I understand that rending will be nerfed big time in 5th. All rending results to be determined on the to wound instead of the to hit and glance only results for armor pen.

If this is true then stealers lose 20% of their offensive punch.

Right now 2 stealers with 6 attacks on the charge score 1 rend and 3 hits, The 3 hits wound a MEQ 50% and the MEQ saves 33% for a total of 1.5 dead MEQS.

Under the new rule 6 attacks result in 4 hits, 4 hits result in .66 rends, 3.33 x .5 = 1.66 wounds x .33 = .55 failed saves. .66 + .55 = 1.21 dead MEQS

Question will this be a big enough nerf to end stealer shock as a viable tourney list?

Nids have an old Codex. The nerf will probably pinch Stealer Shock a bit, until the next revamp of the book, at which point, they will be fine.

Lol - what about the rest of the new rule set. Some of those rumours may help stealers, things like extra movement.

I'd await seeing the rules in full before drawing conclusions.

neh, with the next edition, we will all have to accept that the game play will shift to some extent or another.

If stealer shock phases out, so be it. Nids will still be a very viable option, and if you love fielding 6 million billion some genestealers squared, you probably will still be able to, but maybe not as effectively.

who knows, maybe in the next edition Ogryns will be the hot new thing to field... aw, who am I kidding... that ain't happening, no matter how many request chits I send to the Emperor...

Stealers already have Fleet The new movement may just make CC 'fexes viable again though (yay!)

I'm sure there will be a 15 disc super duper blu-wiener-ray edition that will have every little thing included. - Necros, on Watchmen

The rumors for forced march state infantry can get additional movement. Carnifexes are monsterous creatures and may not benefit (remains to be seen).

As far as the OT, yeah there is nothing good about the rumors as far as genestealers go: Rending getting nerfed, outnumbering becoming a larger factor in combat resolution, everyone getting a psuedo fleet roll, every charger going first.

These being true would lead to a reduction in the overall effectiveness of a genestealer brood, primarily because their advantages become somewhat moot compared to much cheaper models.

snoogums: "Just because something is not relavant doesn't mean it goes away completely."

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."
