Do i need to have 8 rhinos to make the battel company??.. or do i go by the list as it reads in the formation box that says simply for exampe a tactical sqaud. Is not the rhino simply an option for a tactical sqaud?

AtraAngelis-No, you do not need to take Rhino's. You do however, need a dedicated transport for each squad, inc. Cmd.
I use Drop Pods myself.

Actually, nowhere does it say that the squads are required to have transports... so you can walk them, if you want to.
|
As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

lord_sutekh-My Apoc book at home. But I am positive each squad needs a dedicated transport. It is part of the formation requirements. You can, however, not deploy them in said transports, and stroll casually across the board if you wish!

Im looking at the apoc book right now and all it says the following in the formation requirements box.
...
x# of 10 man tactical sqauds
X# of 10 man Assault squads
X# of 10 man devastator sqauds
...
(command section and numbers removed so as not to post printed rule)
As it reads..i need a tactical sqaud in a 10 man count.. how i build said sqaud with upgrades and options is up to theplayer... Transports or not.

There's no requirement for transports.

Why do they make sure to include it in each squad section(pic)? Even command? Why does the "Company Battle Box' come with all of the transports?
Because it is required to field in the Apoc. formation to get the Strategic Assets, +200 points.
And then you read the Formation fluff, they waffle on about the Imperium, but nowhere do they mention you need transports for the Formation........
Seems the RAW is you don't really need them.....sigh I was wrong.

I know this is Dakka, and more specificaly YMDC, but you are talking Apocalypse. Apocalypse is meant to be played in fun friendly games. I think it is fine to buy/not buy the vehicles as long as your opponents are ok with it.
Everyone knows the headaches that the vague GW rules create, but I think Apoc is one area where we dont need to sweat the rules too hard. Just have fun.

Thinking about it, it would seem that to a new player jumping into it they would say, "OOHH!! I want to field that!" (the marine battle company). From there they'd look on the website seeing that nice $450 box set, and BAM! they have a sale.
But fluffywise it makes sense what you say.
