... http://us.games-workshop.com/news/current/orkspearhead/orkspearhead.htm

A number of Ork Warbosses have expressed concern that the New Ork Spearhead does not contain the new Ork Codex, meaning they won't have da rulz for all da new modelz! We agree that this is now way to get started on a greenskin horde so we are making Codex Orks available early to anyone who orders the Ork Spearhead.

Those who purchase or preorder the Ork Spearhead will now have the opportunity to buy the Ork Codex at the same time. These Codexes will ship on or around December 22, about the same time as the Ork Spearhead. This will be a full month ahead of the normal January 22nd Codex release. To get your Codex early, just order an Ork Spearhead from Direct Services, a Games Workshop Hobby Center or Independent Retailer.

If you have already preordered an Ork Spearhead
If you have already preordered an Ork Spearhead from a Hobby Center or Independent Retailer, you will have an opportunity to buy the Codex when you pick up the Spearhead.

If you have already preordered an Ork Spearhead from Direct Services or the Online Store, we will be contacting you to see if you wish to add a Codex to your order. Feel free to give us a call at 1-800-394-4263 with any questions or if you don't here from us soon.

Now if they would only address the issue that we actually care about: that the Ork Spearhead box is comically overpriced.

Well if this is true, then besically the ork codex is coming out....when was it the 22nd or so. Well, whenever the ork spearhead comes out. Once indipendent retailers have it, they will likely strip out the codex and start to sell it on its own. Along, with other people likely selling it on ebay etc.

Woo hoo, its better to release the codex before the models, that way people can make thier lists and have them ready by the time the models come out they know what they need to buy.

Which explains why they leaked it out to the internet already.

I know that little genius move is going to cost me $500 or so in the next two months.

Good move. But they waited way to close to the release of the Spearhead to announce this.

grr, tried three times to post this but explorer keeps crashing, anyhow:

went to GW today, picked up pre-ordered spearhead, asked about buying codex.

was informed could buy codex ut only if i bought a spearhead today.

pointed out i had bought a spearhead and had just picked it up

told this didn't count as i hadn't paid for it today.

refunded my pre-ordered spearhead

used money from this to buy a new spearhead

bought new codex.

Vompire, welcome to Dakka. Please use punctuation in the future. You’re arguments will be sign with greater merit and you’ll avoid people calling you on it.

Strange way of coding things at a GW shop.

The indy shop I bought mine was pretty simple. While the contents seem a little skimpy from the box, it is full of sprues and metal. Awesome details on the plastics.

After 18 years in the hobby, this will be the first time I've ever built an Ork army.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

the only savings you get with the spearhead are the bomb-squigs. you have to pay for the new codex also. but i bought it anyway.

I calculated it as a $15 savings over buying all the stuff individually
CDN
Trukk $45
warbiker mob $50
Shokk attack gun $40
Wierdboy $25
Boyz $35
Lootas n Burnas $30
Tankbustas $40

and if you get the bomb squigs, thats another $14

The batallionbox will be a ripp-of too.
You save whole 15 Euros.
Whoa! Great!
So compare it to the 47,50 Euro saved when buing the Tau box, or over 30 when buying Marines.
And how many points you are able to field with the Orcbox? 230 without any wargear and upgrades.
