2250 Ogres....ON THE DOT!

The sad thing is that once you figure out what unit configurations work, and you start adding them all together, the list practically writes itself. It didn't take very long to write, I started with the 3 Butchers and Tyrant and then started adding stuff and was done so quickly it was almost sad.

I added it all up and it came out to 2250 on the dot, but at the same time I'm willing to bet there are a million lists like it out there already, mainly because the Ogre book is so blatant in what's good and what's not.

I followed the general "advice" of what's supposed to be competitive for Ogres at 2k+, hence the three butchers. I've only played about 6 games with Ogres so far with decent results in friendly games, but I'm only using 2 Butchers and it's been at 2k, not 2250.

Any advice? I figure I've got a lot of play testing to do if I want to play at a tournament with Ogres. I've got everything I need to build this except the Yhetee's and the third Butcher, so I want to get some opinions before I purchase anything.

Looks pretty good. I'd try to squeeze in a banner (maybe even a warbanner) or two for the ironguts, though. You'd get some extra combat res & look-out-sir that way.

Not sure where I'd nab the points for that other than the Gnoblars, or dropping the Yhetee's down to Iron Guts, but I really like them for the ability to go through the woods and nab targets, and M7 is just nice. I figure they can do decent things, but I've only tested them once and they whiffed and got run around till they eventually died.

I have never been sold on Leadbelchers. In my experience they do nothing then get eaten in combat. They have their uses but in the long run I have never seen them do anything other than give your opponent victory points. Yehtee's are a great surprise unit and are great against trees and daemons (though not DL).

I would drop the 2 units of Leadbelchers for 2 more bull units just to use as bait and flee type units so you can get better charges with the Iron Guts. That should in the end give you a litte bit more of an edge against most of the elite armies out there, and give you some more hitting power against horde armies.

The Gorgers are a great unit its just to bad you can't have more of them. They are wonders against war machines. Also the look on your opponetns face when 2 Goergers pop out right next to Thorek and eat him alive.

If you want some time next week you can try it out against either my mortals or daemons to see how it will do.

My LB's have done pretty well in games at the shop. Stand and Shoot reactions and the ability to shoot nasty ASF High Elves or other targets (Fast Cav) has proven pretty effective.

I essentially use them as you would cheap bulls, bait and flee units or flankers. If it's an enemy I'd like to see persue into a better position, I let them die, and hopefully set it up so I can stand and shoot before they give up their points.

I have the models to swap them for Bulls if decided to, but so far I've found them useful. Course I've not managed to pull the misfire result that does 6 wounds and eliminates the unit yet, but hey I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

We can setup a game after tomorrow, I'm enjoying the army from friendly games enough that I'm just dying to get more matches in with it to learn more about the list.

That could be a possibility, Bring them I do want to atleast get a single game of 40K in tonight if I can but I would love to take my Mortals against that list.

voodoo, if you were to take this list to 3000 how would you field it? I have a 3000 pt league coming and I found your tactical advice for orks amazing.

Thanks,

NaZ
