing rather than just storing. It depends on what you need though, a lot of people use it for networking like they do on Myspace, and some just want to keep their work handy than log into a filehosting site every time they want to show their work. It's mostly redundant if you just need storage, but if you want to network you do get more exposure since people might run across your page while browsing DA. I don't use it though, since I have some objections with the way the site is run.

Do a lot of charcoal work ? Sadly this craptop gets all kinds of errors on some sites, but I'll make sure to looksee later .

And since I started the topic I should probably post too, eh?Here's a pic or two of my work. They're from around February.

If there's anyone else that doesn't mind sharing, we all love to see pretty pics, like Lego said .

Thanks for the comments, guys .

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the thumb is a bit off, people have mentioned that a lot. For all the anatomy practice I try to get in, it's like my ability to draw hands just will not improve . Akira, the blue one was ink and a bit of colored pencils, the red one was acrylic paints.

That wall is a thing of beuaty, I can't imagine the patience one needs for that. How long did it take to finish it?

cheers and thanks for the positive comment Griffu,it took about 8 hours to do and should last about five years before it starts peeling ,my first pic was a human and an ork but when the next door neighbours kids looked out of the window it scared them so i painted over it , this is the third painting on the wall so far
