The USA

hello.

i am wanting to start 2 small tank armies. one american, one german. i was thinking about doing 1500 points as tanks can add up quick and i want a few models on the table.

i know for the panzer company i want to use my tiger as HQ... thats about all i got so far.

but i really have no clue what to pick up for the american army.

if it is possible then i would also like to get an armored unit or two.

anyone got any tips on what i should pick up??

The only way to do that is to build a Late War Tiger Company, using the rules from the Villars Bocage supplement.

Check out the Festung Europa supplement for the rules for a Late War American Tank Company (of the Afrika supplement if you want to do a Mid-War American Tank Company).

I would say you need to pick up some supplements so you know what you are doing.

Yeah if you want a Tiger as hq the villers bocage list is your only option. However it's a cheap one $ wise.

1)Tiger list
5-6 Tigers, get the tiger box for $60+ wittmann $18 and you've almost got a 1500 point army. It also contains the list inside on a little booklet, so all you need in addition is the rule book. It's not the best army around, but a good place to start because you don't have to paint much and they look neat.

some other ideas

2)Panther list
8 panthers, around 1500 points and maybe $90 dollars. Festung Europa book

3)Pz4 list
12 pz4, $110. Get some nebelwerfers and maybe recon for another $40-$50. Villers Bocage rulebook or Festung Europa

US
1)
2 boxes regular shermans, 1 box sherman 76's gives maybe 1300 points for $135. Add on some recon and maybe air support makes 1500. Needs Festung Europa book. That's about as small as a US tank company gets, 15-17 tanks and some extras.
