with the success of the FW Avatar rules created with the help of some fellow dakkites and warseer's, a few people in my group would like to cook up rules for the harlequin solitare. i really have no idea where to go with this one, so im gonna start at the ground up. keep in mind these are homebrew rules for casual gaming. saying this, im not looking for a simple "counts as" or comments like "why not use an autarch". im looking for insightful comments on how to make a set of fluffy yet powerful rules for the solitare.

suggestions?

Why not just adapt the rules from the Citadel Journal army list? That version of the Solitaire was pretty flavourful and badass (not compared to the 2nd ed version, of course!). Riveblades riveblades riveblades. Mmm.

ok, how does this look?

The Solitaire

Points: 110

WS 8 BS 5 S 3 T 3 W 3 I 8 A 4 Ld - Sv -

The Solitaire follows all the special rules for Harlequins in Codex: Eldar

The Solitaire is armed with a shurikan pistol and close combat weapon.

The Solitaire may replace his shurikan pistol for a fusion pistol for +10 points
The Solitaire may replace his close combat weapon with a Power Weapom for +10 points, a Harlequin’s Kiss for +5 points
The Solitaire may replace BOTH his shurikan pistol and close combat weapon with Riveblades for +25 points

Stand Alone: The Solitaire is an Independent Character. He may never join a unit.

Soulless: The Solitaire is thought to have no emotion, and in that no soul. He simply wonders the webway searching for those who can survive the ritual. The Solitaire is immune to all leadership based attacks, and is completely fearless and is immune to pinning .

Blitz Attack: The Solitaire has a charge range of 12. He does not receive the normal +1 attack for charging, instead, he gets one additional attack for each unused inch in his charge, up to 6 extra attacks.

She Who Hungers: The Solitaire plays the role of Slaanesh when performing, and in this lives a doomed existence. To behold such an enemy in combat is almost unbearable. If the Solitaire wins combat, opponent leadership gets an additional -1 when checking moral.

Riveblades: Riveblades are gauntlet like blades that come in pairs. They count as power weapons, but on a roll of a 6, any multi wound model hit dies automaticlly, regardless of wounds. Invulnerable saves are allowed.

He needs to get a save--the standard 5+ inv. should suffice.

Fearless units are already immune to pinning.

He should get a minimum of +1 attack when charging. The way it is now, he could theoretically charge an opponent at max range and get no bonus attack, which would be strange.

Slaanesh is She Who Thirsts, not hungers, IIRC. Also, I don't get why this would make the Solitaire so scary in CC. Might as well subsume the -1 Ld. effect under the Soulless rule.

A roll of 6 to wound (as in the CJ list) or to hit?

maybe you could give him something to increase strength and toughness.

you're close combat guy shouldn't just be stepped on and squashed by a demon prince.

When you'll generally be crashing into combat with 10 or so attacks, and only need to roll one 6 to kill outright, I think this 110 point model is doing pretty well for itself.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
