Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Since I can’t get my camera to download, and I do not have the time to write up full batreps (I have a lot of painting to do for the Dakka Dakka Adepticon team), I will post some quickies about what happened:

So, do to popular demand I took my Demon Hunters. I am really rusty at playing them (I forgot to use word in your ear in 2 games) and of all of my armies, they are painted the worst. But what can I do…the people have spoken.

Inquisitor w/Psychic Hood, Emperor’s Tarot, Psycannon

Fast Attack

5 Grey Knights w/2 Psycannons

5 Grey Knights w/2 Incinerators

Heavy Support
Dreadnought w/TL Lascannon (Rusty who is a metal dreadnought)

Dreadnought w/TL Lascannon (a forge world dread who only had one arm for a long time)
Dreadnought w/TL Lascannon, Missile Launcher (Old Blue who use to be a Space Wolf Dreadnought)

I changed it around a bit. I normally that just a Brother Captain, and flesh out my GK squads a little more, but I thought I would try the Grand Master. Also I normally equip my Storm Troopers with either 2 Plasma Guns and 2 Melta Guns, but I thought I would take a Melta/Flamer combo to combat both hordes and vehicles.

My list is really a shooting list with the ability to send a lot of strength 5-6 AP4 shooting down range. The sweet spot of my army is around 30”-36” so shrouding will help protect from high strength, high AP weaponry.

They used the Adepticon missions from the 2006 Championship Tournament.

Mission: Casualties.
You have 4 markers (2 troops from each side) as objectives. Minor win if you have one more than your opponent, Victorious Slaughter if you have two more, Massacre if you have 3 more.

I set up on the back of the board and I move his Looted Wagon out into the open with Word in Your Ear (this is the last time I remembered to use it).

I won the dice roll to go first, and I blew the crap out of him as he walked forward. My dreads shot off the weapon and immobilized his Wagon on the first turn.

He Waaaghed on turn #2 and what was remains of his army started to get close to mine. Those stupid Nobz where hard to kill with 2 wounds and FNP.

He assaulted on turn #3 and we both started to take heavy casualties.

We only got to turn #4 (you can guess who was the slow player since I had 40 models and I just shot from left to right each turn and did not move.

At the end of the game he was left with 3 scoring units and had 2 on the objectives. I only had one scoring unit left on an objective and so I had a minor loss.

Even though it looks bad for me, I was in much better shape. One of his boyz squads holding and objective is down to 10 boyz so my Grandmaster can just knock them down with one shot, the Grotz where on the other objective that my Chimera can just shoot with the main guns and the lasguns from the 2 guys inside to take them below scoring for 2 turns. And his other scoring unit was the Nobz that were with Ghazghkull and they were softened up by my dreadnoughts for a couple of turns. I had a an immobilized Dreadnought, the Grandmaster, 6 man Grey Knight Squad, 2 Grey Knights in the Incinerator squad, and a Chimera with 2 Storm Troopers on board.

Oh well, if it went the full 6 turns I should have gotten a tie at worst, and should have gotten a minor win.

This was my first experience with the Orks, and my opponent had one of those army lists written on a napkin, so I had no idea what anything did, or the stats of them. So that really slowed me down because if I knew that Nobz have 2 wounds and FNP I would have shot them with my dreadnoughts from the beginning, instead of finding out what they can do almost too late.

Minor Loss 7-14

Nice match. Orks vs. Grey knights sounds fun.
What did the Wyrdboy do all game? Anything special?

I'm always shocked to see how many orks can be squeezed into an army. How many points were played? 1850 or 2000?

We played at 1850.

The Wyrdboy rolled abilities that were of no use, or was shut down by the Psychic Hood.

Back in 3rd edition I played Demon Hunters vs Orks several times, and the Demonhunters do very well. The amount of firepower that they can shoot with Psycannons and Stormbolters will just shred Boyz.
