There is some question as to the number of Tournament-ready armies the typical player owns.

For the purposes of this poll, "Tournament-ready" will be defined as:
- at least 1850 pts of 40k or 2000 pts of WFB
- all Citadel models
- fully-painted in at least 3 colors
- fully-based with flock or gravel!

That means that an army won't count if:
- not enough points owned / assembled
- requires non-Citadel models to reach 1850/2000 pts
- requires unpainted / unassembled models
- has non-based models

Note also that it doesn't actually matter whether you've actually taken the army to a Tournament. Only whether you have the ability to bring a full-size, fully-painted, fully-based GW army to the Tournament.

I've got about 5000pts of Marines, and 7500 in IG, plus about 2500 in Empire that I've played all of twice.

Now that I think about it, I could second enough IG stuff to form a Daemonhunter army of tournament size, and still be able to field two good 1850 lists (one all infantry, one armor heavy), and my Marines can support both a drop pod army and a SAFH.

2500 or thereabouts of Orcs and Goblins, 4500 or possibly more of Orks.
I have 1500 points of chaos too, which is standard for tournies over here, but I voted 2 within the parameters of your poll.

If you want to get technical, none of my armies fit your description of tournament ready, because I generally don't flock my bases. I like the black bases, is that really so wrong?

I'm a two army, two system man.

Everything else I have maybe 1-2 squads painted.

Now if we start talking about PP instead...

Start a thread for pp.

I have right about 2'000 points of Ultramarines painted and based. I also have an unpainted but tournament size chaos army and a half painted smaller(1000-1500p) Black Templars army. Oh, I can't forget my 1000p Ork army. But I only counted my ultras to be fair.

25,000 points of Guard, 25,000 points of Chaos, 10,000 points of Marines and 'Nids and 8,000 points of Necrons.

Painted? Maybe 1000-1500 points worth, combined, from all armies.

I hate painting.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

My Eldar are good to go, minus an HQ (want to get FW Avatar).

Lizards not so much. Ditto Everblight.

I much prefer converting/ assembling but I'm now dissatisfied with my mountain of unpainted and am working/ ebaying my way through it.

For those who are curious, I've got something like 3-4k worth of Eldar painted & based.

I like building & converting and I'm OK at painting, but I don't like basing, so there's a good pile of painted stuff that I'm not counting: another 3-4k in Eldar, 3k in SM, 2k of IG, 2k of Inquisition, plus 2k of DoW. When I finally get around to doing bases, I'll be a God.

Well I had an ork army ready to go but the new codex knocked my army points down plus the models that were no longer legal so I need to paint up or build some stuff to get back up to legal status as well as complete a necron army by August.

Once i finish an army i generally sell it to fund my next project so i rarely am ever sitting on a finished tournament ready army. I do have a giant beastman army that is basically fully painted though.

In Fantasy I have Dwarves and Wood Elves of at least 3500 to 4000 points each tournament ready. In 40K I started with Orks, then Necrons, then Cadian Guard, then Eagle Warrior Marines, and now I'm wrapping up Tau and Eldar. Except for the last two unpainted and flocked, I've got anywhere from 2500 to 6000 points of each army in the case and ready to roll.

I can't imagine spending months getting an army ready and selling it. I feel for those guys that have to do it or get bored with their old army...

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

It definitely sucks, its just i get more enjoyment from modeling than i do playing. Its not easy parting with them though by any means, when i did this the most was in college/high school when i needed to recycle the money back into the hobby. Now that i have a good job ill be keeping my work.

Well, I only have one (Chaos) that BARELY fits the bill... but I'm growing the army, so it'll be good.
I have a SM army being painted by now... I should have it by April (it's about 5K points).

My buddy, though...

::shudder::

He has the following:
*Khorne: 5 to 6K
*Nurgle: same
*Tzeentch: same
*Emp's Children: same
*Undivided: same
Nids: 10 to 11K
*Eldar: 6K+ (trickling in from the painter & Ebay right now)
Witchhunters: 4 to5 K
FW Renegades: 3.5 to 5K
*FW DKoK: 6 or 7K
*Black Templar: 4 to 5K
GK (as support units): About 1500 pts
SM's (same): About 1000 points

Everything is assembled and completely/professionally painted.

* Indicates "Currently adding units."

He's looking into Orks, now, too.

B**tard.

If I didn't get to play with the models every Saturday, I'd really hate that guy! LOL

I have a ready-to-go IW (now just normal old chaos marines, yawn) of 2000pts. I have enough models to field a fully-painted IW army of 8000pts though.

But for tournaments, i have a specific list i like to use.

Heya Darrian:

Thanks for the offer. I'm OC, so if I were to do hobby stuff in a shop, I'd probably go to the Bunker.

I've got something like $50 worth of basing materials that's been sitting unused for years. Eventually, after / as I finish building, I'll get my basing completed.

-looks around- Kind of like some of you have minis.
