first I am going to ask.. is this based on models you own or what you are trying to go for??

if you have not committed to the models I have several suggestions. I've been an ork player for YEARS and while I happen to prefer the trukk rush, it seems like you are more likely to lean towards a foot-slogging build.

that being said, make sure you read the "dakka ork tactica" thread in the tactics part.

I am going to tell you that in ALL cases.. take max squad sizes or don't bother. taking 5 tankbustas, 4 nobs, 1 big gun etc is useless. orks succeed because they are either

A: in a squad too big to whittle down in a single barrage of fire, taking advantage of the mob size rule to keep them fearless

B: in a trukk or battlewagon to keep them relatively safe during the advance forward.

now that being said, you have 2 choices when it comes to your troops:

20 or 30 man squads (I think 30 is better) equip them with shootas and rokkits, nob with klaw and bosspole

or 12 man squad in TRUKK, with 1 rokkit and a nob w/ klaw, bosspole.
give the trukk red paint, rokkit, ram, stikkbomb chucka

as far as your warboss goes.. if you are going to field him, either put him on a bike or put him in a trukk. otherwise you're better off with either a mek with KFF or a mek with SAG.

why no lootas in your list? they are DEVESTATING in most situations.

I need to find out if you have bought the models or not, so when you read this post an answer and I'll check back in a day or so with some suggestions based on what you have.

hope it helps.. in the meantime check out the ork tactica

no army yet? then I would suggest reading the tactica, I'll get back to you with an army list or so. in the meantime.. would you rather play footslogging or trukk based?

I would more likely play a footslogging army

If you are going footslogging, you need lots of boyz, as many as you can get.

Most people favor a KFF mek to give the boys a cover save while they wade through fire. Others do two warpheads and hope for the constant stream of Waaghs to get you into combat faster.

It depends on your play style, if you want to be more aggressive, take two warpheads and hope the gamble pays off, if you want to be more defensive, KFF meks are the way to go to keep as many boys alive as possible.

Warboss on bike is excellent. Give him a power klaw, cybork, attack squig, and the bike and you have a lethal fighting machine on wheels.

But first and foremost, lots and lots of boyz.

Never attribute to malice which can rightly be explained by stupidity.

Unless you alreadt have the gretchins i would drop them for a more useful unit (maybe add some long distance shooting to your army). If your just starting up an ork army (like myself) i would go for points over time, so start with 500pts/750pts, then build up. it will also allow you to get a feel for an amry and it will make it easier and cheaper to change units around.

As said earlier the best option is to have larger groups. Currently you have 63 orks making up 4 units but it would be better to have 3units of 20orks. really the only time your should have lessin a unit is if you're mounting them in a truck (12 orks).

KFF are a orc footsloggers best friend. An Orcs next best friend is more bodies to benefit from the coversave and throw more dice. My recommendation would be to have a goal and stick to it. If you want to do a CC army dont take lootas as A.) your main goal is to get into combat with as many green bodies as you can and you could field a whole group of CC orks with the PK and rockets in place of a unit of Lootas.

i disagree with the lootas assessment.. and I play KOS so I run out of targets NOT in assault usually by turn 3. they're just too good at glancing tanks to death and wiping up infantry squads. not to mention thinning down squads before your stormboyz or shootaboyz get there to assault them to death.

also good under current rules to get torrent of fire, to wipe out that power fist ahead of time

The problem with fielding that many lootas is that they're going to get pummeled; they're just as squishy as your regular ork boys, and they're going to attract a lot of fire. I would strongly reccomend dropping the second unit and taking more boys.
