.................................... Searching for Iscandar

So I played a few games with the mass Nurgle Biker list against 2 armies of mine.

My buddy ran the Nurgle Bikers.

1 Sorceror on Bike, Nurgle, Rot.
2xEC 5 man squads, BM and bolters.
2x10 man Bike squads, PF + 2 Meltas.
1x6 man bike squad, PF + 2 meltas.

First was against a SW drop pod army.

2xWolf Guard w/AC, 5x 8man (melta, pf) bolter squads in pods, 1 ven dread (AC) and 1 regular dread (TL las, HF).

Second and third were against my Tyranid MC list.

Gunwall as follows:

2 Tyrant, VC + Dev.
3 Fex, 2x Dev, BS upgrade.
3 Fex, 1xDev+VC, BS upgrade.
7x3 Stealers, EC.
2x12 Hormagaunts.

As this was a playtest, we didn't bother with scenarios or any objectives.

More to follow.

Vs Space Wolves:

First turn he sped around, waiting for my Drop. EC units were hiding in the backfield, the bikes were circling the center of the table.

I dropped 3 SW squads and my Ven dread between his small biker squad and a large unit of bikers. The other was just on the other side of the hill, but would be in range to help.

I cut the area the 3rd biker unit could help by dropping 4 pods in a line and dropping the Ven dread on their side of the pod; while the SW go out on the far side.

I dumped 2 units of SW into the large biker unit, and killed 3 bikes. Not exactly 'killy'. I used the Ven dread and the other squad against the smaller squad, but only killed 1 biker.

Note on drop pods: They fired and were very accurate, but in the end killed maybe 1 bike and 1 EC marine.

The large bike unit passed it's morale test.

The large bike unit down to 7 and the sorc came forward to assault one squad, near the top of my pods. The 10 man biker unit came up to meltagun the ven dread. The small biker squad moved down to assault the SW unit at the bottom of the drop pod formation.

The middle squad of mine was left alone.

The sorc cast nurgles rot and got 14 marines in his KZ, dropping 2 from the top SW squad and 1 from the middle.
The 7 man biker squad opened up but only killed 1 marine. The 10 man biker squad fired at the dread but rolled '1's for pen and did nothing. The 5 man biker squad fired at the squad in front of it and dropped 1 marine.

Assaults then commenced. The Sorc and the 7 man biker unit killed 4 marines, and the SW ran and were cut down. The 7 man consolidated into the middle squad, and the Sorc consolidated away.
The 5 man biker unit didn't do much to the southern squad or vice versa and they remained in combat.
The 10 man biker squad lost 2 bikes to the ven dread and lost combat, and broke. They ran towards their board edge, and the Ven dread moved towards the Chaos Sorc.

My next turn I dropped my regular dread behind the running chaos bikers, and the game would have been over at that point but on his next turn we auto-rallied that squad so we could keep playing.
My wolf guard leaders came in with the last two drop pods, which I focused on the two 5 man EC squads.

The ven dread shot and wounded the Chaos sorc twice, and prepared to charge him. The regular dread fired his heavy flamer and wounded 3 of 4 bikers, 2 of whom died. This was a recurring event throughout the night, 7 fails on 9 saves in the first two turns of the game.
My regular marines and their AC buddies wiped the squad on my right, but on the left I dropped 1 whole marine.

I assaulted with my Ven dread, and caused 1 wound on the Sorc which he promptly saved.
The two remaining SW units fighting the somewhat depleted biker squads in the south were either destroyed or ran, and being so close to my board edge were lost to me.

During his turn, he moved both his large bike squads up to beat the ven dread up.
The EC on my left dropped 3 marines in cover with the BM and partialed the termie and I rolled a '1'. Down he went. Lost another squad member to bolter fire, and they ran away but luckily I rolled 5" of movement for my run AND my re-run at the start of my turn and couldn't rally.

He then charged my Ven dread with 2 squads and moved his much weakened 'small' biker squad to prevent being shot at by all of my drop pods which handily were in a row.

My ven dread dropped the Sorc, and the two power fists blew him up.

I moved my normal dread, AC Termie and my remaining full squad up on over the hill to fire at the Nurgle bikers.
I charged with what I could muster, my dread and the termie but sadly just managed to lock him up.

He counter charged with his two units of unengaged bikers, and his EC kept harrassing my broken SW squad. The EC had to move up to keep them running, and did so.

My dread and my termie were wasted in combat, and he rearranged his 4/4/2 squads of bikers to take the fire from my remaining SW squad.

I ran my last squad of SW forward, and sprayed his nurgle bikers with lots of SB fire from my drop pods but they didn't accomplish much. My broken squad rallied and fired on the EC but only killed 1.

I charged his 2 man biker squad and managed to kill it after two rounds of assault, but his other 8 bikers kicked my trash. His EC on his turn put a blast template into my other squad and wiped them out.

It was a very interesting game. The Nurgle bikers are very vulnerable to morale issues. The Sorc while difficult to kill outside of close combat, was relatively worthless in CC. I think he'll be using a DP very soon.

Especially with how the two games against the TMC list went. More on that later.
