Here what i played vs on local tourney(mini event)

HQ: Shas'el (1#, 97 Pts) x2
Missile Pod; Hard-wired Multi-tracker; Plasma Rifle; Targeting Array

Elite: Crisis Battlesuit (1#, 77 Pts) x2
Team Leader; Missile Pod; Hard-wired Multi-tracker; Plasma Rifle; Targeting Array

Troops: Fire Warrior (6#, 60 Pts) (pulse rifles) x2

Heavy Support: Hammerhead Gunship (1#, 140 Pts) x2
Ion Cannon; Two Burst Cannons; Targeting Array; Multi-Tracker; Target Lock; Disruption Pod; Decoy Launchers; Landing Gear

Total Roster Cost: 748

What sportsmanship you'l give player for a such "roster" ???

All 3 games we played he put all his forces behind some building (any cover that completely block LoS) and jump out and back in cover with his Crisis's

I'd give him a solid punch in the groin for minimizing his Fire Warriors. Not cool man, not cool. Looks like he was in it to win it though, he knew he'd have enough board space to keep hidden and took advantage. What were you playing?

Man, sportsmanship is SOOOO subjective. Tricky question, that.

If it's a tournament, people are there to win. They'll do things like take two min-sized troop choices to max out on other stuff, and it's completely legit. Army composition should not affect sportsmanship scores, only how the player handles the game (ie, if he cheats, acts like a jerk, etc).

Not to start the whole "what's cheese" argument, but I don't really believe in cheese. Yes, there are overpowered / underpriced units, but facing difficult situations in a game do make you a better player. In this list, he's got 16 models in a 750 point army. Sixteen. Mobility is a key in this game, and a competent army should be able to scoot something around and get shots at the stuff that's hiding. Wittling him down, especially the suits, should really hurt him as he'll be losing large chunks of his firepower with each model killed.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

We played 3 scenarios and he simple close all his forces in a corner or behind some cover and outshoot anything on other side of table, we play one scenario with loot counters, one where you must defend bunker, and one simple pitched.
so in loot - he simple cleaned all the table with shooting and then on last turns got some loot - so he got a lot of points and massacre, second was pitched battle - he played vs drop ig, and put all his units deep in far corner, so he again don't lost anything and killed all, third mission was bunker and me with my sororitas, he put all his suits behind building right in front of bunker - and all his actions was - move 6" from cover > shoot > move 6" in cover again.. so in all games even if you strategic genius and move your units more wise way then anybody else.. only things you will see - two hamerheads,, mostly out of range of any of your weaponry.
so how you wanna kill army that you even not see? - there was some restrictions like no more then 8str weapons, and no vehicles with front+side+rear armor = >35.

ps. event been mostly for beginners.. so imagine what impression from game they got after such miserable experience ?

Ah, that's the information that was missing -- it was geared towards beginners. So yeah, that makes him a pickled pork turd (jerk).

What size tables were you playing on? At that size, it should have been 4x4.

Still, Fire Warriors are ballin', shouldn't be minimizing them. It's kinda like an afront to the Tau race in itself.

Anyways, his tanks were exactly 35 total armour, so he screwed you on that one. And he took 2. I always keep a Broadside handy just in case someone like him comes along though, just to watch the invisible flames from his burning crater of a vehicle.

He also knew that the highest possible armour was going to be 13-12-10 and thus he brought out the missle pods and ion cannons.

Sure, a challenge is great, I know I always love one. The thing is that there was never a chance in this case. Especially if it was a beginners tournament too. The prize for the winner(if there was a prize) was probably meant for someone who actually was a beginner so they could get into the hobby a bit quicker. It wasn't meant for someone who already had a 3000+ army.

I stand by my groin punch.

Aside from the possible cheating if you're right about the AV limit (and why didn't anyone call him on that?), I don't understand the complaint. This is, after all, what Tau armies do. Whether it's 750 pts or 1750, this is what you see when you play against Tau: suits JSJing the whole game while heavy tanks blow gak up. It's the nature of the beast.

In more big tourneys i rarely seen 2 hammer heads..
about AV limit it as no higher then 35 (= sorry for error. so his 13+12+10 was ok.

Table was normal 4x6, and his crisis's and hamerheads - he always packed them this way, he even dont think about possibility of other weapon\wargear combination. (difference between his this roster and normal - he use rails on HH)

About broadside (= there was limit of max weapon str 8, so no rails on broadsides.
and 1) his roster jerk 2) more of - he played as big jerk, he even not tried to think or make any wise\strategic moves, trouble was that he even not move at all (not count his jump out\shoot\jump back on same place)
3) after all of this he even dont know ruls well and very often dictate them as he understand them (his meaning of them if far - far away from what it mean in reality)

Again, I cannot blame him. If I were a Tau player presented with enough terrain to limit LoS to my tanks and allow all my suits to JSJ, I would be a fool to move unless a very pressing reason presented itself. Think about it--aside from taking objectives, most Tau movement is, in the first place, aimed at obtaining a position on the board where this ideal situation is possible. Why throw such an advantageous position away if you have it to begin with? It may not be very fun for the other player, but it is optimal play, pure and simple.

If, on the other hand, there were times when the situation was such that he really should have moved, but chose not to--well, that's his own funeral, isn't it?

That's what Tau do. What you're saying is, that he should have left his cover and come out in the open so that his opponenets could just blast his suits away? Hmm, yeah, that sounds like good times for him.

You have to run up to him and get in close. Then he's screwed. Charge his Fire Warriors and Suits with a CC unit, and get in range to blow up the Hammerheads. Game won.

Also, I'm planning on taking THREE Railheads in an upcoming 4 player, 750 per person, 1500 per team match. It'll be a rematch, with Tau (myself) and Tyranids vs IG and Space Marines. Cheese? Tasty, tasty cheese!

People are right.. that is what tau do.. and besides there is no reason why he should throw away a victory just to make people like him. I mean it is a tournament so you would try your best to win. Maybe you should try looking at it from his point of view. But then if he really was that much of a jerk during game play then I have nothing to say.
