Hi folks,
I've reluctantly fallen for the green tide, and have been working on a a small armylist - obviously being a newby, any feedback is appreciated!

- Warboss
Big Choppa, Shoota/Rokkit, 'Eavy Armour
I know a Big Choppa is regarded as a waste, but not only have I made an effort to keep the Warboss cost's down, I feel that being able to strike at initiave with a str. 8 on the charge would make him a wonderful Character killer. A rokkit because even if the odds are low, I feel I need an extra rokkit, if to worry the opponent if nothing else.

- 20 Ork Boyz (Shootas)
2 Big Shootas, Nob, Power Claw, Bosspole
A large anti-infantry mob which will be able to close in with the close combat nasties in my army.

- 17 Ork Boyz (Sluggas & Choppas)
Sluggas & Choppas, Big Shoota, Stikkbombs, Nob, Power Claw, Bosspole
We often fight on cityfight terrain, hence my willingness to go footslogging with Big Shootas & stikkbombs.

- 2 Warbuggies
2 Rokkit Launchers, 2 Red Paint Jobs
I've been really struggling with this one. It seems that at 500pts, any real anti-tank investment takes a huge bite out of the general Ork combat effectivness. I also don't feel comfortable relying on a SAG in an army this small, for all it's tepremental (if humourous) behaviour. For the points, I feel that the buggies are the best answer, especially if stripped down to their bare essentials.. Also, the benefit of these vehicles is that I have some decent speed to lock down any skimmers or such that attempt to harras my footsloggers, or the possibility of snaking round to get some clear shots at side armour. I'll of course split these into 2 seperate Fast Attack units.

At 500 Points I can't realy find any big fault in this list. The only thing I can think of is to give the Warboss a Bike so he can deal with the long range threats while your boyz slogg up the board.

in a foot slogging list a warphead would be useful for possible extra waagh

Warphead

Shoota Boyz (20) 2 rokkits, nob w/ klaw

Shoota Boyz (20) 2 rokkits, nob w/ klaw

warbuggies (2) 1 w/ TL rokkit
1 w/ TL big shoota

of cource you may or may not have these models, but that works out to 500 exactly. i'd love to find 5 pts for a tl rokkit on the other warbuggy.. you could take a rokkit out of a shoota boy squad

you could swap out the warphead for a warboss with slugga, powerklaw at the same cost if you would prefer.

shoota boyz are almost always better in smaller games because of their effective 24" range. (move + 18" shoota)

marines have to move into range to hit you with bolters but your response is 35+ dice back at them while you close in. much better than foot slogging slugga boyz.. save them for when you're going to use trukks.
