As part of the
January Monthly Vows project, I promised to paint up a unit of Ironguts. I'd thought these done until I reviewed the pictures and noticed their eyes (and all of my wolves' eyes thus far) had been overlooked (no pun intended). Regardless, here are three ogre-wolf ironguts, for your amusement!
More Rackham models, being pretty. We've got three ogre ironguts with great weapons, one of which is a musician/bellower/howler.
The one responsible for holding the right flank swings his mighty greatsword at his foes. (The shield isn't really there. Nope, all just an illusion.)
The Howler wields a greataxe that's so heavy, he has to have a rock to counterbalance it. That's right, a ROCK!
The third irongut points menacingly, in an "evil eye" kind of way.
Right flank irongut again, this time viewed from the flank. I know it's a +1 to combat res, but would you really want to charge in under that?
The rear of the right flank irongut. Well, it's really from the left flank, since he's kind of standing oddly... the big gap on his base (and the back of the howler's) will hopefully be large enough for me to add a small tree as a scenic element.
The Howler. A combination of Rackham models, putty, and even a
GW ogre bit.
Same Howler, different angle.
The back of the Howler. Lots of armour, as befits a heavy armoured creature!
The final side of the howler. I wasn't happy with the way the light hit his head in the nose-on shots, so this makes the skin look a bit better, I feel.
The irongut on the left flank. I really don't like his head, but I can't decide if it's the paint I don't like, or the sculpt itself. I love the pose, though.
After looking from this side, I think I just don't like the way the head looks from the front. Of course, if I'm looking at the front of my models in a game, something's gone horribly wrong!
The back of the irongut on the left flank. This angle makes me want to repaint that weapon very badly, as the dried bloodstains look like brown smears and not the desired result.
It's almost like an evil monkey pointing at you!
The unit again, this time at a human model's view. Not something I'd want to see racing towards me!
